The overpass infrastructure in Montreal/Laval (potato/patato) is a nightmare. It’s old and built for traffic from 70 years ago………..not today. Add alternate frezze/thaw cycles and sand/salt to the mix and you have a recipe for disaster.
I live in Montréal about 5-10 minutes from that overpass. I agree: it's in LAVAL, our neighbour. And by the way, 1.76 millions peoples in Mtl, not 4 millions.
They didn't say "Greater Montreal". It's almost like calling Oakland as San Francisco just because it is part of its urban area. 6:40 "In the wake of the disaster, the people of Montreal demanded answers" They made it sound like it was in Montreal.
While I like shows that examine disasters, it's clearly obvious that the "experts" are nothing more than presenters reading prescribed texts. I mean here they use a physicist to describe a city in a social context. It's like they knew they were paying for people and then decided, these experts are maybe too much of a loose canon, so let's get writers to write stuff for the experts to read from.
Montreal is again in that show. Congratulations 🎉 The show also covered the Champlain bridge that had to be destroyed. They also should make a show about our Olympic stadium that lost a 10 ton concrete slab in the middle of the night or again the roof of that same stadium that failed multiple times and cost a fortune to its tax payers. Let's not forget our Ville Marie tunnel that also lost pieces of concrete in the middle of the highway. Oh I forgot. A huge chunk of stone falling off a building downtown went through a sunroom and killed a customer in a restaurant.
Quote the Canadian Encyclopedia, "English is the majority language in every Canadian province and territory except Quebec (which has a French-speaking majority) " Why not learn the other official language of Canada, which is French? Quote you, Quebec spends more money punishing English speaking Quebecers than it does on roads
Do not blame engineers for poor quality materials and shoddy inspections. That is usually the result of the influence of bean counters changing plans to make it look like they also contributed.
Quebec has lots of neglected infrastructures and bad or cheap engineering to reduce costs in short term mentality.. also some corruption with contractors.
That town in France, why did the folks who drilled that first line the hole with Pipe, either metal or thick plastic? Lawsuit incoming is what would be my reaction
This channel keeps popping up for me, but I normally stay clear from channels who appear to just be 're uploading' content from other channels ( MythBusters... almost every 'recommendation' to this channel I had before, was a reupload of a MythBusters episode... Ripping of other content creators eventually will mean less actual quality content. And I know for a fact the crew of MythBusters has a lot of legal issues with their copyrights due to channels like these. But hey, call me narc, score brownie points 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂@@KH40T1C_yt
@@crash3473 Perhaps you can elaborate. I remember the stadium in Montreal or the Champlain bridge. Let's see your examples. Another aspect is the other 6 have province's weren't subsidized ( welfare) like Quebec has been since 1957.
Ok well here's some examples, The Dyck Memorial Bridge in Saskatchewan collapsed the same day it was announced open. The Birdtail bridge in Manitoba collapsed and destroyed an entire fleet of train can caused mass destruction to the surroundings. The Balgonie Highway Overpass in Saskatchewan was also collapsed due to design issues. I could name more but they aren't infamous like the Quebec Bridge, since they didn’t cause many casualties. You bring up the Montreal Stadium like if the Ontario Government or other provinces can budget the projects properly and deliver on time. All projects are bound to go overbudget and have delays. Each provinces have their own problems but blaming it on the language is the most laughable argument ever. You guys claim to be a bilingual country, yet only 19% of Canadians can speak and write both English and French. The only province that is the most bilingual is Quebec, with a 46% bilingualism rate, followed by New-Brunswick with 34%. I don’t insult nor discriminate you for being English and not being able to speak French, so don't come insulting us for being French and strongly holding our identity. You probably hold something that is part of you as well and that’s okay, but insulting others for doing the same is just ridiculous. And yes, we are subsidized, but so are 5 other provinces. We use those subsidized money to bring benefits such low tuition cost. We have the lowest tuition cost in Canada and people outside of Quebec come here to study, then leave right afterwards. We are rich in natural resources but lack the workforce to extract it because most people don’t stay after studying. They either go back to their province or leave the country. Since you mentioned that Quebec was going to double the tuition rate, it won't make a difference even if we double it anyways since it would end up being around the national tuition average of Canada regardless.

Greater Montreal, come on
This show was from BBC, more made for entertainment than being accurate.

This did not happen in Montreal. this tragedy happened in Laval Quebec. How did they get this so wrong...
Oh you mean it happened in greater montreal? Ok
Clickbait :( Laval isn't Montreal, and Montreal isn't Laval. Not cool of videos like this to lack distinction and accuracy.

Quebec is one of the few places in the World where a Government is proud to discriminate against a Minority.
Why? I speak English, so does that mean i can't go there in peace?

I remember when this happened. Tragedy. Very incompetent build.
Why did they cantilever it when it could've been supported by a solid reinforced concrete wall? No need to cantilever.

You’re showing the new overpass which uses steel beams, not concrete. You clowns can’t get anything accurate
The overpass did not collapse in MTL. It fell in Laval, an island north of Montreal. Get your facts straight and learn your geography.
Quebec engineering at it finest. Raise the tuition on anglophone universities and get French flawed engineering. Bravo Quebec😂
Lets not talk about the flawed "English Engineering" from Saskatchewan and Manitoba as well 😂
