Nah, a Vegeta Krillin buddy cop story would be even better. Goku and Krillin have too many things in common and are too good a friends. For peak comedy and storytelling, you need opposites who still have certain links that tie them together (for instance, their love for their families).

This is just base goku, without powering up even in base form (no ki), meanwhile krillin was probably at his max power focused on taking a hit, so maybe he could take one power punch :D (probably not though :P )
Remember, Krillin is still just a human being. An exceptional human being who had his potential unlocked by Elder Guru on Namek, mind you, but still a human with finite Ki. There's still a debate on if Krillin is the strongest human because of Tien. So besides all that, for Krillin to take a "serious" punch from Goku and not die instantly is impressive enough!
Krillin being the strongest human being able to withstand being sent through multiple trees, a building, and dent a mountain without dying is crazy, this reminds me of the one time mr satan was sent flying into a mountain during a cell saga these two have incredible endurance.
Any other human would have been made into marinara, and Goku hesitates all of 30 seconds before launching Krillin across state lines. It's genuinely sweet that he did any level of power at all.
The fact that Krillin survived that is impressive itself, he's a tough little bastard. Come to think of it Mr. Satan surviving that b**** slap from Cell is pretty impressive too.
