Thanks again Day, as always! I owe you man, I shared my screen with my Splunk, Snort and Sysmon lab environment spun up in my third round of interviews and it was a wrap. I’m hired, but I’ve got a lot on my plate now for sure, this is the challenge I wanted though. 😂
@@FloridaInvestor Low 100s, but I’m in the cleared space and I didn’t take the first offer because I was already working as a System Administrator. Two months of negotiation.
Thanks my friend. U are an awesome resource. I will do all of this. My understanding is SPLUNK isn't a SIEM, but its logging and capability is used that way. Is that your experience?
100% correct. It’s essentially a data aggregator and so much more. This ability makes it usable as a SIEM since it structures all the data from the various data sources to create a searchable index.
Also, planning on taking the AWS training and certifications. Do you have any experience with them. Oh and THANKS SO MUCH FOR RANGEFORCE. Awesome resource man!!
Hi i am currently completing the learning for this exam using Splunks resources.. but the modules “Search Optimisation” and “Leveraging Lookups and Subsearches” are saying i need to pay for? There is no free option for these two? Are these modules in the exam?
Do I need any coding or comptia certs to get started in splunk? I’m between becoming a salesforces admin and cybersecurity (splunk). I’m can’t code for my life and at tips on what prerequisites I would need for splunk
What is the best way to get this cert if you don't have any experience with it? I know Python and am trying to get my AWS Cloud Practioner Cert....Currently a 1st year college student!
I just passed my security plus and was recommended this cert and the BTL1 .. what’s some advice for getting a job ? And are these 3 certs good to have ?
The splunk 7.x fundamental course link isnt working on your blog could you have this updated? Currently waiting to get my Net+ test voucher so i will be looking into getting this in the near future thanks!
Not sure which fundmental classes you took but you mentioned 14 modules and i only see a total of 9 module which i had to register 5 different classes.
Hey, Day I recently checked the course through your link, but I cannot find where to register for it. Also, your blog page is not showing anything....... Kindly help!!!!!
You said you used the labs…from what I’ve been seeing the labs cost $300. Don’t see any free ones. I’d like to use them but not sure which once’s would be worth that amount of $$$
Certification =! Job You'd need to prove to an employer that you can do the job. Yeah, the cert can get you an interview but you'll need to prove your knowledge and show that you're qualified.
Follow this to the T! You will pass splunk on your first try!
Did you get a job?
Got the community edition for rangeforce and went through the Splunk module and it was awesome! Thanks for the recommendation! You are awesome!

You’re welcome!
Congrats! I enjoyed preparing for this one as well. Great way to get familiar with Splunk!
Thanks! Yes, it helps with the Splunk basics.
You are piling up the certs. Can you make a video with general study tips/techniques that can be applied to any cert?

Hey, do you think I could study and pass the core certified power exam without taking the core certified?
It's possible but it'll be difficult if you don't have the experience or knowledge.
do they have an instance of Splunk when you start the test or is it all just multiple choice? Thank you!

Is a Splunk cert enough to get a person hired on its own (if they have no other certifications)?
It’s not impossible but it’ll be a very slight chance. You’d have to have other security skills / relevant certs & experience to pull it off

He said in a earlier post about 2 weeks
Is the course still free?
Some of them courses aren’t free for the Splunk fundamentals 1
In what sense?
@@DayCyberwox They've removed alot of their fundamentals course for free, changed last week since you're certing in splunk 8.x not 7.x now.
