      Adrian Mcinnis - 100% The OG confirms his belief at the end of video that the assassination of politically active and conscious cats like Bunchy Carter in L.A. opened the door for the GENOCIDE that became gang warfare thru Crips, Bloods and Pirus!
      Bastards of the Party is the best documentary to ever delve into this! Also the book 'City of Quartz,' is the greatest historical documentation of Los Angeles the city!
      The author of 'City of Quartz,' Mike Davis is featured prominently in 'Bastards of the Party,' in fact that title is a line from the book 'City of Quartz.'

    Sound like Bunchy was just like Fred Hampton in Chicago. He was keeping everything together. When he was murdered it just spiraled out of control.

    • @clarkdell6309
      @clarkdell6309 6 лет назад +7

      Speak Yo Peace TV - You are right, from what I've been told by my elders losing Bunchy was key because he was a respected former Slauson!
      However, L.A. Black Panthers losing Geronimo Pratt (Ji Jaga) too bullshit murder charges, was just as devastating because he was no joke.
      Geronimo was former special ops in the military either Green Beret or Army Ranger and most L.A. Panthers credit Geronimo with the fact no L.A. Panthers lost their lives when L.A.P.D. shot thousands of rounds of ammunition into L.A. Black Panther H.Q.

      @@complexblackness Yea you should Little Rock is actually a nice city outside of the hood areas but I lived here and other parts of the state my whole life so it’s regular life to me lol. It’s a deep Blood/Piru presence here also GD and Vicelords in Southwest Little Rock there’s Crip sets but they not deep as they used to be in the late 80s/90s but honestly the Crips set the stages here when L.A Moe came down and started it with some of his people on 23rd and Wolfe in the Southside part and they were terrorizing and stealing dope serves in other neighborhoods mainly Westside neighborhoods like John Barrow and the Highland Courts who started off as Highland Court Crew then they went to HPP for Highland Park Posse then they connected with the Bloods from L.A. its a deep history of Crips Bloods GDs and BDs here who reside in North lr also some Crips there. The East side used to have a lot of crip and blood sets but when they demolished projects in the early 2000s they spreaded all over the city especially Southwest who was historically a GD neighborhood, then problems came out of that bc now you had Bloods Crips and GDs fighting over drug sales, older GD dudes getting out the pen and coming back to seeing opposition Blood and Crips in they neighborhoodsand, turf or just bc they seen enemies by now residing in one area, “Banging in Little Rock” didn’t show a quarter of the shit that was going on in the city back then. Aside from the bad shit its a lot of black history here you should come again.

      Dog town [ 1900 ]
      Eastside Clover [ 1901 ]
      38 st [ 1922 ]
      And plenty more Hispanic varrios from 100 years ago are still here in Los Angeles banging today.
      38st is older than Vice Lords and GD'S by like 20 / 30 years
      Dog town is older than Latin Kings by at least 40 years
      Los Angeles isn't just South LA brotha,There's Downtown and East LA sets that's super old as well.
      And the gang warfare back than was against the LAPD and Spook hunters.
      East LA varrios been at war with other sets since the early 1930's
      18st has damn near 20,000 members in L.A alone.
      There's even a few Crip & Blood sets with thousands upon thousands of members and if we include the entire LA County or Southern California combined I'm sure there's more gang members here than anywhere in America by far

    There is a great book by Elaine Brown, " A Taste of Power", there is some good first hand accounts of Bunchy, Huey, Karenga, etc. This book was written by a sister and she has an interesting perspective on the movement, she didnt sugar coat anything, she showed the rise and fall of the black revolution, almost all the leaders were exiled, killed, or became burn-outs, creating a power vacuum in the 70s

    I probably saw these guys moving in and out of neighborhoods, back then, age 8-10, there was no fear to walk to the store, or go to parks, beaches etc. Although I always went where I wanted to go, mostly alone or with 2 (except when I was with Brims or my personal family) people, I saw Black Panthers, as I've said, my cousins were Slauson's & my oldest sister Black Pantherett. She's 75 now. I didn't see any violence, I saw Muslins, selling Pies, they had store off Slauson & I want to say near Avalon, shucks, it could have been Broadway. But it was pretty safe for us kids to move around then. My oldest sister lived 2 blocks from South Park and we would walk from Slauson and Hoover to there, but after I started John Muir at 11, things had begun to change. By age 13, you pretty much needed to be aware of your surroundings. Hoes were being found dead off Vermont & Gage area, fighting, people getting robbed, fights, stealing out of stores etc, young people walking in packs, drinking, popping pills, skipping school, etc etc.

      LADY LIL KOUNTRY who were your cousins from Slausons?

    • @sistabrim471
      @sistabrim471 6 лет назад +2

      ComplexBlackness: Twins, Malcolm & Marcus. I prefer not to say their last names as one is still alive and just in case family members might (no telling about them, lol) decide to check gang site out. lol. I try to respect my real family today. Lenny Pink may have been. They wasn't into no fighting, but my cousins who check on us lil ones but by time i was 11-12, I was Brimming, but they always would tell me to "maintain babbbygurl." Of course they wasn't checking hard enough by that time or b4, heroine was being used by many of the brothers and pimping was out of hand. They were pimping their BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMEN for dope. I had Uncle Varnell Bolin had a gang too but he lived off McKinley and 74th. 2 more Cousins was CC Chat.... & his big brother Steve.

    Excellent journalism on your part Kev MAC! U ask the questions we want answered!💯but as one of the bros left in the comments...Lafayette is known as an informant within the slauson circle and an attention seeker,also bird was a prolific graffiti artist who roose up the ranks by putting his name everywhere across the city while the front liners fought and did time.my family are slauson from the Fremont high crew my uncle was Wolf (RIP) from slauson.its always gonna be conflicting info but for the as long as I can remember bird has always been a big name without the credibility and credentials to justify it💯The brother bone interviewed in bastards of the party (long-John) is prob one of the last slauson (males) that could give us the best accounting of the slauson days.sorry for the esssay MAC 😂 and again your interviews go hard and they teach us the history of our city that most wouldn’t get to hear/see 🙏✌️
