Toga is another example of people feeling shackled by the perception of their quirks. We’ve seen multiple examples that the quirk you are born with affects the way you are perceived in society. Shinso grew up with people telling him that he was a villain because of his villainous quirk. Shoji and Spinner were marginalized because of their heteromorph quirks. The Todoroki family was destroyed because of Endeavor’s obsession with creating a “masterpiece” with the perfect quirk. Now, we see Toga felt like she had to wear a mask to repress herself because her normal self wouldn’t fit in with society. Instead of people helping her deal with her urges and finding a healthier outlet, she was told to just bottle everything up. Naturally, this didn’t help at all and only made the problem worse. I liked the symbolism after Ochaco’s quirk awakening where she said that she wanted to touch the pain inside of Toga’s heart. Given the nature of her quirk, Ochaco is saying that she wants to take all of that pain inside of Toga and make it “weightless” so that Toga doesn’t have to feel weighed down by societal expectation. That moment was a nice touch to end on.
Luci Christian (Dub Ochako), Leah Clark (Dub Toga), Ayane Sakura (Sub Ochako) and Misato Fukuen (Sub Toga) all put on a masterclass performance for this episode 👏🏾👏🏾I was left speechless and close to tears from watching both sides😢🥹 Also, a big FXCK YOU to Toga's parents

I got to meet uraraka’s voice actress once at a comic con. She was really cool. What I didn’t know is that she even voiced Medusa from soul eater. Now that’s range!
They do have an answer for hard to control Quirks: Tartarus. It's not just a jail but a "detainment facility" for people with highly dangerous Quirks. It's where Eri would have gone if he wasn't personally taken in by UA. Like you said, the League really did have legitimate gripes with the world. 😅
Toga is nothing like a Vampire she can eat regular food and that's just her quirk Instincts and personality but it causes her get insane and everyone around to mistreated her behavior and calling her a "human abomination" She can be the Best medical hero with her quirk
The sad thing is, Toga had the potential to be a great hero in many ways. Being able to use other people's quirks if she loves them? Being a biological match to people who need blood? She could be a straight up superhero or medical hero. So many great and productive uses of her power, and her personality is so loving that she'd have been willing to do it. But they never taught her that. It was all just repression. No healthy avenues, only verbal and physical abuse.
''if you still feel like having a chat even a little bit...then i'll give you as much blood as you want!!!'' MY GOD!!!! DONT TAKE THEM FROOM ME 😭💔💔💔💔💔💔 7:53
yeah IMO I think she can do some good cosplays of MHA characters. Like froppy and other female heroes (can you imagine her as miruko. I think she can pull it off)
We got a bit of a glimpse into Toga's past back in MVA but I'm glad Horikoshi delved a little deeper this time. Once again, a lot of the parents in this series kinda suck. And this also says a lot not just about the parents but about the quirk counseling system and hero society at large. Rather than trying to provide Toga with a healthy alternative or teaching her that just because she has a quirk relating to blood doesn't define her, they instead lean into the stereotype that we've seen ever since Shinso was introduced. People with quirks that are seen as "scary" or "villainous" are treated like villains. Called freaks or subhuman. The quirk counseling only tried to convert Toga into being "normal" and her parents called her inhuman. There was no attempt to help. There was only forced conversion. And because of a lack of support, she eventually became the monster they accused her of being. I see people talking about how, "Oh. Just because they have a sad backstory doesn't justify their actions". And, obviously. Their backstory is to show how they got their mindset. Not to say that they're right. However, that doesn't mean that the message they're asking is wrong. That's what Horikoshi is trying to convey. That's what Nagant's entire character is about when she first appeared. To ask the question, "After the heroes defeat the villains, what next?" If the answer is that everything goes back to the way it was, then they failed. They didn't learn anything. More Toga's, Toya's and Tenko's will be created. The system currently in place is one that rejects people who look different, people who think different, and people with quirks that are considered to be "villainous". Even if the heroes defeat the villains of today, unless they change the system in place, they will actively be creating the villains of tomorrow. And in that sense, unless there is true change, there can be no victory. And I think this all ties back to Twice's line in the Overhaul arc. "I may be a villain, but I'm still human". These people were treated as less than human in some instances. And only by acknowledging all of their qualities, both good and bad can the human inside of them be understood. Ochako was able to find the source of Toga's pain. Her parents and those around her called her less than human. An anomaly. They said her smile was creepy and sickening. Ochako saw that same smile, that same person. And she said Toga was the cutest in the whole world and that she's willing to spend the rest of her life giving her blood. Ochako knows that blood is the way Toga feels and expresses love. For Deku. For Stain. For Ochako herself. And she showed Toga she was willing to accept all of her love. Ochako succeeded in saving a villain.
As someone likewise, it was a pretty retarded plot. No doubt VA and director, animator did excellent job... But this whole Togachako plot was pretty retarded. Glad it ended

The scene from the "expert" is an allegory to convertion therapy. Which they don't work, they only cause more harm and trauma and the "experts" that do convertion therapy should be revoked from their licenses and criminally prosecuted. Is really sad, that kids are abuse by not only their parents, bu also by "experts" that are not really "experts". Psychologist, that do convertion therapy, are monsters and only using their expertise to cause harm, not only to the victim, but to people around them. And parents, that take them to this kinds of therapy are abusers and should get their kids removed.
They forgot Quirk counseling exists. There’s an entire system dedicated to what you’re talking about. 😅 The issue with specifically is somehow, they legitimately didn’t have an answer for her to express her quirk because of her desire to want others blood. So she was told to never use her quirk and ignore the impulse which drove her mad.
I think it's more like quirk counseling doesn't work if the way society works is repressing any element of distress. Hero Society is working through put the dark stuff behind the rug instead addressing it like Nagant says. Brainwashing by omission, repression instead of cooperation
It's cut out from or otherwise downplayed by the show itself but one the reasons Destro's ideology had such a strong following was due to people feeling pigeonholed into a specific definition of "normal," and Toga is a prime example, not an exception. Quirk counseling, as it existed before, was a flawed system that barely dealt with symptoms rather than any cause.
the problem is that the quirk counseling offered by the current institution isn't healthy nor equipped to deal with this, and that with each generation quirks only get harder to handle. Her quirk therapy was essentially "don't do that, be normal" which isn't fucking helpful; Any competent counselor would be able to see the NUMEROUS positive ways that Himiko's quirk could be utilized if they even cared enough to stop and think for a moment
Togas not a vampire she doesn’t need blood so lot just anyone’s blood would do, the whole animals blood or whatever argument doesn’t really apply since she only wants the blood of the people she loves. Which that’s fine she just needs consent.
4:05 The thing about Toga is that whether or not it's actually her Quirk that's the cause of it, she feels a certain type of way when it comes to blood. She sees blood as a good thing and is confused by why no one else thinks the same. In other words, she believes she's "normal" and everyone else is either "abnormal" or faking that they don't have the same kind of thoughts and feelings. This, along with being demonized by her parents and a counselor or psychiatrist or whatever, is what has led her to her path. She stuck to her conviction that the way she feels is the correct way to feel, not just that there's nothing wrong or odd with it, and she's willing to, at least, harm others to prove this. If anything, her Quirk makes it easier for her to get more enjoyment out of the path that she's chosen. It's why she could align and surround herself with others who think similarly and are okay with harming and killing. She has the mentality of a serial killer who gets enjoyment out of what they're doing because I doubt that her Quirk urges her to act as she does any more than Stain's does. As we've learned with All For One and One For All, as well as Star and Stripe, Quirks are as much of a person as though it was they themselves.
*If I had a nickel for every time Uraraka made me cry like this, I would have a lot actually. But between this and her speech last season... :,) Toga finally got the love and validation that she needed and deserved all this time. If I’m being honest, despite everything she’s done, I do feel incredibly sorry for Toga. She was unfairly ostracized for how she expressed her love, but now, she’s finally met someone who accepts her.*
It touches my heart to see how much you guys were affected by this episode. It made me very emotional too. You're right, this anime is one of the absolute best ❤
Shipping aside, Toga's story is such an obvious queer allegory. Being told she was born wrong, her parents wishing she was "normal," just wanting someone to accept her and treat her nicely, desperately wanting her parents to help and accept her, sending her away to get "fixed" by someone, ect. Horikoshi isn't subtle with his allegories and this is very on the nose. As a queer person it's very relatable. She literally just wanted someone to listen and accept her and could have been one of the most valuable heroes if she was treated nicely by even one person when growing up. Instead she turned into a villain who, outside of AFO, could have destroyed the entire world.
@@HelenaSan425 So you got the first two words of the whole text, assumed the other person was saying Toga and Uraraka are in love with each other, and ignored everything else?
Shoji, Koda & Spinner were Heteromorphs I also think Tsuyu & Tokoyami are too because She's a Frog & He's a Bird with Dark Shadow. While Spinner & Shoji were Victims of discrimination also Koda's Mom because of someone who looks Menacing & Not Human, Everyone else assumes you're Villain and they were all from different backgrounds when Quirks started happening.
Toga's Quirk being the reason she was ostracized and forced to conform to society is like trying to fit a block into the wrong-shaped hole. Though she found a place in the League where she felt she could belong she couldn't express her struggles because none of them had overcome their own personal scars left behind by society. An escape which at best was like trying to fix a leak with shoddy patchwork - a temporary solution without resolving the issue. Then, Uraraka came along and became the person Toga could confide in. More than just acceptance, she wanted to be understood, and Uraraka became that person - her hero.
Heteromorph. The word is Heteromorph. Hetero = not the same (opposite Homo, which means same. That's why heterosexual means attracted to the different sex, and homosexual is attracted to the same sex) Morph = shape (Such as amorphous, which means without shape. Water is amorphous) HeteroMorph means they are not the same shape as a normal human. Not to be confused with people like Iida, who are human shaped, but have unusual additions (his engines).
I think it was Eric on the Normies who said it, but Ochaco went PLUS ULTRA in this episode not just from her upgrade, but because it would have been SO MUCH EASIER to just beat Toga. To just kill her. That's *easy*, but it wouldn't have changed what made Toga into what she was. Reaching out and talking to someone, REALLY saving people, is hard. It requires that plus ultra mindset, and it's fantastic to see this show embody it not just in the case of power, but in the case of the true heroism of SAVING PEOPLE no matter how hard it is. Ochaco actually reaching out to Himiko is such a good example of how much farther she has to reach to save people.
Every season, from 1-6, there's been one or two episodes that hit those emotional beats that will make you tear up or cry like a baby. Most of the episodes in Season 7 have been emotionally draining. Wait till you see what's coming in Season 8!!!
I love Toga & Uraraka in this Episode 💖 Toga had such a Rough Past with her Parents and the League made her live the Way she wanted, Being told her smile is unnerving & they just didn't understand her. Uraraka really got through to her despite still being a Villain and telling her that her Smile is Beautiful 🥲😭
watching this reaction got me.....i almost died a week ago 10/25/24 and I just cried about it....man....already finished the sub weeks ago but this reaction and the VAs....did that
I originally watched the subbed (i like both. Dubbed VA did amazing ❤). Hearing Himiko ask if shes cute in the subbed is honestly so fricking adorable and heartbreaking at the same time. There's just something about the way the subbed VA says it that makes the whole scene better. I strongly recommend those who have only seen the dubbed version of this episode to watch this episode (or at least a clip) in the subbed.
Luci Christian the voice actress behind Ochaco also voiced Wrath from FMA 03, Rico from gunslinger girls(an amazing anime and IMO super underrated ), Nami from One Piece.
No, she voices Nami from One Piece. Robin’s VA is Stephanie Young. How did you mix them up? Nami and Ochako sound almost exactly the same that it is impossible to NOT see that both have the same VA.
Just think of both yoga and twice being accepted by society and people understanding them they legit woulda been great blood donors helping people but the society was terrible
Ending is overhated. Guarantee the anime onlies will love it a lot more than manga readers just like how a lot of manga readers hated on a lot of the content that happened this season, yet a lot of people agree now that this is potentially MHAs best season. Not to mention we're most likely getting extended pages and chapters with the final volume in december
Togas parents did nothing wrong. Trying to curb your childs clearly sadistic urges isn't something wrong. Sexual perversion is only okay if it's a woman who does it. A lewd boy whose main goal in life is to ogle and molest girls is disgusting and must disappear. A psychiatrically unhinged girl who derives sexual pleasure from stabbing men and drinking their blood is cute and perfectly acceptable. If a serial killer displays no remorse for their actions, actively tries to kill you several times, and rants about how everyone else is wrong for trying to stop them from killing people, they still deserve sympathy if you both happen to like the same guy.
Honestly toga blames everyone else but herself. Hawks had a worse childhood and turned better by seeing the positives. Her parents made mistakes but they are in shadow so we only see it in her perspective. They tried to help her and even had a normal life with friends and school and ruined her own life because she had a crush on a boy I don’t feel bad for her
Can't cry or feel much when it's about a serial killer that just stabbed to kill her and killed the hero she saw smile in the memory... Still a very sad backstory.
Honestly, I still have a tough time sympathizing with Toga because I feel bad that her quirk makes her this way and I know it’s not her fault, but she also can’t just be allowed to do whatever she wants. Her quirk is inherently creepy and she has to drink someone’s blood to even activate it. There was no way for her to live normally in society tbh. The best case scenario for her would’ve been to lose her quirk somehow as a child and just live as a quirkless person. In many ways, I don’t blame her parents for being afraid of her. How would you react if your toddler looked at you with a giant smile through a mouthful of dead animal blood? That’s scary af and would absolutely have you thinking this child is a danger to others
Outstanding voice acting in sub and dub. Stylistic choices were great. But I had a hard time feeling any real connection or level of sympathy to Toga. The backstory gave context but I think it had a hard time following the well-built, emotional story of the todoroki family.
They are not trying to Sympathize with the villains or u the Audience Wether you disliked toga or not Ochako is trying to save her as a hero as theme of the show is about saving everyone and villains are still humans not monsters How about Go back watching Dragon ball
Dubs have drastically improved. If you still have a 4Kids TV view on dubs, that’s on you. They have reached a point where the level and talent of voice acting can no longer be denied.
Seriously buddy if you just want fighting then just watch jjk or demon slayer becoz this anime give more importance to drama more than just pointless fighting actions

It touches my heart to see how much you guys were affected by this episode. It made me very emotional too. You're right, this anime is one of the absolute best ❤
we need a full couch for the final season!
Is amzing season 7 iş my top show have nice day❤️
You need to whole gang for the next and final episode!
I cry EVERY. TIME.
Tears in my Togachako eyes
ochako was never into her
This episode was rough Ochako and Toga are my 2 favorite female characters in the show
Toga literally goated
She amzing l love toya and toga here l fell şad for them all❤
In this scenario, no one would have blame Ochako for killing Toga, she was too dangerous and not in her right mind. Luckily Ochako knew talk no jutsu.
Ochako is not into her 💀
@@HelenaSan425 So you got the first two words of the whole text, assumed the other person was saying Toga and Uraraka are in love with each other, and ignored everything else?
Bro stop 😭😭😭 not everything needs to about real world issues just let me enjoy my fantasy while ignore all this shit thats happening
@@alt1f4 i agree with you

Shoji, Koda & Spinner were Heteromorphs
I also think Tsuyu & Tokoyami are too because She's a Frog & He's a Bird with Dark Shadow.
That's why heterosexual means attracted to the different sex, and homosexual is attracted to the same sex)
Morph = shape (Such as amorphous, which means without shape. Water is amorphous)
HeteroMorph means they are not the same shape as a normal human.
I love Toga & Uraraka in this Episode 💖
Toga had such a Rough Past with her Parents and the League made her live the Way she wanted, Being told her smile is unnerving & they just didn't understand her. Uraraka really got through to her despite still being a Villain and telling her that her Smile is Beautiful 🥲😭
watching this reaction got me.....i almost died a week ago 10/25/24 and I just cried about it....man....already finished the sub weeks ago but this reaction and the VAs....did that
Damn the VAs knocked it out the park
I hope the VAs for Himiko and Ochaco got a lil bonus or something because gaddam
Suraj lookin dripped out fr
Yuri wins
She not in love with her she help her here have nice day❤️
Luci Christian the voice actress behind Ochaco also voiced Wrath from FMA 03, Rico from gunslinger girls(an amazing anime and IMO super underrated ), Nami from One Piece.
No, she voices Nami from One Piece. Robin’s VA is Stephanie Young. How did you mix them up? Nami and Ochako sound almost exactly the same that it is impossible to NOT see that both have the same VA.
@@ByteDWolf whoops sorry, I was thinking one thing and typed up another , I fixed it okay

Navi should model she is a masterpiece
Got some heavy Maka x Krona flashbacks, great episode.
3:33 cmon subs thats not a counselor we dont do that, try a convertion therapist instead
Just think of both yoga and twice being accepted by society and people understanding them they legit woulda been great blood donors helping people but the society was terrible
Underrated fight. ¡in your face darkrai!
Heteromorphs
Like Heterosexual lmfao
10:07 don’t hold your breath the fandom is split on the ending, it felt rushed imo
Ending is overhated. Guarantee the anime onlies will love it a lot more than manga readers just like how a lot of manga readers hated on a lot of the content that happened this season, yet a lot of people agree now that this is potentially MHAs best season. Not to mention we're most likely getting extended pages and chapters with the final volume in december
oh great another episode about Toga
Jo Jo’s Bizarre Adventures, Vinland Saga season 2, What If Season 2, Blue Lock 🔒, Hell’s Paradise. U guys are really really really really slow
Dub was great but original VA’s take the price this episode, original version was just so incredible
Could you all try to watch this and previous episode in sub, like sub is insanely good ngl, they are soooo good in sub😭
Hawks had it worse
I agree with you here voice acting hit me Hard have nice day❤️
Man I wish they'd stop trying so hard to make the audience sympathize with the villians. Its just as cringe as Naruto bent on fixing Sasuke
They are not trying to Sympathize with the villains or u the Audience
Wether you disliked toga or not Ochako is trying to save her as a hero as theme of the show is about saving everyone and villains are still humans not monsters
How about Go back watching Dragon ball
one of the worst episodes
It is absolutely bizarre hearing this in dub. My ears feel gross now.
Y are u sub elitist so damn annoying 🙄
Don't worry, anime dubs have improved in the last few years. That gross feeling can change into music to your ears
please stop watching animes dub
Please shut up and keep that bullshit to yourself 😁
They love it tho so iş ok have nice day❤
Dubs have drastically improved. If you still have a 4Kids TV view on dubs, that’s on you. They have reached a point where the level and talent of voice acting can no longer be denied.
@@اميرمادرا they’re just too lazy to read 😪

Most trash and pointless episode. Shes still gonna go jail anyways
Seriously buddy if you just want fighting then just watch jjk or demon slayer becoz this anime give more importance to drama more than just pointless fighting actions
That's what you think
Im gonna hold your hand when I tell you this…
no hater its actually goof
Not sure tho she amzing villain she dont want to go too jail her and toya l fell şad for Toga here ❤
