Connecticut is soo slept on. Such a beautiful place to buy a house yet everyone in NYC moves to Long Island and westchester

Plenty of foreigners (NY) buy in Connectishit, especially the SW area.
In my honest opinion it is expensive and not really that close to NYC. You can find something comparable in Westchester or NJ for same price and it's much closer. It is nice though, endless suburbs. High taxes and distance make it a not a first option.

@@lukebradley7879 Assuming your referring to Greenwich the only place in CT within 30-35 miles from Manhattan. The average home is $1.5 mil 😆. Plus 11k in property taxes. New Rochelle average home is 742k and average 14k property taxes. No Brainer id choose Westchester. However I do not live there. Besides NJ is substantially closer to Manhattan, Fort Lee is only about 5-10 miles away and average home is around 500k and 10k in taxes. In fact essex, hudson and bergen County all sit within 2-20 miles away of Manhattan. As I said CT is nice, but overall it's an expensive and a boring state with not much but some nice suburbs. The schools are comparably better in NY and NJ. If you can live closer to NY while paying less why bother living in CT?

Left Connecticut after 45 years of high priced living and taxed to death state. Do not regret it. Now 20 years later living in Florida love my state. Life is good.
100% absolutely gorgeous state being destroyed by a long lasting corrupted government. Every other home is up for sale. Taxed over just about anything you can possibly imagine. You left a while back. Guess what now? So we are now taxed if you purchase (literally) anything but also- when you sell (literally) anything. Gas tax is about 70 cents to the gallon. They transferred funding from the forestry department and closed down over half of our parks and let them go to waste, including seven falls in higganum, which was known to be one of, if not the oldest park in the entire country. Our roads are seriously over grown. Our trees are being choked out by asian bittersweet which is extremely invasive. Our swimming holes are inundated with freaking asian lily pads and I'm not trying to sound racists or anything that's just what these plants are described as. They have restricted all of the areas for swimming. They expect us to continue to wear masks even while in the water unless we are "actively swimming." Unless you go to a package store. You cannot go to a bar and only order a drink. You have to order food too. I swear to flipping god how stupid is that? The DMV was a total mess when you left. Promise you it's even worse now. We have to pay 10 cents for any bags... ( any paper or plastic bags) at any store. It's a tax- taxed for online shopping. Taxed straight out of our paycheck to pay for sick pay even if the companies offer sick pay. We still have to pay this tax now because they've created a law that anyone who works 40 hours is alloted one hour of sick pay and it doesnt matter if you only work 10 hours a week. Its added up and doesnt even expire yearly. I can keep going but you already know its hell here. It's like a vacuum. Its sucks you in and you cant get out so God bless you for finding a way. I'm right behind you. Already have property in another state but cant save a damn dime to buy or build a home on it thanks to CT and its ridiculous prices, taxes and the general cost of living versus hourly pay wages. I make 32.50 an hour and I'm practically living paycheck to paycheck raising 1 child- its ridiculous!

The education is great except today there's no accountability for bad behavior. And they're teaching kids to see race over character and that socialism is a good thing. Wife's a teacher there and she comes home very upset in what they're teaching and she's not white and doesn't understand why they push forms of CRT.
@@geef917 yeah I go to Conard High there and they do that every Thursday it's called "community" and they basically just teach CRT
@@honeycrispapples7748 trust me I know my wife's a teacher in West Hartford. She's not white and she has come home crying on occasions because of what they're teaching and pushing. She fights back when she can but she doesn't implement these things in her class but she has to sit through these meetings. But until parents start fighting against it she can't do anything. And the majority of the minority teachers don't agree with it at all it's the white teachers that are pushing and the head of the board of education who's a white male is extremely for it.

I also knew I was watching while others were. Now my daughter 17 has had 26 surgeries for her rare disability called Arthrogryposis. I was 17 yrs old when I had her. I’m 34 and starting to design clothes for disabled.

I moved back to CT 7 months ago… hubby got a terrific job in TN than a new boss and coronavirus came we had to move back to CT. Thank GOD that the housing market sucked for 3 years while we were gone. We moved back into our home in a lil village called Northford. I’m enjoying pizza again

I left that fucking state and now live in China. China has its faults (what place doesn't?) but I made some good friend here and learned some things along the way. Connecticut didn't offer much in the way of "friendship" and there is not much to see, or do, to be honest, and yes things are quite expensive there but that is the price you pay for living in an area with a higher standard of living. Connecticut is not terrible, there are places that are much worse, but it's certainly not an area to develop long lasting friendships or stable social life. I would say the only bright spot for me would be the pizza....New Haven has the best by far in the region.
