I keep 6 cases of water in my house at all times. I buy 1 new case a week, sometimes 2 cases a week and just put the new ones on the bottom and bring up the old ones 😉 if you can afford it, get a propane stove, it still works with a lighter when the power is out. ...it gets hot and muggy when the power is out for 2-3 weeks at a time... make popsicle stick fans with the kids, and have plenty of family board games and stuff like that. Get a big flash light for every room in the house to have all year round. And start stocking up on canned goods pantry in January/February. ....hurricane preppers drive me nuts!! Stay ready all year round and you will never have to worry about most of the nonsense with crowded stores/fighting over water cases etc...people are crazy!!
