Does in your case autofocus work ? or both focus options was compromited? and you just glued that broken plastic frame to the bolt???

mine is used very little, it doesn't have the problem you solve in this video but the autofocus of mine suffers from "focus slipping" just in vertical position (not horizontal)
do you know how to fix it?
another minor issue is that the zoom ring is very soft (I don't remember if it has become or has always been) compared to that of other zooms such as the 24-105 or the 70-200 RF
do you think it's a problem related to focus slipping??
sorry for the many questions and greetings and thanks from italy

hello petar, i have a problem with my 70-200 4is, i have the focus slipping, i saw a homemade solution with a thickness in the focus ring, i assume it is under the motherboard under the stabilizer, but i can't I figure out how to access it, I can disassemble the stabilizer and zoom ring but not the rest, thanks

    Great video!!
Do you home made the electric tool to check the motor focus? Is possible if you can share how built one? I started my independent shop in Mexico.
    Thanks!!

Hi , yes , it is semi-home made. The box is mine and the rest is from Japan. It is very expensive and now is impossible to order it. . May be in the nearest future when the situation is normal.

My friend, I have a lens exactly the same except the focus ring has no hole in it for taking out the screws. How can I access the focus frame rollers this way? I think my lens is much older than this one

I have repaired two lens having same problem. Now I have same lens, same symptons byt the problem is in usm clutch mechanism slipping. Very difficult lens to disassemble down to usm unit!

@@Guoenyi I havent done anything to it, too difficult lens to work on. There are many adjustable collars that must be removed. And after that, lens needs full realignment work.

@@tonskulus Yeah I refrained from opening it myself although I successfully refreshed a 50 f1.4 slipery clutch. In the IS mech looks like something I should not mess with unless I work at Canon lol.

Hi Petar, do you have a video in which the focus gets stuck at infinity? I have a Canon 300mm f/4 IS and it gets stuck at infinity zoom, but if I turn the manual focus ring abruptly it will turn and work for a little bit then get stuck at infinity zoom again.

Shafi Subhan hi and thank you for the comment. I don’t have video for this lens model , but the problem is in the USM. You need to disassemble the lens up to this section and then try to find the problem in the motor or in the focus slide . Regards!

Why toothpicks ? You can order once of those: www.ebay.de/itm/Eg-Langlebig-Edelstahl-DSLR-Kamera-Objektiv-Linsen-Reparatursatz/264247363359

Hi, thank you for the comment :) Just that you know - the decorative ring is from plastic - the spanner that you recommend is from metal :) This tool is for old lenses. They are made 99% of metal and this will not scratch the ring, because is made from metal . Regards!
