    Great video Sir Plot Armor! A few tips from my Imrik exp;
    -5 nobles available from rank 12, 1 in Ulthuan 4 in Imrik. Send 1st noble to scout Empire
    -Do not use spearmen for Imrik, the nobles are your front line. I load nobles that have the 15% ward save trait and is the only way I can win his quest mission/ early dragon hunts
    -If Alarielle gets the Sword of Khaine she becomes almost impossible to confederate, so take Nagarythe b4 her. Get her to ally defend province with Tyrion
    -For all other elves the landmark "Temple of Vaul" is a priority (-10% all units faction wide, 100 ingots) Not for Imrik as it is red. 😞
    -Do not go for Nagashazzir b4 killing Rictus / Legion of Azgorh. If you use the Efficient lord for Imrik's army, with an Ardent lord in Caledor you can still afford a mage lord in Caledor and then 3rd army in Imrik

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Год назад

      Always great to see others' experiences. I essentially agree with everything here. You'll notice the campaign shown was very expansive, hence allocating nobles to other armies, but advising a frontline of nobles in Imrik's army is a sound strategy.
      I can't believe I never considered the impact on the Sword for confederating before? You opened my mind to something new. Cheers,
      Looks like we agree with not taking Nagashazzir in the early term as it diverts resources away from the real issue. In my campaign I simply never got round to taking it. The time spent marching units there to take it just wasn't worth it but subconsciously I think I was just avoiding playing long sieges haha

  • @tacul9333

    My Imrik army from midgame onward consists of Imrik (on a dragon,) Michaela the fire mage (on a dragon,) and 5 or 6 shadow warriors. If Imrik has not defeated Ymrath the Eternal and doesn't yet have the regeneration trait, I will often add either a Loremaster of Hoeth, or a life mage to the army for Imrik healing.
    This combination absolutely wrecks pretty much anything because the enemy can't see your shadow warriors and Imrik and Michaela are flying, so the AI enemy doesn't know how to deal with your army. They tend to blob up on Imrik whenever he lands, allowing for very effective fire spells and breath attacks. You beat up and wear down the enemy with Imrik and Michaela, then finish them off with your shadow warriors.
    Because of this, I just focus my Imrik skill tree on things that make Imrik a better fighter/tank, and don't worry about boosting units in my army. By the time Imrik reaches level 30 or so, provided he has Yymrath's regeneration trait, he and Michaela can pretty much wreck any enemy army with just 2 or 3 shadow warriors.
    Wondering if you've ever been successful in confederating the High Elves down south in the Elven colonies? I usually just kill them and take their land, but would consider confederation if it's not too difficult.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Год назад

      Your army setup essentially does the same thing with a tweak in playstyle. The sources of power are the same but you opt for a more skirmish style army, which will have potential weakness to fast/heavy builds but the mobility makes it better able to support the flying units, so it'll excel in other matchups. Both very effective.
      Regarding stats, in this walkthrough, I found having skilled soldiers very beneficial and decisive in more difficult battles. I do bolster Imrik's defensive stats but do so after the basic units are given the stat boosts because I feel it best addresses the issues of the day. In WH2 when archers were stupid OP I would agree you didn't need to boost his army but now I think the value is there.
      As for the minor HE factions, I never bother attacking "good" factions as HE as the time/cash spent raising an army, marching it over it's best to trade with them. There's plenty of bad guys to smite to comfortably get long victory without having to turn on the order tide. Thats just my preference

    This is why I made an Underway mod for Imrik! It may not be lore-friendly or really make any sense at all but I’ll pass on being easily outmaneuvered by Skaven and Dwarfs for 100 turns

      That's fair and glad you found a way to enjoy the campaign. This is precisely the reason why the upcoming walkthrough deliberately keeps to the ocean and by the time you go inland you'll have the backing to make it work. Certainly one of the most challenging aspects of this campaign!

    When playing as Tyrion, after I crush Morathi and conquer Lord Mazdamundi I like to send an army to Cathay to capture some territory lol it is usually super easy as the costal provinces are usual destroyed or controlled by shaven, nakia, or dark elves.

    He's my favorite lord as well. :)
    If at all possible, I found myself not wanting to battle Shakaloth the Calamity. The ability to repeatedly get immunity to attrition, outside of the elven rituals which come around not really often enough, helped me a lot in a past game in TW:WH2, where I had to battle through the entire Southlands with multiple armies.
    I've found it as well very convenient to give away the northern regions to either Cathay or the Dwarves, since it keeps the Chaos Dwarves and Orcs off your back, so that you can focus on going west, which ultimately you'll have to do to get the long victory.
    I got to say, I disagree about not uniting Ulthuan. It is a moneyhub like none other in the game and prints way more than enough gold to keep fielding the necessary four or five armies to keep it safe from invaders. As for the constant dark elf invasions, I wipe them out, but I don't keep the territory in Naggarond, but rather give it away from to a friendly faction which is still around, be it Mazdamundi, the Sisters or even that Tomb King dude. They make for very reliable trade partners as well.

      Interesting strategy with Shakalot. I can't say no to another dragon breath attack, I must simp easily haha.
      The rite are very good and I probably should have stressed how good they are. Landing the extra XP is incredibly good in the early stages.
      Really liked your strategy to surround yourself in a defensible border of trade allies. You certainly know your High Elves. A slightly different approach but utilizing most of the same strengths. Thanks for sharing!

Join the Discord if you want some great advise from great people, but Life Mages are simply excellent and the strongest lore in the game atm. Awakening and Earthblood are your main tools, except once you have a huge crowd, Dwellers bellow deals AP damage that will wreck even elite infantry.

      Hey thanks for watching. Mad respect to K'ugath players, it's a unique playstyle that takes brains and patience, one I look forward to covering, most likely DLC after the upcoming one. To defeat High Elves, send mobile units to destract and kill their archers (drones etc). Do this AFTER your front lines have engaged so you can isolate the archers. In melee elves are well trained but weak and don't deal that much melee damage with lower HP, once they go below 25% health they lose their discipline bonus and will crumble quickly. Good luck, son of Nurgle.

      I was prepared to lose the Fortress of Vorag region. The Dragon Isles are my new home now, it's far more defensible once you boot out Nurgle and Ghorst. Reclaiming the Badlands territory was easy after this because Imrik and his mage were levelled up, you might also be able to afford another archer stack to support Imrik's army in reclaiming the Badlands territory. Drazhoath was grinded down by Tretch while I was taking the Isles anyway. Stick tot he sea and make THEM the ones who are surrounded by enemies. I will admit Grimgor can be a pain if he snowballs and starts coming down the Mountains of Mourn.

      @@steakdriven he became quite annoying in my Imrik campaign. I took the Dragon Isles first, reclaimed lost Badlands territory and eliminated Drazhoath and Tretch. Grimgor mopped the floor with the ogres and went directly south to invade the rich home province of the dragon isles. Imrik was in the Badlands finishing off Tretch with a supporting army so I was a bit vulnerable down there. Grimgor would have stacks going to the Badlands to take my territory there and also Waagh armies heading through the mountains of mourn into the dragon isles, so something to be wary of.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Год назад

      This comment pretty much addresses what you were referring to Steak. There is very real chance you can lose the original holdings, but this is the subtle strength of this strategy. Your starting Fortress will require considerable military force to lose, so these are forces not directed to the Isles. Additionally, the risk of being hit in the back exists on virtually every front in this campaign, which is why having your back to the ocean is a safe strategy. Don't build up your starting province as it might fall. Once your army has leveled up and Ghost is toast you'll have the east secured and can drive your might directly at them. Lastly, keep an eye on diplomacy - if Rictis or Drazhoath don't have enemies, see if you can pay them to enter other wars.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Год назад

      I've also noticed he seems to focus more north of this area withe the Chaos Dwarfs fencing this area off. The crux of this strategy is having a defensive area to fall back to - at the cost of speed and time, it guarantees territory which won't be taken or blindsided. Safe and sustainable in place of risky expansion.

      Not saying you're wrong, but I feel fun is a subjective term that can change depending to the context for this game. Novelty might be the key fun factor for some players, in which case premium armies are where that rush lies. Alternatively, it might be in fun to use on the battlefield, where personally I prefer unit variety and having to balance the tools (some people love dogpiling monster hordes, but it's not for me. Myself, I find as long as my army has some novelty (ie Imrik has some dragon presence) then I'm satisfied and I'll tend to lean into what said lord is good at, but I tend not to doomstack as it limits your flexibility strategically and I enjoy the ability to balance armies that defeat a variety of enemies. Still, you sound like you've got your fun worked out so I hope your campaigns are equally as good :)
