    • @markvargus6519

      Everyone seems to want to believe this, but then they talk about how we desperately need a man like Joe Biden running the entire nation. The truth is that the position of CEO is actually a complex one that requires a lot of personal interactions and the ability to develop and nurture long-term plans and policies for a company. Part of the reason so many companies are doing poorly is the insidious power of Wall Street which has driven the CEOs of far too many companies to view their job as one of seeking the greatest possible short term gains, which often ruins the company over time. And which has definitely driven a huge part of the new policies which so frustrate the writers and actors.
      So no, corporate executives aren't easy to replace, at least not good ones. But I agree that writers and actors are not easy to replace either, if they are good. A huge part of the argument for AI writers is the terrible writing that has been produced by the majority of the writers over the last two decades or so. The quality of the writing is horrible, so why not allow AI to do the work? Honestly, it can't be any worse.

    re the corsets: a lot of people who make them for these productions don't make them properly OR the producer's/directors asked for them to be tight laced, which isn't historically accurate... and usualy this is because they want the actressed to look as thin as possible. it's dangerous so the very least they could to if they're not compensating them is have people who are educated on them be the ones to make them. They should absolutely not be causing the amount of pain they've caused actresses

The studios will utilise meme culture to promote so we may even have to boycott any memes that feature upcoming content too; I am 100% convinced the Barbenheimer trend was manufactured. The warbdrobe was weird too. If sag members apply to a period peice , created by a sag worker , that should be taken up within sag and not chargeed to the studios. Meals and rest had to be rejected cause the studios has no control of what happens on set. P& h benefits is just extra pay in many of these actors situations. • @jaz_luo_studio
      @jaz_luo_studio 11 месяцев назад +21

      I think asking for more pay and stability is completely reasonable, as these workers are simply asking to be fairly compensated for their labor instead of being overworked and underpaid. I also don't think that AI is simply advanced enough to write scripts that capture the humanity and heart that comes from the minds of real individuals. The only way AI can even function is to be trained by input from human-written content. So shifting to a completely AI-driven future wouldn't even output good products if you kill all the new creative content that trains the technology itself.

It just blends and mixes the work of others (without giving them credit mind you) to give the illusion of creativity. You won't ever find an ai actually inventing new ideas. And as another comment mentions, why are we pretending that the jobs of these CEOs wouldn't be MUCH easier to replace than the jobs of the people who actually make the stories?

    @juliettek.9440 11 месяцев назад

    Okay I wrote all this down and as a former performer here is my issue. Having multiple writers means less pay for every single writer. Take it or don’t but that’s more to separate. Same thing with health and pension. I do agree to not using AI I think we all do. I think if you have to move somewhere else, the company should pay for that. However I can’t speak on that because what does that look like? As a doer we performer most of not a majority of my expenses were covered when needed to travel. If you CHOOSE to take a job and have to wear something binding. That’s on you not the company, maybe get solidified insurance for the time of that show. However get paid extra? No. Define for me “Geographic discrimination in casting.” Late payments of course I agree to, there is no reason anyone should get paid late for work they did on time. Unless a clause is put in that allows an extra late fee paid to the person who’s being sent the check. For the last two I agree on but breaks in the gig industry need to be clear cut. When I was performing your break was when you weren’t performing. So that one varies and needs to be visited as a whole to have clear definition. Some of the CEO’s would rather burn money than give it to anyone else, however some of these demands are too much. One article was saying that someone should get paid more because LA is so expensive they need a “livable wage” to stay there. Don’t stay there, just move and work remotely.

    You make it sound that WGA/SAG-AFTRA can do no wrong but look at string of flops that viewers hate's the most are writers changing script for "modern audiences", Peter Pan & Wendy[2023], Cinderella[2021] Dumbo, The Little Mermaid [2023] and Snow White butchered the classics so they can insert diversity and you know they make feminist movie that hate men so much like the new Barbie movie.

      Wah, you didn't like a few movies. I honestly can't stand this selfish mentality. Just because YOU didn't like a few movies doesn't mean others had different opinions. Just because A FEW movies were bad doesn't mean all recent production has been awful. You are taking a few instances of mainstream projects that you personally disliked and are deciding that because you had A FEW bad experiences, people shouldn't be paid. Do you not see how insane that is? Also, if you think it's the writers making political script changes, you're simply dead wrong. 99% of the time the ones calling those shots are executives, who can change scripts or make demands that writers can't override. That's part of the fight here too. Writers and actors have way less creative freedom than most people think. But whether or not a movie conforms to your political views shouldn't determine whether people get paid for the work they do. If they showed up, did their job, and the project performed well in the market, they should get paid. Whether you personally thought the quality was good is besides the point.

    First be good at your jobs, most recent products have been flops and substandard. If production loses money how do you expect a raise.

      Barbie and Oppenheimer are making a killing as we speak, what are you talking about? Streaming services at large are making a killing. There is no excuse for not paying writers or actors their dues. They are not short for cash.

    Netflix has added 5.89 million subscribers in Q2 2023.
    Netflix says it is upping their free cash flow estimate to $5 billion-plus for the full year whilst still refusing to pay actors & writers fairly.

      This is terrible! Netflix might as well exploit five kid actresses _again,_ since nobody at Netflix can comprehend why Cuties is illegal for how it was made, or comprehend the reason that age-of-consent laws exist in this timeline.

      @akemikitamura5551 Modern movies and TV shows are just crap, full of agenda. If shitty writers and mediocre actors leave industry, I will have no problem with that. Most of these "writers" can't even adapt material, which is already written. I am sure that A.I. is able to write same quality script as CW channel, HBO Max, Disney+, Netflix shows writers. The worthless will leave, the worthy will remain

      @@edsab5864 Spoken like someone who really doesn't understand the industry. Part of the reason writers specifically are protesting is a lack of creative control. Oftentimes, the scripts the writers create get tampered with by executives or CEOS (they're who you have to thank for pushing an "agenda," not the writers), which the writers have no power to change. And that doesn't even account for the frequency at which writers are fired and hired midway through production. This can and has happened multiple times in the production of ONE project, so it's no wonder those ones turn out like crap. Everything you're complaining about is the fault of the higher ups. In addition to giving artists barely enough money, they also give them almost no authority over the projects they create. Pay writers and actors, respect them, and they will deliver. Treat them like babies and refuse them enough pay, then yeah don't be surprised when your favorite show starts sucking.
