I hadn't heard of this till the livestream yesterday and the way the character and npcs moved on sand like it was a ps1 ice level was hilariously horrible. Sweet Baby Inc should not be involved in game making. They don't make games. They "consult" how a game should be made and in the process hijack its creativity to suit their own needs. Such an entity should not exist. "But what about... uh... reaching more audience or uh making games project good culture." GAMES ARE DISTRACTIONS! They are not meant to do good things unless they are purposefully designed for a government/community/private competency or skill need. Like war games for future lieutenants and police games for future police. They don't serve any other good, except a deterrence on preventing harm by having an outlet so crazy people don't go do crazy stuff and end up in jail and you don't have to spend money that could be used for the poor on keeping these people behind bars. So yes, games are supposed to be violent and have all sorts of nasty stuff in it. Literally everything that is immoral should be in a video game. It does make you less sensitive to it, it doesn't indoctrinate you to do it. 99.99% of people do not do what they see in a video game in real life, unless the skill requires it. There is no skill that you could use in real life concerning activities that are illegal. Why? First you have to want to do something illegal and it should be quite obvious that it is illegal, should even be considered as such in the game itself. Second, there has to be a need to do it. Why would someone waste the effort to learn how to abduct children in a game, if what they need is already satisfied by playing the game, plus they don't have to worry about any consequences since it is just a game. Do you get that? People are even less likely to do what they see in a video game just by playing the video game. You only have so much time in a day. If you spend 12 hours playing GTA, and 8 hours of sleep and the rest eating and doing what comes after eating, what time is there do what you see in the video game in real life. Now no one is going to play a video game for 12 hours unless there was something wrong with them, but even if there is something wrong with them, being so distracted is a good thing. Don't you think? Most people have to be the intended audience unless you are producing a specific niche and that niche has to possess support from the communities you are trying to sell towards, which means the games have to be impressively good, impressively sound and impressively innovative. There is no way to do that unless some alien designed it. Humans borrow from each other. So innovation? Not happening. Humans are flawed, so being sound? Not happening. As for good, you can make some ultimately good, but it is not going to fit with the business model game developers and producers are required to follow. So it is better to make the game you want yourselves and not require businesses to do so as detrimental association can in turn hurt your message and make the opposite of what you want much more prevalent. This will eventually happen like with Doom Eternal attacking wokeness. You'll just see that as the norm.
You don't understand. SBI isn't interested on making games. They want the exact opposite: to DESTROY the gaming industry. And they're far from being the sole DEI company in the market. Thing is, they've already made progress on that front. I can't think of a single Western modern game worth buying. Ubisoft is trash. Microsoft is trash. Sony's Western studios are trash. Wasting money on actors is one of the biggest signifiers that a game is going to suck ass these days. I say acting and actors are secondary to the process and shouldn’t take dev money away. I could care if the character I’m playing as is Norman Reedus or Jodie Comer. It’s about gameplay, if you’re more interested in the acting shouldn’t you just focus on that area . All this star humping undoubtedly adds time to dev and clouds the play. For example: Alone In The Dark, Callisto Protocol . Just hire unknowns and spend way less money. Hype hype hype

I'm just over here disapponted that Deca Police and Fantasy Life 2 got delayed. I hate mainstream gaming, always have. I hope Level 5 is ok. One of the best devs out there, they just never get any attention.
To be fair outside of Ni no Kuni most of their games scratch a very specific niche that isn't particularly big (puzzle fans with Layton, creature collectors with Yokai where only Pokemon and Palworld were successful, and anime sports game with Inuzuma Eleven and their biggest successes were both some work in other companies' larger IPs, specifically working on Dragon Quest 8 and 9 with SE...Rogue Galaxy had good potential too but Sony failed to market it well and with current day Sony I see no shot of it ever getting revived, same for Dark Cloud which are 3 games I think would sell well if made today as jrpgs have grew their niche quite a bit to at least more often than not get around 1 million sales or at least half a million for smaller jrpgs unlike the PS2 days where if you weren't Tales/FF/KH/Pokemon you were lucky to get 100K plus (even Persona and Atelier, both 1 million plus selling games now, barely hit 100 to 200K back then and most didn't even hit 100K. If they and Namco go with a console Ni no Kuni 3 and not another mobile game I feel like they'd have a good shot of seeing revenue spike up a bit (at least enough to keep them going anyway) but at the moment they really need Deca Police and Fantasy Life 2 to be good on release (though I have concerns for both as they don't look as good as the other games I mentioned above and I don't have as much interest in them tbh so if I don't have the free cash when they release and there's something else I want more I'll likely skip them).

There is no skill that you could use in real life concerning activities that are illegal. Why? First you have to want to do something illegal and it should be quite obvious that it is illegal, should even be considered as such in the game itself. Second, there has to be a need to do it. Why would someone waste the effort to learn how to abduct children in a game, if what they need is already satisfied by playing the game, plus they don't have to worry about any consequences since it is just a game. Do you get that?
People are even less likely to do what they see in a video game just by playing the video game. You only have so much time in a day. If you spend 12 hours playing GTA, and 8 hours of sleep and the rest eating and doing what comes after eating, what time is there do what you see in the video game in real life. Now no one is going to play a video game for 12 hours unless there was something wrong with them, but even if there is something wrong with them, being so distracted is a good thing. Don't you think?
I hate being the voice of reason. I hate proving I am smarter than probably this entire species or at least most of it. But it shouldn't even be needed for me to do any of this. You all should know better.
Nevertheless, you don't reach more of an audience by trying to appeal to moral virtues. No one plays a game to be the good guy. The good guy is a consequence of things in motion you have to resolve. There is no intent in a sane and normal person to do good things, especially in a video game, when you could do those in real life and you have the satisfaction of a real person's gratitude. It is like sex in a video game, no one plays video games for deeply romantic and compassionate reasons involving sex. It is solely to do bad things that won't be consequential since it is all fake. Does anyone play Doom to save humanity? F humanity, I am here to shoot demons. That is the purpose of video games. And when you go against the purpose, you estrange customers. It is like toilet paper not meant to wipe your butt.

And as for being a hero, you are not playing the game to be a hero. You are playing the game to beat badguys, but beating up bad guys is a crime in the real world. So like I said, the purpose of video games is to be a distraction and a deterrent to prevent such things in real life.
So Sweet Baby Inc.'s desire to do this stuff either implies absolute stupidity or absolute evil. Maybe both. Either they want people to do the evil in real life by not having an outlet or they are following ideology that doesn't correspond with reality.
I also want to point out with outreaching a certain demographic. Most people who play video games are not people of color in Northern America and Europe. Most people who play video games are not queer.
Most people have to be the intended audience unless you are producing a specific niche and that niche has to possess support from the communities you are trying to sell towards, which means the games have to be impressively good, impressively sound and impressively innovative. There is no way to do that unless some alien designed it. Humans borrow from each other. So innovation? Not happening. Humans are flawed, so being sound? Not happening. As for good, you can make some ultimately good, but it is not going to fit with the business model game developers and producers are required to follow. So it is better to make the game you want yourselves and not require businesses to do so as detrimental association can in turn hurt your message and make the opposite of what you want much more prevalent.
This will eventually happen like with Doom Eternal attacking wokeness. You'll just see that as the norm.
You don't understand. SBI isn't interested on making games. They want the exact opposite: to DESTROY the gaming industry. And they're far from being the sole DEI company in the market.
Thing is, they've already made progress on that front. I can't think of a single Western modern game worth buying. Ubisoft is trash. Microsoft is trash. Sony's Western studios are trash. CDP is trash. Activision Blizzard is trash. Bethesda is trash. Warner is trash. The list goes on.
Things are worrying on the Eastern front as well. Square, Capcom and Bandai are deep in DEI.

Had this game on my wish list, *until* I saw all the reports of what SBI's "involvement" in it was - and then I removed it. Still feel bad for poor Sara Ryder and her beautiful character model actress, after what Bioware did to her appearance in Andromeda... (Who helped them do that? SBI or a knock off?).
Are those who hire "let's go insult as many customers as we can" trouble makers like SBI stupid enough to think that most of their customers don't see what's going on here, and don't like it at all? Wasting money on actors is one of the biggest signifiers that a game is going to suck ass these days. I say acting and actors are secondary to the process and shouldn’t take dev money away. I could care if the character I’m playing as is Norman Reedus or Jodie Comer. It’s about gameplay, if you’re more interested in the acting shouldn’t you just focus on that area . All this star humping undoubtedly adds time to dev and clouds the play. For example: Alone In The Dark, Callisto Protocol . Just hire unknowns and spend way less money. Hype hype hype

I'm just over here disapponted that Deca Police and Fantasy Life 2 got delayed. I hate mainstream gaming, always have. I hope Level 5 is ok. One of the best devs out there, they just never get any attention.
To be fair outside of Ni no Kuni most of their games scratch a very specific niche that isn't particularly big (puzzle fans with Layton, creature collectors with Yokai where only Pokemon and Palworld were successful, and anime sports game with Inuzuma Eleven and their biggest successes were both some work in other companies' larger IPs, specifically working on Dragon Quest 8 and 9 with SE...Rogue Galaxy had good potential too but Sony failed to market it well and with current day Sony I see no shot of it ever getting revived, same for Dark Cloud which are 3 games I think would sell well if made today as jrpgs have grew their niche quite a bit to at least more often than not get around 1 million sales or at least half a million for smaller jrpgs unlike the PS2 days where if you weren't Tales/FF/KH/Pokemon you were lucky to get 100K plus (even Persona and Atelier, both 1 million plus selling games now, barely hit 100 to 200K back then and most didn't even hit 100K.
If they and Namco go with a console Ni no Kuni 3 and not another mobile game I feel like they'd have a good shot of seeing revenue spike up a bit (at least enough to keep them going anyway) but at the moment they really need Deca Police and Fantasy Life 2 to be good on release (though I have concerns for both as they don't look as good as the other games I mentioned above and I don't have as much interest in them tbh so if I don't have the free cash when they release and there's something else I want more I'll likely skip them).
