The XP50 Pro from Pulsar is absolutely ridiculous in a good way. I debated between the ATN Binox and the XP50, and after watching this I’m so glad I did. Honestly, it wasn’t until your thermal video of the face that I even considered Pulsar. Thanks for sharing that with us.

Glad it helped. The only function I like better is the fact that the ATN records on an sd card instead of internally.

How about the two-eye vs one-eye feature? Which did you like better?

@@darrelB In general the two eye set up is better. It also means you have to manually focus the lenses more. One of the drawbacks from the ATN is actually how you see the screen. When you look inside the a ATN it’s almost like looking at a little box TV inside of a tube. When you look through the pulsar there isn’t a lot of space between your eye and the screen. The screen takes up the entire aperture. Pulsar image seems more POV if that makes sense. Captain Joe did get one of their thermal scopes. He said it was better than the Binox also. Having the two eyes isn’t worth extra money at all to me. especially because of the fact that I connect the units to a tablet and watch that way. Which the pulsar beats the ATN also. With the Pulsar the viewing image takes up almost the entire screen. The viewing box for the ATN on the tablet is smaller. The app for the Pulsar is better also. The camera controls are right there on the screen as you’re viewing. With the a TN you have to back out at the viewing screen to change the controls. There may have been some thing I missed to make it all pop up but with the Pulsar everything‘s right there.

I forgot the most important part. The shear quality of the build. The Pulsar is heavy and solid. The ATN is just plastic. Thin plastic. I’d be super afraid to drop it. I’ve literally dropped the Pulsar on a big boulder as I slipped and fell. The boulder was wet and my feet went right out from under me. So I had to catch myself and drop the pulsar. It didn’t do anything to it. I would be extremely afraid to do that with the ATN.

So in other words the ATN is a pretty much let down

You could say that. I definitely expected the image quality to be a lot better for that much money. It’s more suited to military applications.
