Welcome Back to Part 7 - Renovation Progress Update!
The day has finally come, our renovation is complete and officially handed over! 🎉
This clip was recorded while the unit was still a bit messy, as we were busy cleaning up and doing laundry to meet the Chinese New Year deadline. But overall, the renovation process has been incredibly satisfying seeing everything come together piece by piece, week after week. We spent quite a bit, but after seeing the final result, it feels like a worthwhile investment.
Not sure if my ID firm will come across this, but either way, a huge thank you to / @leinterioraffairs and Gloria (our ID) for bringing our dream home to life! (Gloria, if you do see this video, feel free to clip it but please keep my identity a secret, haha!)
The overall renovation experience exceeded my expectations. Of course, no project is ever perfect though that’s not on the ID. As homeowners (and, in my case, an experienced project manager), we also have the responsibility to oversee things and ensure they align with our expectations. If something seems off, it’s best to speak up ASAP. Sometimes, it’s just a case of contractors not triple-checking with the ID or homeowner before executing the job. But in the end, everything turned out well as long as you're not too OCD. 😆
For my own little project the DB compartment and network setup, everything went according to plan. In hindsight, I could’ve done it differently and saved a few hundred dollars, but oh well, lesson learned. I got the wired backhaul running throughout, with a 5Gbps broadband connection. Downloads in the living room are blazing fast, though speeds drop to 2.5Gbps in the common room due to my switch. (I’m too broke now to upgrade to a 5Gbps or 10Gbps switch, maybe in a few years when my StarHub contract ends, I’ll revisit this. 😂) That said, 2.5Gbps is still crazy fast, and my desktop motherboard supports it, so that’s a win.
For those curious about where I got certain items, feel free to PM me or drop a comment, I’ll get back to you when I can!
