When using item filters, you can drag stuff from the jei menu straight to the filter so you don't actually have to have that stuff. (Saw it in a random video no idea if it will work for you)
if you turn on the config option in create to make lava/water's "make detected 10000-block volumes be considered infinite sources for pumps" apply to all liquids, a fun project can be making a giant chocolate vat and pumping it out into a bunch of compactors (and then optionally: destroying your original factory)
