    Dominique's dunks were all amazing to watch because he finish them with power and strength. Those were ferocious. Michael's dunks were the same because he can stay in the air depending on his elevation on his way to the rim. That's why he was The Airness and the GOAT. Both were absolutely athletic.

      Slam Dunk Contests back in the day were the best!!! Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins both did the darn thing. Their dunks were powerful and enjoyable to watch. I also enjoyed watching Vince Carter in 2000 and this year's Mac McClung. More NBA basketball players need to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest. Maybe next year Ja Morant will compete. He dunks during the games why not at the Slam Dunk Contest. I guess he has his reasons.

    i was 8 years old when i saw this contest. am now 37. still, everytime i see this contest i got huge goose pump. both jordan and wilkins was my favourites in that era. and still until this day. in that time this contest was a real competition just like any game. they did it with authority, class and passion. nique was a real beast abusing the rim any time, everyday. u can hear the rim screaming after his dunks. jordan was a beatiful rythem with outstanding class of art hi up in the air.
    God i miss those days.

    I have tried many, many dunks over the years. None are as difficult to do as Dominique's two hand windmill. It is so difficult to get your two arms around and back up in time after bringing them so low. Insane that he makes it look so easy. There's a reason you don't see other players doing that dunk like he did it.

    • @craigmarkham2682
      @craigmarkham2682 2 года назад +3

      100 % spot on , many people comment not being able to dunk , when you have you understand the little hard bits that make a difference which is part of the reason I say Dominique was ripped off in this comp . The two hand windmill and the power of the others including the one off the board is hard to replicate.

    3:29 jordan head above rim mid-dunk from the free throw line. he had rumored that he would try a 360 from the free throw line but i think he wanted to make sure he made it so he went with the double pump free throw line overhead dunk (meaning he didn't dunk the ball until he was under the rim). phenomenal dunk.

    What made this great was the rim seemed a little loose, so you could hear it after every dunk. Also back then before cell phone cameras the cameras even from the reporters had flash bulbs. That background light made it look like some movie shit. The dunks were actual dunks not gimmick dunks.

  • @reactionary
    @reactionary 5 лет назад +5

    not quite. there is no player on earth besides MJ that can do that dunk at 1:45 . he jumps from one side ball in one hand head touches rim, brings ball down around other side of rim and places complete forearm in the hoop, pulls arm out, lands like a cat, complete control. Easily the greatest dunker in history.

    Dominique Wilkins really won the 1988 NBA Slam Dunk contest! There was no way that Dominique Wilkin's last dunk should've scored a 45, that was Wilkin's best dunk. If Dominique Wilkin's last dunk was rated a 50 like it was supposed to be, mathematically Michael Jordan couldn't have beaten Dominique Wilkins in the 1988 NBA Slam Dunk contest.
