Thank you so much for this simple video. The 'specialist' who came out to deal with my key issue told me that he had to demolish the keyfob body in order to access the battery. If only I had come to you first.
Perfect - your instructions worked great. I took it to the shop to get changed and they told me they couldn't get the back off so never replaced the battery. I saw your video and just did it myself in less than a minute. Thank you
Ye wtf, i was missing ''Whatupppp RUclips, its ya boy the car key man, dont forget to follow, subscribe and hit that like button, (shows an intro of 25 seconds with music that is fun for one time) so before we start this video look at this annoying app i call my sponder''
Awesome...that didn't take me 60 seconds! Thank you very much...I knew it was going to be something like that, but I didn't want to crack or break anything by just experimenting. This made it all clear!
Thank you very much! You saved me a ton of time and you helped me not scar up the key fob by trying to figure out how to open it. Very much appreciated!
Thanks .. I tried pressing the 2nd lug but felt like it was going to snap ... watched video and confirmed ... then I had the confidence to push a bit herder. A classic case of easy when you know how ... thanks for passing on the knowledge.
Thank you! Short, simple and you showed everything important (specifically where to pry, and the battery type) - unlike some of the other crap videos on RUclips. Thank you sir!
Both my keys went flat when i parked up in our hotel car park pre cruise. This video was so helpful in helping opening them so I could identify battery type and renew thanks
Excellent video. Helped me stop faffing around with the key fob and accidentally causing my car to unlock or the back window to open! The manual instructions are not clear about the small tab to flick up with a screwdriver or some such. Now just waiting for that big fat 2450 battery to arrive which admittedly lasted ages. Thanks very much.
I tried other videos but this is the only one that really showed you how to get the battery case off which is the hardest part - and there's a bit of a secret to it!
Excellent! I knew BMW would make it difficult so you would have to take it in or I would break it some how prying open. Thank you The Car Key Man and RUclips!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was about to call a dealership for a quote. I'm so glad to see your RUclips. I opened it and ordered CR2450 battery from home depot @3.29 w/ free shipping!!!
after changing the battery only a few weeks later, the car showed a nearly empty battery again, although i used the right replacement (cr2450 3v). is there a specific brand you can recommend?
Thanks so much - saved me trying to find the manual and having to hope instructions for this were in there. Even managed to open it with just my fingernail thanks to that little tab you pointed out 👍
Thanks! I looked at the valet key that was removed in step 1 and thought why not use the blunt end of that rather than a flat head screwdriver and it worked straightaway.
Thanks helped. Did notice though that there is actually a place on the key to fit your screwdriver and pop the cover off more easily. But same thing, still did the job. Thanks
Helpful. Thanks. I was wondering where lil spot is to pop the back off. ❤️ mines has been saying it needed a new battery for nearly 3 months. Possibly 4 🙈🙉Surprised it’s still going. But I guess I’ll change it now hehe
@@corychaplin9625 yeah but I’d just pull the lil hidden key out of the fob for the door.. some don’t have the lil key and you’d wanna make sure you have a backup fob. But that’s why I had the longest procrastination record. lol also when it doesn’t start you put the fob to the side of the steering wheel. The neck. There are arrows you sit the fob inbetween and it’s starts the car.
@@TheCarKeyMan Thanks for your message, followed your instructions yesterday having already bought a replacement CR2450! Job done, well pleased, thanks again 👏👏👍👍
If you push the key blade into the slot the other side of the button (shown towards the top at 0:38) it pushes against a clip to release the back cover. It didn't fully release it on mine but it makes it a lot easier to then use a screwdriver on the tab as shown in the video.
Thank you for the video, I was about to destroy my fob because I was getting so frustrated ..... so I took a breather and searched and your video popped up.... thank you again! Cheers!
Will it’s affect the key fob if the battery replacement took more then a min? My key fob don’t work anymore.Someone else changed the battery last time so maybe its has something to do how long they took to replace it? I heard it’s should be no more then 10 seconds from the time they took old battery and put a new one in. Is that true?
This is what the internet is made for. So simple for you so helpful to me! Thank you!
Thanks Stephen :)
Thank you for a short, simple and straight to the point video. It helped me out a lot!

Thanks for making this simple and quick - hate the videos that have 4 hours of life story before they show you what to do !!! Thanks
You're welcome, no point messing around! Thanks for watching :)
After 5 years, your video still was the solution for changing the key battery in my 4.20, Thank you!
Great stuff, five years eh! Can't believe it's been that long

love that....
You deserve it for taking your key to BMW to get the battery changed.

Years later but you helped me tremendously in a clear and simple way. Thank you!
Me too. Years later and just saw this video 👍🏻
I was having a hard time to open it ,now it took me 15 seconds to open it. Thank you 🙏
You're welcome, so glad it helped :)

Looked at several videos before I found this one. This is by far the clearest. Video is impeccable. Verbal explanation ditto. Thx
Thanks Allan, your kind words are really appreciated :)

Cheers, dude. That solved me a headache.

Thank you for the video. The BMW (2015 335Xi) instruction manual is useless. Your method is so simple.
