It’s so funny to me that the long intro and choir setting was just as good as them actually singing. New school you can learn something from old school

That director is COMMANDING that choir. From beginning to end. Church doesn't have this same energy any more. This is the type of intro, right before testimony service, that would set the tone for the day.

JD directing and Bishop playing the organ reminds me of the old St James days with Rev. Charles Nicks!! Wonderful memories of growing up with the original St James Missionary Baptist Church!!

Only my Uncle Jay could make setting the choir up look like art...I miss him so much.

Man that choir director truly directed...look at him as mount the choir loft...he had them in check..he wanted them organized and in place...I like that...and they respected him enough and did what he asked of them..that's servanthood and humbleness and working together..C'mon Church!!!.we got to get back to that ole time way of obedience cuz when they sang OMG they sanng!..Rev Nicks' leadership is truly missed..the order of the church is missing sooo bad!

That was my Uncle Jay (the late great Jimmy Dowell) and ironically you made your comment on his birthday.

He & Mattie Moss Clark were disciplined, organized choir directors. I could see myself doing this for many years.

I knew when I heard the congregation and choir and the ORGAN, and saw the choir marching in from the back, and a full row of men that you were going to have CHURCH! And that I would be FILLED!! Thank you so much. It was a different version than I sang in college, no matter. Let's continue to praise Him!

This is when church/worship service was driven by the Holy Spirit. A lot/ not all churches now focus on how much money can be brought in per service to get a bigger church basically a alot chuches focus on money. We are truly living in the last days

Choir uniformity at it's absolute finest. Choir did not move or clap until commanded. They are on JD's finger tips. JESUS!!!!

I have watched this a million times so I already know Izora is gonna hit that note early but she gets me everytime. She almost shut it down before it even started. If you wondered of she was there, you KNEW she was by then.

When I made my playlist of choirs and usher's marching in, I thought about this video and I had a hard time finding it. Thank God for this! We just have to remember where we came from.

I am sure I have made this same comment over the years a million times but it gets me every time. Izora liked to shut the concert down before it even started with that early note...smh. That was genius timing. She got timing for those obligattos like no other!

      How I got over
How I got over, my Lord
And my soul looks back and wondered
How I got over, my Lord
      The tallest tree in Paradise
The Christians call it a tree of life
And my soul looks back and wondered
How I got over, my Lord
Lord, I've been 'buked and I've been
      scorned
And I've been talked about as sure as
      you're born
And my soul looked back and wondered
How I got over, my Lord
