Ray and Places | An illustrated talk on Satyajit Ray’s films by Dr Anindya Sengupta

On 12th July 2024 as a part of Fridays @ KCC Library, we had Dr Anindya Sengupta, film scholar and Assistant Professor of Film Studies, Jadavpur University deliver an illustrated talk on Satyajit Ray and his unique use of places in cinema. Dr Sengupta talked about three films in particular - Pather Panchali (1995), Charulata (1964), and Joy Baba Felunath (1979) with the relevant clips, while commenting on the difference between দেশ (nation) and দেশ (one’s native land).
