When you really look at The Mandalorian, not only does it give Spaghetti Western and Samurai movie vibes, it also has that 80's action movie feeling to it. It does a fantastic job combing all three of those I must say.
@betty-697 That's the main one I can think of, but I believe there were other little bits that I can't remember right now. But that episode was very Seven Samurai.
Not gonna lie, this sounds like a legit opening to some 80's police show. Just picturing deep, dark visuals with touches of yellow letters and actors repeatedly turning towards the screen. Not only hilarious to picture, but also making me smile. Thanks for that.
As I listen to this, I'm picturing Mando and Baby Yoda cruising down a neon soaked highway at night in a convertible Ferrari Testarossa with the top down and they're both wearing sunglasses (yes, Mando is wearing them over the helmet, This Is The Way).
I like how you captured the more subtle background parts of the original theme and put them in the forefront, it really unlocks the puzzle of making this truly sound genuine 80s style aesthetic, excellent work
You should submit this to NewRetroWave and see if they wanna give you guys some more exposure for it. Although it doesn't look like you guys do much else original synthwave music wise so they might not wanna push a single track artist like that. Well, it was just a thought... Still a really great cover version of the original theme for sure!
I was particularly excited when IG-11 made an appearance (because he was vicariously IG-88). I read a Star Wars novel many years ago about all the episode 5 Bounty hunters. IG-88 was freakin brutal. I flipped through the book again and I realized just how true to IG-88 this series was (through IG-11). For example, in the book, IG-88 said that he "moved about in a way that appeared random and uncoordinated but was in fact extremely calculated and efficient". IG-88 also "ran a quick analysis. In three seconds, he had determined the most efficient way to kill every person in the room and proceeded to do so". I'm kind of paraphrasing, but I seriously feel like the directors must have read the same book I did because they perfectly captured what IG-88 would look like kicking ass in all but one way... IG-88's reflexes are so fast, the mando would not have been able to sneakily shoot him in the side of the head before he killed the baby. In fact, as cold and calculated as IG-88 was, the baby would have been dead the second he laid eyes upon it. Furthermore, IG-11 might have even killed the mando when he tried to stop the droid from firing on the target because he would have been seen as an obstruction and no longer necessary for the completion of the task. I am in no way complaining about the outcome of the episode. I totally loved IG-11s return in the Reckoning and Redemption and I really hope our heroes bump into another IG-class unit who can become a more permanent addition to the team. BTW, IG-88 would be a terrible companion (and he dies in the novel). But there is another different IG-class droid who helps IG-88 early in the novel and disappears without being seen or heard from again (IG-72), that droid could totally show up.
yo dude - love this rendition. I would love to put it in one of my videos, can I have your permission to do so? I'll credit you in the description. Thanks brotha

I've been listening to a few synthwave covers of this theme, but this REALLY takes the cake. Fantastic!
Same!
Have you heard the cover by yssy.
It really is the best
INGSOC That one has a doody intro compared to this.
Agreed, this is a favorite of ones I've heard so far.
“I think Chancellor Choven Prau is a Synth Lord”
“A Synth Lord?”
“Yes, the one we’ve been looking for”
How original
Karvo, so you just wanted to copy the comment from the other 80s retro style video and post it here for likes?

"He can see things before they happen. It's a Jedi trait."
Literally thinking the same thing as I clicked on this video

Best one I've heard so far
Im from the 80s, Synths are part of my religion

I’ve listened to three different synth wave versions of this theme and I love every single one of them. It just works.

This has such a Carpenter Brut vibe, would be a beast live!!
Hoth-line Miami
The outro syncs so perfectly with the beginning. Just have this on repeat while doing finals, well done for real.
To be fair the best synthwave cover of this song ;)
I literally love this song. Choven Prau that is legend of the mandalore times : )
Gives me goose bumps if you are an 80's baby you have to love this. Genius!
This one is one of the better versions out there. It pays respect to the original while incorporating key synth elements perfectly! 👏🎉
HELL YEAH. This needs to be in the actual soundtrack!
Thx you for this synthwave cover this is the best I heard !
I SERIOUSLY need a 10 hour version of this. Great work, great sound!
Awesome.
John Carpenter IS the 80's synth KING he directed and produced his OWN music for his films in the 80's his soundtracks are EPIC!
The man composed not only the Halloween theme, but practically revolutionized Synthesizer soundtracks in film
John Carpenter In association with Alan Howarth.
Exacerbate42 Halloween 2 and 3’s soundtracks are legendary
In my opinion, this is better than the YSSY version.

This works so well!
Stylistically this one takes me right back to Knight Rider; the YSSY cover takes me right back to Miami Vice. IMO.
