mtg works very similarly to this. it has a stack of which spells go onto before resolving. there is only one "instant" speed in mtg but you dont have to respond to the last effect put on the stack you may target any effect on the stack as long as it hasnt resolved yet. so there is no "CHAIN BLOCKING" in mtg. which what confused me most about yugioh. i really like this mechanic though its refreshing lol

At the time of this video there was no card game that had similar thing like chaining but now there is actually a very good one, it’s called legends of runeterra made by the league of legends guys. Has many cool mechanics. It’s what I primarily play and I’m just getting back into yugioh after not playing it for like 10 years xD
Edit. After watching the video it sounds like the took a lot of inspiration from yugioh for LoR. I just feel they made it a bit more easy to understand and clear while keeping it interesting and complex enough to express skill

For example: I normal summon squamata, which has no eff, I can immediatly activate an el shaddoll fusion and then the opponent can respond right? Opponent cannot activate a spell speed 2 or higher effect before me, unless I pass priority?

you make a mistake on priority with the normal summoned of injection fairy, your the turn play as the priority to activated torrential tributed in response to your own summoned or any other card that are spell speed 2 not spell speed 3 because spell speed 3 would be negating the summoned and that is the timing before being succesfully summoned and a spell speed 2 card that does not negated the summoned cannot be activated in the negated summoned timing unless another spell speed 2 that does negated the summoned do so. If you do not then you opponent as the oppertunity to activated torrential tributed, or any other card that respond to the summoned that are spell speed 2, or even card that does not respond to the summoned that are spell speed 2. Take a look at this example, your opponent special summoned black luster soldier -envoy of the begining with the summoning condition, when the special summoned his successfull, the turn player past priority because he want to activated nothing, the opponent activated MAXXC from his hand, chain link 1 Max C, after Maxx c resolve you do not draw a card for the special summoned, because that timing is over. Take a look at that rare senario, your opponent Special summoned Black luster soldier-envoy of the begining with the summoning condition, you flip face-up royal oppression, to be a valid play here you are force to pay 800 life points to negated the summoned, because if you refuse it become an invalid activaton since you can't activated spell speed 2 card that does not negated the summoned in the negated the summoned timing, but then you want your MAX C to work since your opponent does not add to the chain you activated Mst that is on your filed and was set for a turn already targeting your own royal oppression, then your opponent does not add to the chain, and you add MAXC, your opponent does not add to the chain and then you don't neither so it move on to resolving the chain MaxC chain link 3, MST chain link 2, Royal oppression Chain link 1 , so the highest number resolve first MaxC resolve you do not draw a card yet, then MST chain link 2 resolve destroying royal oppression, the chain link 1 resolve Royal oppression is a continuous trap card and it is not on the field at resolution so it cannot negated the summoned, on the negated the summoned window they can only be one chain, so when that chain is over it will go to succesfully special summoned, and then you draw a card for MaXC. Edit: However in goat format Royal oppresion would have to be already face-up to work with that same example

    Hello!
My name is Eduardo, I'm from Brazil and I'm a big fan of "Yu-Gi-Oh!" since the game was released.
I play for fun with my friends but we usually have doubts about the rules of the game. My question is:
In the OFFICIAL RULEBOOK (Version 10), in page 51 is said:
"Actions which cannot be Chained to
You can only create a Chain by responding to the activation of a card of effect. Summoning a monster, Tributing, changing a monster's battle position and paying costs are not effect activations and therefore you cannot respond to those actions using a Chain."
If my opponent normal summons ou flip sumons a monster. How can I respond to its action with Trap Hole, if "Summoning a monster" does not allow me to respond its action?
I did not get it... Is Trap Hole useless? Did I miss sometinhg important when I was reading the rulebook?
    Thank you!

In yugioh if the card says that it can be activated in a particular condition or moment it can be used even if normal rules do not allow it *as long as you fulfill those conditions*
If I normal summon Gem Knight Garnet you can trap hole him even if his summon does not start a chain
Another example , evenly matched is a very powerful card that, at the end of a battle phase, will force both players to control the same number of cards, but it is a trap and can only be used after it was set for a turn, but is says that it can be activated from the hand if you control no cards

I don't know if anybody will read this but I'll just give it a shoot. When I played YuGiOh Master Duel I tried to chain Dust Tornado with El Shaddoll Fusion to stop my opponent from summoning a Fiuson Monster but despite the destruction of El Shadoll Fusion it's effect still triggerd in the graveyard. Can anybody tell me why he could still summon a fiuson monster?

    • @rianskischipanski3951
      @rianskischipanski3951 2 года назад

I think its because dust tornado just destroys the card but does not negate it. So even if el shaddol is in the graveyard the effect still resolve and he can summon a fusion monster. In this case to stop it you need a card who negates spell/trap cards or something loke that. Just destroying a card after it is acitvated isn‘t enough tho
