      +Richard Ojeda what happens if I had a little screw in one of my back tires? tire is not punctured because the screw was too small
      I removed it and nothing happened
      But what if i'm 1mm away from a exploding tire???

    • @TheRichardF10
      @TheRichardF10 8 лет назад

      outspolsis To be honest, im not sure what to do in that situation, but for sure, you should not go on the freeway/interstate in that case. City driving is fine, but you should get your tire patched or, more recommended, have it replaced.

    • @aryaahmadi4029
      @aryaahmadi4029 8 лет назад

      your tire will not 'explode' due to a small puncture or even a big puncture (depending what part of the tyre has been screwed)

    As cool as low profile tires are you gotta be careful so it does not bend the rim when you go over a hole.

    Expel water out the sides ?
    Many years ago I drove around on Yokahama A509's which had a chunky open tread. Best and safest tires I've even had, then they stopped making them.
    Have a look at the tread on most tires these days. They have three or four deep groves along the axis while the side channels are blocked.
    These deep grooves are fine when the tires are new, but 10 to 20 k's later they can't expel enough water and you hydroplane.
    Throughout the video and in the animations you're showing tires which have water exit channels both along the axis and laterally. But it's tough to find a tire now with an open groove pattern along BOTH the axis and to the sides.
    I'm no tire expert and I don't want to sound like a smart arse but in my mind it seems that the more ways water has to get out from under the tire the safer it is.
    Just look at F1 wet weather tires.
    I get the impression that tire manufacturers are making tires that become useless sooner so you have to buy more tires. I understand the business strategy but even if you do the right thing and check your tire wear regularly and see plenty of tread, you may not realize how unsafe your tires are until you find out the hard way.
    And it's my opinion, just my opinion, that tire manufacturers are playing a dangerous game with safety to sell more tires.

      Ellesmere Wildwood Every block tread tire i owned has been excellent. I have owned a lot of the other style tires, never had good luck with them.
      They are great as highway eco tires, but they are terrible in rain, snow, mud, etc.
      My go to tire now is the Douglas Xtra Trac II/All Season.

    I don't even know if the patterns in each of my SUV's tires are the same... would that change anything o~o
    This high tech tires really do grip to rocks under the snow and in off road for the best traction possible, the bad part is when your car is really heavy and the rocks just stay stuck in any space they can find between the ridges.

    Your engine or transmission have no idea of the speed you're going, and spin the same way at all speeds. A highway guy puts 200K miles on his car going an average of 60mph. A city person going with the average speed of 20mph(3 times slower) put exactly same motor hours and stress on car components at 200K/3 = 63K miles.
