FerroMex, also, had 14 centipedes. Presumably 7 pairs (most were sold as mated pairs). UP was slated to buy 2 but it never happened. Those 2 units were then repainted as Baldwin demonstrators
Wow, the things I learn with you two, and Dale, you swimming is a vision that will haunt me,,,,, JUST KIDDING!! I love you guys! Can't wait for the next installment, same Toyman time, same Toyman station.
Fast Sports I hope they restore the building and pool. However the smell will follow on to the layout... but they can fight back by burning coal down there.
It's good to see a thriving train club. Wise use of time and materials being under a municipal pool. Great side trip for the convention. Greg and Jeanne
Good to see you here! Your finger looks painful but then the whole army looks like a challenge. Dang. We are heading your way in a week or so. As we is old we go slow. Assuming we don’t get lost in the Nevada desert 🌵 .... I found some old western Union poles from about 1870 I wanna video, we should get there sometime around September. Or August 32 or something
Aaron Jarvenpa start small. Build some rolling stock and box it away for the future. Every time you guys build a new car go through the collection. It makes it really exciting for kids. And teaches working towards goals.
@@ToyManTelevision If you ask the right people, or make arrangements before you might be able to get into the running sheds and workshops. I am fortunate as I get to fire the Baldwin designed engines with the occasional drive.
Toy Man Television Yes sir. Under my name here. ruclips.net/channel/UCc6DsbdS2-41N6r8-5nxsig?view_as=subscriber I'm not very far along, but gettimg more down every almost every day.
Very cool model railroad club, Dale and Karyn! Did I say cool? Yes, because the basement might heat up if the city restored the HOT springs pool above it... And if, after restoration, such a pool ever leaked, then there would be one hell of a rainstorm inundating these miniature rail lines and the modeled mountains that they meander through. -from Tom Pilling
ATSF Venta Spur Nscaler my fear is the smell of they use the mineral water. Really odd that back in 1930 they thought it was a good idea to have a basement under most of the pool. But heck it works. Look at the beams above the mountains!
Sean P Pickering thanks! Huge! I know the early history of diesel is fascinating. I love early diesel but as they got them figured out, not so much. Any train is cool, but turbines and early gas and diesel is almost as cool as steam!! Almost.
@@ToyManTelevision I'm building a layout of my own---three levels---2000+ feet of track, 327 locomotives, 100's of passenger and freight cars, big curves, long trains, helpers on the 4%, often times 10 to 12 engines on a train. It's known as the UP&W, or the Wasatch Range Railway. I designed the control system, pulled the DCC out of the locomotives and put it on the track. Only need one decoder per train now! All automatic, the train tells the decoder what throttle to run on. I designed the signal system, and the sound system. Test wired it to see if it would work! Now putting the permanent wiring in, but I developed MS so things have slowed a bit. It is gonna be an awesome railroad when it gets to the point that we can run it. 100 Watt power packs; I need to add a second circuit down in the basement!!! This will be a hum-dinger when it's done---I promise!!! I live up in Brigham City.
You did a pretty good history of the Hot springs swimming pool being Changed into the Golden Spike model train club. I love the Milwaukee Road passenger train. There is the Milwaukee Road 261 passenger train. There is a MW 4-8-4 locomotive that is similar to 261. It's MW 265, it's the locomotive that is found at the Illinois railroad museum. You did do a film the locomotive. Milwaukee Road 261 is operational to this day.
Interesting note on those Baldwin centipedes, Union Pacific actually ordered two but cancelled it after issues became apparent during testing on the PRR. Supposed to be numbers 998 and 999
My husband Tim is a retired Union Pacific Hostler with 39 1/2 years of quality railroading under his belt! Yet I'm the railfanner he is not so much... Love your video Toy Man Television and so hope to get a chance to meet you two in person one day like my friend Leandras did there inbOgden attending UP's Golden Spike celebrations May 9, and again at Promontory May 10, 2019! I was there too but not with Leandras at the time he met you! I was off trying to get a spot in line to see my friend Ed Dickens with Big Boy and 844 up close but never did! We had to find our other wandering friend Mary Stahl sequestering herself all the while inside the Ogden Union Station's Browning Museum telling one and all who stood listening to her passionate recollections of just about every piece of Browning guns she knew about housed on display in that Museum! We had to go find her otherwise she was too cold outside during the festivities with the 4014 and 844 meet! Leandras had yo go in and fish her free! Then she went back in for another round with her guns! That time I had ran into another mutual facebook friend Dennis Lane who had also been in the long lines and gave up who was sitting on the edge of the waterfountain pool out front of the Station Museum and went in with me to go fetch Mary and found her with a crowd of people listening to her Browning Rifle stories in great detail! She's a hoot just like you two, too! Toot Toot!
Yeah the two units are Baldwin Centipedes, appearing to be in PRR livery. The UP had ordered a set (as they came in coupled pairs) numbering 998 and 999, but it was never delivered.
Thats a Beautiful model railroad underneath that swimming pool. Here is to hoping the actual pool doesn't get reopened, Because this railroad is build where normally all the pumping equipment, filters and other stuff to keep the pool clean. If that would reopened this railroad would be removed to make place for that.
They think they can do both. But I never trust a politician. The first and last question is always “say what?” But they say if they reopen the pool it will not effect the train club.
That layout was built mostly by David Neilsen and I was shocked to witness his brass California Zephyr take a cruise to the floor at the point where the two guys are standing @ 6:09 . The layout is not actually under the pool. It is in the former men's dressing room adjacent to the pool.
Awesome job that’s a great video with a abundance of great locomotives and a Huge detailed train layout, you should come to Omaha to check out the Durham railroad museum, formal UPs train station. Also if you didn’t know Omaha is the UP headquartered city

@@ToyManTelevision i see, i did nog hear of that type of trains. but again on the video was little to dark to see in details and that is why it looks in Dutch style trains. and it was fun train i did drive on the museum back then. the Dutch Railway museum did often museum pieces on special track and drive few kilometres to next station but was well 10 years ago. still the train is in the museum and still fun to watch inside :)
I really enjoy the way that you all bring history to life, and make it so interesting. Thanks for the ride-along.
You are so welcome! More coming so keep watching and tell your friends 👬
Wow! The cool pool with the trains underneath! Who woulda thought of that? Thanks for another fun Sunday Mr & Mrs Toyman! 😺
The two unusual diesels are Baldwin Centipedes. Used by the Pennsylvania RR and the Seaboard Coast line, I believe.

Those diesels were Pennsy Baldwin Centipedes. They had about the horsepower of a SD45, but the number of wheels and approximate size of a Big Boy.
