Love it! I have a pair just like these, I traded a big collection of very rare but poor condition comic books I collected as a kid for them and they just rock...Thank You!

Thank you for taking the time to give them a second chance at life. I remember seeing them when they came out, they were so unique.

Use hairdryer to heat it, and use a vacuum all low power to suck out the dust cap.
I did it to a Rokit8 G2 and it was impossible to tell the dust cap was ever damaged.
Make sure the hose mouth is smooth and do not have any burrs, and DO NOT PULL on the vacuum hose while it is on. Smoothly slide it on the dust cap and it will gradually pull it out if you have enough heat.
Heat gun is a bit too hot, i usually prefer hairdryer to prevent overheating.

My memory of this speaker is that I had 2 different friends that purchased a set of these exact speakers as we were all into home audio at the time, maybe 98 or so
. I had a room at my place just for listening to music and it was a perfect huge nice large open cathedral ceiling room again dedicated to just listening to music with some sound treatment and everything. I was a bachelor at the time and we were all into home audio so pre-internet, it was kind of of a big deal.. They started by each used their sound equipment and settings and we compared each sound to my set of Snell type D's with a cheap Harman Kardon receiver I had and it was amazing to hear the difference. We listened to each of the Sony's first and then as soon as that first song started on the Snell's it was shamefully apparent to them how much their speakers sounded like crap comparably. Sorry just my one only actual experience but a great time nonetheless. Love my 'D's still to this day.

The original video had some issues so I ran it through Shotcut again and made some changes so the sound & vision are better now ; )

Yep Dan Anagnos designed the loudspeaker SS-M9’s.This was the 2nd incarnation of the M’7’s with the tweeter being upgraded to I’m guess a Vifa tween and Pearless midrange and woofer. SEAS mid range in the M9’s.
Still have my venerable M3’s which soundstage like nobodies business as well just no bass.

How much do you want for the Sony SS-M7's? Been trying to find these. If you decide to sell, I'd love to take them off your hands depending on cost and logistics. Anyway, thanks for the vid.

Electrolytic caps in the woofer circuiti see some polycaps, probably in the tweeter circuit. Nice quality.

I think the scanspeak drivers, the mid-range driver is a scanspeak looks like it, too much filling especially in the bottom I would have taken it out they could be made to sound really good

I was very tempted to hook the drivers up to my test equipment gets some specs and run them through bassbox pro. Wanted to pull some stuffing and add a proper rear port like the M9A have. BUT I figured it was better to just restore them to stock since I bought them just to flip. The guy that bought them from me is a huge Sony fan. He was so happy to get them.... then messaged me the next day and immediately put them back up for sale. These speakers are better to look at than listen to some times. In my own experience I've heard many speakers costing hundreds to thousands of dollars that don't impress and are sold based on audio snake oil bs. Thats why I tested against the Sony CS5, I'd bet in a blind test most people would pick the Sony CS5 $100 speaker over the SS-M7A $1500 speaker. My 2 cents, a high price tag doesn't always equal high fidelty.
