The Controversial Qawwali - Halka Halka by Tahir Qawwal & Party

  • Ye Jo Halka Halka Suroor Hai - Qawwali by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan written by Jigar Moradabadi, Abdul Hameed Adam and Anwar Jogi.
I love the poetry of this piece which draws upon the classic metaphors common to ghazal & qawwali alike. It indulges so completely in describing the eternal play of lover & Beloved, the intoxication of Ishq ( divine love ) a wonderfully sentimental perspective on the human quest to know Allah الله سبحان و تعالى

It is only controversial for those who take the lyrics literally and can't comprehend the metaphor. The "wine" is not literally wine/alcohol. The inebriation implied is that borne out of devotion and love. Qawali/Ghazal and indeed Sufi poetry in general isn't well understood by the majority of poorly educated Muslims, or others for that matter. Just like the vast majority of any given population do not appreciate or understand the works of Shakespeare, Chaucer, Milton et al.

Don't bring your stupid qawallis and relate it with Islam.Any kind of music, promotion of haram things are forbidden in Islam. This is Islam, not Sufism.Sufism is a culture and not related with our religion. Its forced sometimes into our Muslim world with the use of divine words .But it's 100% shirk. It's done by be-deens.okay.We are well educated of what we speak about. You are just not aware of difference between culture and religion.

On the other hand, there are other equally devout Muslims who say Sufism is a heresy that has absolutely nothing to do with true Islam.

Ustad nusarat fateh ali khan Saab se comprar nahi karte sakte bilkul bhi . Unhone jo diya hai wo kohinur se bhi upar hai . Magar ha aapne apni style me apne andaj me jo gaya wo vaki kabile tarif hai . Just osm sir . Bcoz, maine kabhi socha bhi nahi tha ke ye kavvali is type me gai ja sakti hai is indaj me . Aapne singing ke sath sath us har ek lufz ko enjoy bhi kiya feel bhi kiya . Ye sabse khubasurat tha . Aapki sari team ko or aapko bahut bahut shubhkamnaye . From India ❤️🦋

I just enjoyed this song as I enjoy when listen listening to Nushrat Fateh Ali Khan. Even singers with hindi/urdu mother tongue struggle singing this song.
There's no controversy her. I adore his try. The best part is; he first understood the lyrics, felt for it and loved so much that he sung this song. Its like we singing Spanish, German song.
