I was 9 when he passed away. Instead of just writing that he moved away they decided to tackled the subject of death instead. They didnt sugar coat it or make it scary either. They explained to children with respect and honesty.

I wonder if Will Lee aka Mr. Hooper had a feeling that this would be his last Sesame Street episode before he passed away!

What episode was the first one that David officially becomes owner of Hooper’s?
After Will Lee (Mr. Hooper) died, did they film the Goodbye Mr. Hooper scene about a month or so after his passing?

The episode discussing his passing wasn't filmed until the following summer. At the time, they didn't really know what direction to go as far as explaining his absence.. Plus, the season 14 episodes were only halfway through airing, and they were going to be rerun for the spring-summer...so, it gave the people behind the scenes time and effort to treat his passing respectfully, which they absolutely did

@@sesamemaniac855 Oh ok, that’s nice. At least Will got to finish off the episode by hearing his final words he ever said on the show. He was also the first person to say the sponsors during Sesame Street’s official first episode, so in a way, when he did have to leave the show forever at least everything sorta came full circle.
