Love your Charlie Patton. My grandfather was Tom Rushen, Tom Rushing actually. He use to drive Charlie and others around the Delta to the different tonks on Friday and Saturday night while he emptied his juke boxes of nickels. Looking forward to hearing other Charlie Patton songs from you. Peace, Just Sam
That is amazing! I might be a bit late to the draw, but do you know any stories? Do you know if anybody still would, even secondhand? I stopped in Holly Ridge once, for a pilgrimage, and after searching the whole cemetery I finally found him. Far back left corner. I headed back to my car for some whiskey and my guitar meaning to sit with him, and this man flags me down from over where I'm heading. First living human I'd seen. I couldn't have been hard to spot, a 22-year-old hippie in clothes from India-- I was visible from space. But turns out he was Asie Payton's son-- who's also buried there-- and we drank on his lawn and traded stories and played blues (despite not really knowing how to play the guitar he was still somehow better than me), and he brought me into his house because his "old lady would like my songs." She did, and she sang me old black spirituals a capella, in the deepest Mississippi accent, like I've never heard anything sung before. Probably won't ever again. I spent into the evening with these lovely strangers, and the only information I could get on Patton was that she saw him all the time playing on the porch of the old general store, at the only intersection. Watching the people that came to see him. One of the more surreal days of my life.
Really incredible job. Only minor critique I’d note is that at 1:04 you seem to say “I’m goin down now”, whereas I hear Patton say, “Where I’m goin now”. But that’s an extremely minor quibble. You nailed that cover better than anyone I’ve ever heard.
@@davidandthedevil Aye man! Subscribed brother! Love to you from Diné Nation. These sounds of Robert Johnson, Son House, Leadbelly, Blind Lemon Jefferson and Blind Blake are my heros. April 11th is my 13th year playing slide guitar. It's a great therapy and Influence. Thank you for keeping the music heard in Scotland. These people are the endless paved road for Modern Music:]

Wow- what vocals. Made for blues
As they said bout Charley. "That voice is coming out of that body." Real goodness
Charlie is my favourite and this was his best record! ❤
By far the best...brilliant. Really captures the spirit, vocals, and the slide playing is spot on. Bravo!

That album cover has always crepped me out! Love Charlie though
A ladyfriend said that to me once, when I pulled that record. A week later I left her at a gas station forever.
Is Charlie still making music ? I haven’t found any new info or music from him .
I go by David And The Devil now, But I'm still here !
You did a fantastic job here. What tuning you using my man?

What Tuning is your guitar to?
It's in Open G, capo set at 3rd fret. It's a fantastic tuning because it's Power Chord A in Open Tuning.
Try it with a slider/knife
@@kaecake9575 open G tuning. One of those .
Thanks a lot for the clarification
