    Beautiful interview, beautiful music, beautiful soul. Absolutely loved listening to Mindy speak about her experience leaving the LDS church - a journey I completely resonate with. When she spoke about being an individual who lives her emotions out loud, I really felt that - as soon as I joined the dots and realised the mormon church was built on so many lies, there was no way I could carry on and pretend it was all okay. My personal integrity is so much greater than that. I live my truth out loud and my truth led me away from the mormon church and back to my authentic self.

    After 41 years in the church dealing with the betrayal was the hardest thing I'd ever gone through. All the pain, shame, guilt for lying to people on my mission etc. Then to learn that my dad had known all the stuff I learned the whole time and he never told me the truth. I thank God for Matisyahu and his music to get me through that time.

    Wow, so inspiring to know that someone so talented and accomplished was not accepted to so many programs and yet continued forward in resourceful ways... Allowing rejections to "feed a little fire"... A genuine love for music and for connecting with people is an amazing motivation, in addition to that fire. This is what I need to hear during a difficult time in my life.

    That really hit me that even after leaving the faith, the THOUGHT of confronting her parents had her shaking. I can't fathom why an association with any group or institution would be worth stirring up that kind of fear and anxiety in your own children. Mine are adults now, but I sure hope I'm not having any associations or attitudes that would make my kids ever feel like that. If I am, I sure hope I recognize it.

      I agree. Once the toothpaste is out of the tube, it ain’t going back in. Currently going through it rn. I told my wife and told her I feel like I’m in the matrix and I discovered the red pill and that it’s a matrix. Part of me wishes I could go back to living in ignorance and bliss bc living outside the matrix is scary, but the journey is required once you decide that face the fact that your reality isn’t what is has been presented to you as abs once you take the rest pill and learn this stuff.

    Listening to many ExMo (like myself) its recurring how we used the same terminology: "It didn't add up", "it wasn't just one thing"; "I felt heartbroken over it". People that is still an active member of the church has no idea how hard it is to go along with what one feels its a massive eye opening. Never heard of Mindy, now I'm a new fan.

    I love this Mormon Story so much. I knew of Mindy's Anchor song and it's one of my favorite songs in general, but to now know that she grew up Mormon and then managed to get out to lead her own life... is so awesome. AND on top of that, she's made a beautiful album about her journey which, truly, all the songs are just... nice to listen to, faithful or not! I find myself listening to the Rabbit Hole album constantly, now, especially as I draw artwork. Congrats on breaking free, Mindy.

    The same questions happen outside the mormon church. I Was the breadwinner whilst I lived with my fathers daughter I was the breadwinner as he was disabled but was able to look after our daughter. I too was sensitive to comments from so called friends and neighbours. My work opportunities were not in my local town. I left Bedford (United Kingdom) as soon as we had things sorted after separation and she went to university. I have not looked back.

    I first learned about Fanny Alger twelve years ago. I found ways to rationalize it because I simply could not believe that my "Holy Ghost" testimony was not true after all. It took years of pile-up shocking information to make me realize that the church was a sham. Jeff Lindsay's Web Site could no longer help me to hold on to my faith. I left the LDS church forever, four years ago.

    Going through the motions is ok! I go through the motions a lot as an active member, but i also know what it means to Endure to the End 🙂
    God bless Sister Gledhill and Anyone having doubtful moments of the Church.

      NoStoppingit7 You are a Mormon apologist, keeping the lies of JSmith (witch is worse). What do You have to say now that the CES letters are available ? What do your have to say now that the Gospel topic essays have been put and approved by the first presidency in LDS.org (showing that those who got excommunicated for telling the truth were right ? If Oliver Cowdery was a liar he could not had been as evil as J Smith was.
      Put as much zeal digging in church history to seek for the truth as you do to promote lies, by the way you won't have to use anti-Mormon literature just use "history of the church" "journal of discourses", the journal of J Smith etc....

      @@nostoppingit7827 if you believe your "research" establishes Joseph Smith did not institute plural marriage for the LDS church you are either grossly ill informed or straight up delusional. OR you attempt to deceive others. Read D&C for starters. Just what exactly do you think JS was threatening Emma with destruction over?!?! He, leading her to believe it came from Jesus Christ, told her she would be destroyed if she did not accept the "commandment" which was for JS to practice the "eternal" covenant of plural marriage.
      I don't know how old you are, but those of my generation were well aware it all started with Joseph Smith; it was a known and accepted reality, and we were taught it was an eternal principle that would one day again be practiced (as distasteful or distressing as some of us found it).
      But really, who cares which guy started it; it's a sinful. shameful reality of early mormon history that was promoted and practiced beginning with the top leaders of the church.
      But yes, it MOST DEFINITELY, began with Joseph Smith. Himself.

  • @williamwhite791
    @williamwhite791 5 лет назад +4

    Condemning LDS is itself a cult and religion, almost all of which is centered on Joseph Smith being a polygamist and his relationship with Fanny Alger. First of all polygamy and marriage is not something that the government has any right to dictate - it's a matter of liberty and freewill. If people want to be in a polygamist marriage so be it - who cares - it's THEIR life not yours. As for Fanny, the marriage age used to be lower up until very recently in history. If you think a 14 year old being married or giving birth is somehow wrong, then go ahead and condemn God who immaculately conceived Mary when she was 14. And go ahead and put numerous famous historical figures on the sex offender registry who had wives under age 18. All these criticisms of Mormons are weak, fueled by hate and resentment from ex-members who have an axe to grind because they chose not to live by the standards of the church.. Judge a church by the fruit of its works - the LDS church provides much humanitarian work in the world, their organization is patterned perfectly after the original church, their communities are strong and they stand up for higher moral integrity. Those who have problems with this have been manipulated and deceived by the satanic Babylon system which has infiltrated every aspect of our society and culture. If you don't want to live by LDS standards then leave and go be part of babylon, but spending all your energy trying to convince others it is wrong says more about you than the church.
