In one of your previous ( laser ) videos I said what a smart dude that doesn't come off superior. So smart and nice ! What a cool guy to share all your knowledge and ideas.... Gotta watch them all of them. I hope you wife is on some, she always hiding !!! Lol... Thanks for sharing.
Having just won the monthly mod contest on TC Magazine, I bow to you, the Mod King :-) Really love the dinette conversion .... so important to have a comfortable place to just sit and relax and no straight back factory design offers that. I was also very impressed by the modified Little Giant entry steps you designed. We have been using the 3 step Little Giant for access since we started truck camping. Your rig is the Taj Mahal compared to ours :-)
Charlie, could you do a video about your scooter? Tell us about the make/model, why you chose that particular one, as well as talking about the mount system you created, and why you chose not to trailer it or to pull a toad instead. Also very interested to know how it has functioned for you as a second vehicle. Has it met your needs? What other options did you consider before choosing your current set-up? I'm guessing using the scooter is more convenient than de-mounting the camper. Cheers.
Hello Sunshine Viking - I have a 155cc Yamaha Smax which we love! We upgraded to this scooter from our previous 80cc Honda Elite. This was because my wife and i always ride together, and the smaller Honda only traveled at about 45mph and was underpowered for a lot of the roads we traveled on. The new Yamaha has great power and allows us to travel together up to 70mph which is perfect for any location. We chose carrying and sightseeing on a scooter over disconnecting the truck from the camper because its much easier to load/unload, and much easier to park especially in places like Key West (one of our favorite places). The scooter weights about 325lbs and fits comfortably on my truck's front receiver hitch. I built a special carrier, and made a video talking all about how it mounts. The video can be see at: ruclips.net/video/gRhl5Gc76yI/видео.html We love traveling and sightseeing on the scooter because it give us a whole new level of enjoyment in our adventures! We have used this scooter all over Yellowstone and Big Bend which are extremely large National Parks and it worked out great. We load the cameras and drone into the rear carrier and off we go for the day. Note: we always wear our red helmets and highly reflective fluorescent yellow riding jackets for safety. Our goal is to ride safe, and be seen!
Thanks Charlie. We have a travel trailer right now, but are hoping to switch over to a truck camper when we retire and hit the road for our own adventures. The scooter is looking like a nice option to consider. Cheers.
Hows the truck and camper holding up! Im in the market and torn between an Arctic Fox TC or a travel trailer. I like the idea of a TC being able to go anywhere. Do you ever wish you had more room inside? Im super excited as next year ill be full time! Thanks buddy!
We love our Chalet DS116RB double slide truck camper!! We started camping years ago with a 28' tag-along and like all good campers upsized to a 37' 5th wheel! However, when we decided to take a 2 year trip around the USA to see all the states, I wanted something more nimble and able to get into any gas station, camp ground, state park, etc. Therefore, we bought the truck camper after a ten year search for the perfect one that would allow my wife and I to live harmoniously together during our 2 year trip! As you know, the inside space is 'tight' and having two slides allows us just enough private space so that we don't get on each others nerves during our long trip! Absolutely get the truck camper over the travel trailer!! No need to register, inspect or insure it, and no extra tolls either!!
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I agree the TC seems to be a lot more convenient when it comes to moving around, and like you said no extra tolls or registration fees!! Do you use a Dually or a SRW truck? That my only concern, the Dually being difficult to drive around town in.
Hi Charlie, I had one of my customers have a specific need and had to find an answer to it. I came across this interesting timer that has lots of possibilities (timers.shop) It has so many was of use and the ability to work with up to 10 amps. I was thinking it would be neat in my RV to have a timer to count down when needing the water pump active for a few minutes at a time. It will automatically shut off so it couldn't be forgotten. The timing can be set anywhere from a second to 40 days. Plus way more. Check it out! Love the shop! -Jon
Sir you have done a beautiful job love it.
Your videos are the best, thanks...
The chairs and folding Table were brilliant. Tony
Your chalet seems bigger than a Host mammoth. 1st island I've seen in a truck camper. Thanks for sharing. Happy camping
I really give it to you for the lazy susan television mount and the compact washing machine. Brilliant! Tony
Where do you get the lazy boy chairs with swivel base and no legs?
Absolutely, you are the Mod King. I love your videos. Keep 'em coming.
