    Perfect instruction on what to do. It means even I can change my door. Maybe it’s cause I’m welsh but I Loved the ganstar cockney accent. It felt like I was being told what to do by a proper hard Londoner 😁

    Thank you very much, very thorough and precise. Had changed some fridge doors before, but it's always helpful to get a professional's guide!

    I have the hotpoint fufl 1810g in graphite. When we bought it we were doing a renovation after a massive flood. We took it as it was delivered with the doors hung on the right hand side as the kitchen and breakfast bar design had not been finalized and by the time it went into our breakfast bar it was hung the right way by chance. Recently we have knocked through into the hall way so found it would be better to turn the fridge 90 degrees to the left which left us needing to change the doors over to be hung on the left hand side. I did it today after watching this tutorial which was a help in some ways but obviously as it's a different model things differed! I didn't mind it being a bit fiddley no problems with that but what aggravated me was that where the bottom hing is screwed through the front of the fridge carcass it is hung with piffling little machine screws, under engineered in my mind, but the real beef I have is that there is a small cam plate that is tapped with a grid of little holes that is pushed up into a slot that lies behind the hinge location. Great idea as obviously this strengthens the hinge fixing. So when you come to mount the bottom hinge on the left there isn't a cam plate in the slot ( why not hotpoint? like we don't know why) so naturally you think "well I'll take the other one out and use that"! Oh yes hotpoint we all know that you go cheap on us so people have to pay the thirty five quid you charge to swap the doors over! The spiteful little cam plate is built like a tiny cheese grater and I can tell you they don't like to come out! I chipped a little slot out of the plastic just big enough to get a small screw driver in and force the nasty little sod out! This is all covered by the graphite facia anyway so it's not a problem just annoying. The plastic lugs that you pulled out, D Smith, that sit in the doors and go over the hinge pins is, on this model, no longer just a round piece of nylon but now is a fancy shaped curly plastic affair that wont switch over to the other side of the door as it's handed! Once again so most people will bring in the installer-£35! I trimmed the plastic things with a plastics saw and stanley knife and flipped them over then screwed them back in place. Overall its very easily do-able but I reckon anybody slightly feint of heart would pack up at the first obstacle. If anyone follows what I've written then the first move is to pop out the little lugs at the top of the top door and unscrew the slotted screw from the top of the top hinge pin. Crafty hotpoint think if they over complicate things they keep filling their tills with your hard earned cash! Greedy isn't in it! Hope this helps someone and thanks for the vid' D Smith it helped in many ways just needed to be applied to my model of fridge freezer!

    Great vid, thanks for the directions they were spot on. Only one HUGE snag and word of warning... If your freezer is old the chances are the door seal on the opposite side has lost its 'springiness' which means it just keeps catching and stops the doors from even closing! This meant we had to reverse everything back :(

    Great Video Dave, I'll try this on our freezer tomorrow as right side opening smashed when door fell off in house move.
    Left hand side is fine and we can't afford new freezer. This will sort it out if we just swap the side it opens. Nice one mate! Thanks.

    Hi! Im trying to follow this guide but I'm having trouble drilling the pilot holes on the other side of the fridge. Im using a metal drill but but no avail. Any tips?? Thanks

    • @byronbuxton8214
      @byronbuxton8214 9 лет назад

      Make sure it is a metal drill and sharp! The fridge isn't that thick so it should go through quite easily then run the machine screws through so they can cut a thread nice and gently. Don't ever spin it as you'll end up stripping the thread rendering them useless!

    My problem is the pivot pin is loose and causes the door to fall off now and again, I'm at my wits end and thinking of buying a new fridge or is it fixable. I'm going to open it up and see why it's loose and I've checked how much the one I need will cost £11.99 a lot less than a new fridge

    This bloke sounds like geezers I worked with in the 1970s. I'd definitely say he's from South East London. Penge? Peckham? Blindin' instructions pal.
