  • We recently sailed on the Disney Fantasy and chose the Cozumel Ruins, Chocolate and Beach Break excursion. We visited the San Gervasion Mayan Ruin site along with the Mayan Cacao Company and then finally a brief stop at the Playa Mia Beach Club. This type of combo tour is available to other cruise line passengers from NCL, Royal Carribean, Carnival, etc. I have two young children and so in the video, I address whether or not this excursion is kid-friendly and give my full review.

Thank you for your honest review!! We are bringing my 15 months old daughter and 3yr old son next year and this helped me decide if this would be a good excursions for us and our 11yr old twins, as well!

Thank you for this video. I am doing research for my 3 year old niece and I'm definitely not doing this one until she is older.

Glad it was helpful! For a 3 year old, I would definitely recommend just going to the beach. 👍🏼☀️

Thank you for sharing! I love that you said 8 or 10 will be better ages for the kids. My kids will be exactly 8 and 10 when we take this Disney cruise! I was hoping for Chichen Itza but I am quickly learning it is way too far of a drive to make it back on time. Did you hear of anyone making it work?

Hi Ashley! We also wanted to visit Chichen Itza but were afraid of not being able to make it back in time. Disney did not offer a trip there in their excursion list, likely because of the risk of it being too far. I consider all the possibilities like the van having mechanical issues, the boat docking too late, etc. and since you would have to book through a outside party, the cruise will not wait if you are late returning to the ship. I did not hear of anyone going there on this trip. But I think if I ever go on a cruise which docks at the mainland, I would try it. That way we would not have to catch the ferry from Cozumel to the mainland (Playa del Carmen) and would save some travel time. I hope that you and your children enjoy Cozumel and the Mayan ruins. 💕

Weird question, but could you leave your beach towels on the bus/van/whatever while touring the ruins? Or did you have to lug them around with you? Thanks for the video!

Yes, we were allowed to leave our beach bags/towels on the tour bus while at the ruins. The driver stayed on the bus and when he wasn’t there, we were told that the bus would be locked. I left all my non valuables on the bus and it wasn’t a problem. Hope this is helpful!

I’m not sure when mosquito season is but we were in Cozumel in early January.

Did this excursion include lunch? Thanks for this review doing this next month with my 7 year old.

Hi Amanda, thanks for checking out this video! Lunch was not included in the cost of the excursion, however we did receive a complimentary welcome drink once we arrived at the Playa Mia Beach Club. They did have two food options which were buffet or a sit down menu (at an additional cost). Hope this helps and enjoy your cruise with your family! 💕
