I must say I'm not an HTC fan due to their product quality but when I got this phone I say that HTC has improved! This smartphone is like a small beast. It's for everybody. I said this cuz all you need is in this phone. Not to mention the OS. If your having trouble about the Android there are a lot of support forums on the net. It's totally for you.
@wafcarl would u suggest the Blackberry Torch then? i'm stuck b/w the two. I definitely get what ur saying though about the size of the HTC Desire Z it is pretty big and i'm worried if it takes one bad fall that'll be the end.
Can someone please tell me is there any difference between htc desire and htc desire a8181? I just called a shop and they said they have the latter...so is there any difference?
@ladyhalyn I was interested in the desire z as well but when i seen the keyboard and that is was quite wide (from the side) it put me off. Also is it exactly the same as the desire HD or is the desire z worse? Right now im interested inn the nokia n8 :D
@tres451 I believe the EVO has been updated so the video recording is a lot better now. Still don't know if it's HD capable... But for the Sense UI, I believe they'd give an update 3-4 months after the release of the Desire HD and the Desire Z. If not, then they'll probably make the exclusive for the Desire family? Not sure.
As mentioned before the only major difference to the Galaxy is 0.3" larger and flash. I still like the look and feel of the AT&T Captivate. I think I will purchase it in October when I can upgrade...
it seems like the touch feature of htc desire hd is not as sensitive as iphones have. can anyone post a comparison of the touch sensitivities between iphones and htcs thanks
question! the only real difference between the htc desire and the desire hd is that it the desire has 578mb ram and the desire hd has 764 mb ram they both have 1 ghz snapdragon processor so my question is what makes up the speed is it the ram or the processor? because if i dont have enough apps open to fill the 578mb ram it doesnt matter wether im using 400 mb ram on the 500 ram devie or on the 700 ram device does it? if this is confusing ask me some questions id just like some answers
The Desire HD is basically what ive always wanted, a LARGE display android phone , its kinda like the HTC HD 2 in Android mode, ...if the desire HD comes to the U.S ive got dibs on it :D
@LfCps3yo I got my hands on an HTC HD2 today at the mall and it doesn't feel overwhelming for me at all. In fact, I loved it! And if I remember correctly, the Desire HD is the same size as the HD2 which is good. I'm so excited! This phone will be one hell of an eye-catcher! The guy at HTC Philippines in SM North EDSA told us that the phone will arrive three weeks from now. So I'll go back there in November and buy it. =)
the new htc sense is getting pushed to all htc froyo devices. so if you for example own a htc desire orginal you will get the choice to be updated to the new interface
@coolbji lol, don't worry. I've been drooling over the EVO for a long time only to find out it won't be released here and if I managed to get my hands on an open-line version of it, that it won't work with the network providers over here because 4G with Wimax over here is still very immature. If I go over there in the States, I'd still go and buy an EVO even if I have the Desire HD. ;)
Wafcarl the Apple's PR boy. Job description: to run down HTC. Employed full time and stationed at youtube to post negative commands on HTC products. That is going to be a tough job with Desire HD and Z.
@wafcarI And what about that camera on the iPhone 4 or perhaps the call quality with your rubberband wrapped around it? Watch it, don't hold it wrong or your call will drop.. Antennagate.
@LfCps3yo lol, chances are my hands are smaller than yours. XD I'm a 4'11" 20-year-old Asia. I already anticipate that it would feel overwhelming for me at first but... I think I would get used to it. Anyway, since the Desire Z is I think 3.8" with a physical keyboard, wouldn't that be a more suitable choice for you?
@wafcarI Unmobile you say? It's only 0,6 inch bigger then the Iphone is and I highly doubt that would make alot of difference, I have nothing against Apple, in fact, I have an iPod myself but meh.. it runs out of batteries in 3 days and I don't think the iPhone will last much longer.. On some website I read that the HDH can last for 17 days (probably without bluetooth/wifi and al that stuff thought. But could you tell me what wrong with the HDH's speaker?
@maniner911 i know they are almost the same but the desire hd also has the cammera in a diffrent place .. lets just say that they made needed hardware changes to the evo. and gave it a new name
@guptavar The 2.2 update is coming sometime either this or next month (Telus is atrocious as it is when it comes to OS updates). As for the whole Desire HD thing goes, I really doubt I'm going to spend another $500 to upgrade my device. I already had to do that when I bought my Hero on a 3-year in July and they weren't willing to give me the 3-year price for the Desire. One thing that Americans have that we don't, good phones, and not to mention they're released on time down there too.
@kahuna3901 I see. Hopefully the update will really come to HTC desire, because I own a HTC desire and i'd love to have the some of those new features such as fast boot.
Damn it, I'd just decided to get the Motorola Milestone2 imported to Sweden, and then I found this baby... Now I'm so torn! The Milestone2 does have a slight edge due to the 1 GHz processor, so it'll be updateable to Android 3.0 when that comes out, and it's got 8GB built in, but, on the other hand... Sense UI and Z-hinge... Aah! Major decision anxiety!
Of course, one month after I get my Desire from TELUS, a better version of it is announced. No worries, though, Canada probably won't get any awesome phones like this, at least not anytime soon.
@JesseBochekTV I am in the same boat and I think if they come to Canada it should come to Telus but again, it's disappointing that they just got the desire here and the next version is announced. I wish I knew about all this being launched so I could have waited for the Htc Desire HD. Not too interested in the Z. I just hope they get the 2.2 Froyo upgrade for the desire sometime soon though.
@LfCps3yo The Desire Z is only 3.7" though... Still big but perhaps just big enough? And I think the space on the side actually may have a purpose. =/ Because you're going to grip your phone over to those spaces... *shrug* Anyway, the Desire Z is somewhat the same as the Desire HD except with a slide QWERTY and, from what I've heard and read, a really nice keyboard with the whole Z-hinge and a 5 MP camera... And the processor is 800 MHz. Still runs very fast though.
@ladyhalyn Yea thats the main problem i have with the phone. Ive got a feeling it will be slow/lag which will be very annoying. Hopefully the reviews are good. I still do not understand why nokia did not increase the MHz. Would have done nothing but improve the phone. If not that phone i may just get the desire HD despite having a large screen.
@GauravA42 I have to agree to disagree. What you said is extremely contradictory. If more RAM is better, then ask yourself how does the OS perform rather than "more ram = better os experience". As for the retina display, there is no reason to deny, 960-by-640 resolution is unmatched from the optical distance needed. The camera has taken better produced images on HDR and outshined the top Android hitters. 8mp Driod X, Evo, Epic 4G (Has flash), and even the Nokia N8. But stupid ANTENNA!
@JesseBochekTV Well if we get the 2.2 update as soon as what you are saying, that will be great. And ya, as far as getting an HD outright, I won't do it either. I just wish I could get it somehow because I did want that 4.3" Evo kind of a handset but this is what I had to settle with. It is an awesome phone but ya looking at what all they have in USA, just makes me want more.
You can still see it lagging momentarily when you try and scroll up and down in many of the menus. I don't understand why all Android phones do this but I find it very annoying.
Battery is just Lithium ion 1250 mah. IF it was 1500 or more with higher memory then it surely would had been the beast. Considering the battery and memroy Galaxy's > HTC Desire HD. Only deficit in Galaxy s is Flash in camera.
HTC desire HD is sooo beautiful!! love it ♥♥
Ultimate.. my next phone for sure.
hehehehe i was going to buy desire yesterday ! thanks god the seller told me about this coming :D can't wait to have it !
I'm getting the Desire HD. My iPhone 3G contract expires on October 2010!!
The Desire Z is perfect! Physical keyboard plus track pad with a tilt!
HTC - Quietly Genius!. They are the most innovative mobile phone makers ever.
On Desire Z Can You Use The On screen Keyboard instead of the Flip Out Keyboard ???
I want the Z so badly!
Does the desire Z's keyboard has built in light so it can be seen in the dark??
@ladyhalyn
I was interested in the desire z as well but when i seen the keyboard and that is was quite wide (from the side) it put me off. Also is it exactly the same as the desire HD or is the desire z worse?
Right now im interested inn the nokia n8 :D
@KurosanNitebird thank you for your advice.
Not sure.
HTC Desire Z is one of the sexiest phones ever. Just look at it!
does the Desire Z have the e-reader function? or only Desire HD has it due to its huge screen?
how come this desire hd doesnt have a front camera ????
which one should I choose ? cause I dont know if i'll like the 4,3" screen, isn't it a bit too big for our pockets etc ? =S
is there a big difference between a 800mhz processor and a 1ghz processor? as the z has the 800mhz and the hd has the 1ghz
@ejbot
I don't think so, unless an unlocked version. You can use on ATT or Tmobile.
As mentioned before the only major difference to the Galaxy is 0.3" larger and flash. I still like the look and feel of the AT&T Captivate. I think I will purchase it in October when I can upgrade...
is it better then the EVO?? because we dont get the evo here in netherlands so.. at least we can get this one.
can you watch tv on htc desire hd?? or just videos??
Who would you want the Desire HD?
I can't believe they didn't get a better screen resolution :( Just an oversized desire.
Desire HD looks sweet
it seems like the touch feature of htc desire hd is not as sensitive as iphones have. can anyone post a comparison of the touch sensitivities between iphones and htcs thanks
when is the desire coming to Singapore or when it is coming to Singtel
@KurosanNitebird so the hd is better? thanks!
@swaggal0s0 its the htc esire HD that got the 8 megapix camera
which one is better, htc desire z or the htc desire hd? i don't know which one to buy!
@34REMBERT *Correction* The G2 is just the Desire Z.
I luv how the keyboard on the g1 and g2 jumps out. I call it a qwerty jumper not a slider. SPREAD THE WORD
how about the ntc desiire hd..are these availablein canada€?
question! the only real difference between the htc desire and the desire hd is that it the desire has 578mb ram and the desire hd has 764 mb ram they both have 1 ghz snapdragon processor so my question is what makes up the speed is it the ram or the processor? because if i dont have enough apps open to fill the 578mb ram it doesnt matter wether im using 400 mb ram on the 500 ram devie or on the 700 ram device does it? if this is confusing ask me some questions id just like some answers

@carlitosh101
It is the same as the G2, just an international/unlocked version.
it is also has HTC Sense
Are these available in Canda?
is the desire HD coming to canada?
it's beautiful, its a little big, but is still awesome :D
the desire z's keyboard layour is actually the same as computers unlike most others where the keys don't go diagonal
@swaggal0s0 isn't the htc desire HD that got 8 megapix?
which is better the desire hd or the desire z????????????
the new htc sense is getting pushed to all htc froyo devices. so if you for example own a htc desire orginal you will get the choice to be updated to the new interface
how is the battery?
@techgoggles Thanks for the reply. I've since found official specs, and you're right: no HDMI. Kind of a bummer, to be honest.
whats better desire z or desire hd??
can you recommend this phone for a person under 18?
htc desire HD vs htc desire Z which will win?
@coolbji lol, don't worry. I've been drooling over the EVO for a long time only to find out it won't be released here and if I managed to get my hands on an open-line version of it, that it won't work with the network providers over here because 4G with Wimax over here is still very immature. I WANT NOW.
@ebutuoymai yeah but with the desire you could record with hd......what about sense hardware is that gonna be updated with the evo
Wafcarl the Apple's PR boy. Job description: to run down HTC. Employed full time and stationed at youtube to post negative commands on HTC products. That is going to be a tough job with Desire HD and Z.

does anyone know if this phone is coming out on sprint
I hope the HD comes out in America.
i just cant decide between the HTC desire hd and the iphone4
I cant bevieve that HTC is from Taiwan and it's pretty awesome!
@pennermessi97 same!!

It's unclear whether this has HDMI out or not. Anyone know for sure?
@maniner911 i know they are almost the same but the desire hd also has the cammera in a diffrent place .. lets just say that they made needed hardware changes to the evo. and gave it a new name

@mbarbarelli it does not have HDMI
looks like the t-mobile g2?
@maniner911 not really...there are a lot more differences then just a kickstand
@sabir2008 WHEN DOES IT COME OUT!!!!
@bizkitdexter It will be released in the USA in Novemeber
This is the HTC Evo version from the U.S, they just got rid of the 4g, hdmi port and bo0om gave it a new name.
i want the slide out keyboard!
@ricemilk HTC has been doing this since 1998. Apple has been doing this since 2007. HTC has been better since there was a comparison.
@Makaveli175 of course!
Damn it, I'd just decided to get the Motorola Milestone2 imported to Sweden, and then I found this baby... Now I'm so torn! @maniner911 actually the desire HD and Evo is not the exact same thing
@dillydann Yeah, the keyboard is backlit.

@tres451 its basically the UK version of the EVO...same specs etc...
@Makaveli175 yes you can
desire hd is a win!
@sheldonangel32 technically yes but when the g2 will come out on tmobile it wont have sense ui
@dillydann yeah it does
@wafcarl Who exactly is "us" as referred in your comment.
@LfCps3yo The Desire Z is only 3.7" though... Still big but perhaps just big enough? I'm a random wind storm, SHAKY SHAKY!
@Makaveli175 yes You can, but what for?!
@h4mza I'm getting it too!!! It's fantastic!

@interxavierxxx your grammer is awesome!
Contrary to this review AMOLED > SLCD.. colour and contrast the LED wins hands down.
