Ah, the Dave Chappelle mindset of, "you can't care for LGBT rights *and* black people, you can only focus on one thing at a time! That means you have to be resentful of other people asking for fair treatment!"

In Chappelle's case it makes a bit of sense because there's zero overlap between black and queer people. There aren't any nor has there ever been a single queer person of color in the history of the human race. So it really is a "you can't help one and help the other" because they're two totally separate, unconnected groups that have nothing in common. And Chappelle himself is definitely not queer (which as he's black so it's physically impossible for him to be queer) so why should he use his considerable wealth and influence advocating for people who aren't him? And don't forget the zero-sum nature of human rights, you can't give rights to one group without taking them away from another, there's only so many rights. Dave has to be anti-trans, otherwise if they get more rights he'll lose his right to make transphobic comedy without people being angry at him.

Im so lost with the logic "we tried to help Palestinians but now fuck it let the genocide rip because what have you done for us recently?" Because these people are encouraging leftists to not vote and potentially allow for a Trump victory. That's why the Free Palestine movement has gotten so dangerous. What was originally well intended people protesting against Netanyahu's wholesale massacre has now morphed into nothing but red fash tankies unironically think that far right theocracy is based if its jihadists doing it and view things solely through an "America bad/west bad" mentality.

The obvious answer is to keep protesting and pushing for a better stance on Israel-Palestine, and then when the time to vote comes, doing what's pragmatic and voting for the lesser evil.
It's also important to realize that for every staunch anti-electoralist there is, there are dozens of nonvoters who just don't bother to vote because they don't care to. If your goal is to get people to vote, it's much easier to convince the latter group. Wasting energy on the other group, especially when they are protesting a genocide, is not productive.

No, they weren't. In 1948, when Apartheid was being initiated, they were violating the UN partition and trying to take over Israel. Then when they lost, they refused to acknowledge peace and finalized borders with Israel for decades and waged a terrorist war with Israel to this day.
When were Black South Africans doing that? Black South Africans didn't have any country or Fatah or voting for themselves, nor were their walls(walls built after the second Intifada). There was a clear system of oppression meant to give take away their political power. They didn't have a democratic country like Palestine has, their only country took away all their voting rights and power away. The entire application of apartheid is trivializing actual apartheid in South Africa and and insulting to South Africans. Apartheid wasn't another wasn't wasn't South Africa building a wall between it and another hostile nation like what Israel did, was it was it oppressing its own citizens on the basis of their race.
After the second intifada, Israel built a wall between it and Palestine to protect itself from further Palestinian terrorist waves, all the Palestinians who are calling building a wall to protect yourself from active aggression, "apartheid" are just butthurt that's it's harder to kill Israelis now.

People were angry at her for showing her support towards a candidate that will ensure the safety of her friends and loved ones. It isn't comparable to ALM vs BLM since the former is literally a racist response to the other and is objectively wrong. Again, are you going to tell me that black people showing their support for the Not-Dictator option in a very important election warrants the hate their getting??? Do you think they deserve to be bombarded with Anti-black sentiments because they're engaging with their own oppression for a moment instead of making 20 more Palastine donation videos? You might want to look a little deeper into the conflict going on here Vaush. Live ya man but you might want to sit this one out. Black women turned up and and turned out in support for Palestine in droves. They offered money, support, and great deal of effort to help the cause. At first it was great solidarity but recently, and I am with you in the idea that this might indeed be a psyop, many Black women who were leading the ground effort got extremely shit upon by the very people they were trying to help. They, I must say gracefully, withdrew their financial support, said they still think the what is happening is horrible but they ain’t taking the disrespect and actual threats that were thrown at them, they are just saying if you don’t come right don’t come to us and Demand our labor. A lot of the creators also spotted the psyop underneath the psyop. What you are missing is the reason they disengaged. They are being dragged for supporting Kamala and the Dems who the protesters think are too soft on Israel. Have you noticed all the big Anti-Israel protests are ONLY targeting the Dems? Like the hubbub in Chicago right now? Why? Ask yourself that? Someone is either pulling the strings here or making a calculated mistake. While the Dem support for Gaza is a bit weak sauce it is an election year and care must be taken. The Republicans are already smearing the Dem support for Gaza as antisemitism. Why are protests not being held against the Republicans who are very pro nuke Gaza ? The Republicans are planning another Muslim ban and to deport Muslims who are here legally for fuks sake but all the pressure is aimed at the Dems?
There are accounts saying if you vote Dem you are on Israel’s side so don’t vote or don’t vote Dem when that would give the Republicans the win which would work out Sooo much better for the Muslin community and Palestine 🙄. You are right that something in fucky here but this is very much not about identity politics in itself.
What you are seeing is that Black women who have spotted the trap and are refusing to fall into it. They were being attacked for supporting Kamala even though they were doing the work in support of Palestine. They were being told that unless they denounced support of the Dems they were not doing Enough to support the cause. They rightly clapped back and said fine you don’t want us if don’t do exactly as you demand? We out cuz, peace and best of luck because we ain’t tanking Kamala’s campaign or abandoning our support of her because that’s nuts. Yes the Dems could do more but they are the Only ones on Palestine’s side right now and alienating them like they are doing to the very people ( Black Women) who are supporting them is nuts. Someone is pulling strings somewhere to try and push a double agenda of tanking the Dem campaign and getting the Black community to pull support from Palestine. They win either way so it’s pretty smart if devious.

It's been 10 months and we're still waiting on the incumbent Democratic president to do a single thing to rein in Israel. Even Ronald Reagan curtailed the Israelis when he thought they had gone too far. This whole thing is idiotic because we have to pretend that Kamala Harris couldn't just come out with a statement supportive of Palestine tomorrow and put this matter to rest.

It comes from a long standing perception that we are the only ones willing to fight the American oppression of marginalized American people and immigrants. I believe my people dont understand that the fight is actually in court and the ballot box not public opinion. We cant come to every time of oppression and say "See we told yall about the powers that be, where are yall when we go thru it"? Its not productive and it just makes an enemy out of a potential ally. Everyone cant come to the same conclusions as you until they go thru the same things as you. We are left to the racist quite often when theres supposed to be sooooo many non black antiracist out there. Thats what makes us hesitant to support any groups outside of American blacks who feel like we are the tip of the spear against oppression since we've literally been fighting against it for 300 years in modern times. Whether the perception is right or wrong is not the point. The point is we have to do better at building a coalition and that starts with building a coalition of many against the small minority of the powerful. A colony of ants can defeat a lion.

Yeah, I disagree with some of the lines (Palestine isn't the only place on Earth, etc) just because of how they've been used to dismiss the genocide before, but I doubt he meant to do that. Overall his point seemed pretty agreeable, I just think Vaush went in primed to disagree. Also when he talked about bringing race into it, the Congolese guy didn't do that? It's like he was still arguing against the previous videos.

Vaush you're missing a lot here - almost all this debate is centred on literally one central issue:
"Should we vote for Kamala Harris?"
The obvious answer is yes. But so many pro-Palestianian activists on tiktok are being anti-electoralist, and claiming that a vote for Kamala Harris is tantamount to being complicit in the genocide. You, who normally are so anti-anti-electoralist, have completely breezed past that and I am unsure why.
But that is what people are responding to. And in that sense, yes, it makes sense as a black minority or an LGBT minority or whatever else to say well, no, sorry, but if being pro-Palestinian requires me to not vote, if being pro-Palestinian requires me to give up my safety and my democracy and my future, then I am not going to be pro-Palestianian. If that's your purity test, I've failed it.
Now obviously, people should still pressure Harris, obviously people should still be active against the horrors happening in Palestine, and also obviously none of that is incompatible with also voting for Harris.
But yeah, overall, this stance is so contradictory with your usual stances. I cannot fathom why are you approaching it this way.

@@alexanon8345 Well with the caveat that 99.9% of people are utterly incompetent at making arguments and being coherent, the general argument being put forward by black creators is:
"If voting/campaigning/being excited for Kamala Harris makes me anti-Palestine, as you claim, then I am anti-Palestine I guess". This, in broad strokes, is the crux of the argument happening on tiktok, and Vaush is firmly putting himself on the side of anti-electoralism.
Some go a bit further, and the general argument is: "Why should I have to sacrifice for you, when you have not sacrificed for me?" This is an argument that is emotionally resonant with people (regardless of the truth behind it), but also yes, it it is an ethically shit argument. Here I agree with Vaush.

Because that's not the thing being said by the people in the video either way? The specific people being reacted to are just doing the race war BS.
It's two different groups of idiots fighting each other while those of us who understand politics laugh and throw tomatoes. Did you not notice that one of the people speaking early on was still doing the "copmala" bit? I don't think she's part of the "black women for Harris" voting bloc here.

Vaush, I don't normally comment on your videos. But i really feel like it is important to highlight a key detail in the black argument that's being missed in 5 second clips. The vast majority of the discourse began from pro-palestinian creators being anti-electoral promoting the position that you cannot vote for Kamala Harris and support palestine at the same time (like Maya Ayooni and Giana Rossol) and being told to remove the Palestinian flag in their bio if they plannned to vote for her . The reason why black creators are using the language that they were being told to "sacrifice themselves for Palestine" is because in this 2024 election foregoing our inability to vote for the democratic party just because of a singular issue is a risk we cannot take as us and other minorities living in the US will potentially be put in very bad conditions if trump or his 2025 agenda wins this election. While I can't speak on subsequent psyopping actions.and the few black creators that have gone further and expressed their own opinions that this makes them no longer support palestine entirely, the vast majority still support palestine but still find it distasteful there's a massive movement telling us (as an ethnic group at risk in this election ) to not vote for a candidate who so far has shown to be more malleable towards the issue than any other viable alternative. And I hate to see that you're mainly observing the few agitators that spoke on these sentiments in a very it poor fashion, because you yourself agree that antielectoralism is the complete opposite way to handle the Israel Gaza situation, where not voting could mean the far right could get into power and make the situation several times worse.
