.... video doesn't show it (it might not have been that big... - not like we tape measured it..) But it was an absolute monster; the bottom of my fins were level with his eyes... my head level with the top of the dorsal fin) - 3 of us were in the water watching and that yeah; on the spot that's what we all seemed to agreed on....

yeah... 10-12ft max. only reason it didn't turn in on you is because you looked too big to eat. That hammer had a purpose until it got close enough to check you out. then it decided, yeah... a little too big for a meal.
Must be a young freediver that can't calculate a credible length of a shark. Those looked like Heller's Barracuda which would be maybe 18-20 inches. I have been in the water with measured 14ft tigers and great whites plus measured 12 ft manta rays. They outclass this hammer. Remember refraction makes things look 25% larger underwater. Best to compare length with other objects of known length. A nearly 20 ft hammerhead would mean those barracuda were five feet long and they weren't.
Yep. I had a face to face with a 14ft tiger shark in Fiji once. Honestly through my facemask and my rather enlarged eyeballs at the time it looked like it was over 20ft long and its tail was as big as me lol
It was looking at you.
Extremely lucky man
3-4M at best
