For the past few months Idid not post any comment though i did after every episode.This is due to a personal loss.Of course I have been regularly following all episodes and directots appeals
One more feature of Agraharam I observed in Kalpathy Palakkad Kerala is that each house has only one seperating wall of owner .Other wall belongs to next house .
I would like to portray my thoughts here. It might be wrong in other people's point of view. If there are past bitter experiences between a daughter in law and a mother in law , daughter in law might not feel at ease to take care of the inlaws which I don't find it wrong, at the same time, if the daughter in law denies her husband who is ready to take care of his parents ( it's his moral responsibility ) then it's certainly wrong. So I feel it's a personal commitment of the kids towards their parents rather than seeing it collectively as taking care of inlaws/ parents from a girl's side. Moreover certain parents show as if they are willingly going to senior citizen home. I can definitely vouch that it's not that willingly they are going. It's because they have only that option left , so they make that choice as a blessing ( stating that they don't want to meddle with children's growth or life). Agreed. But the kids of present day generation will know the value only when they reach 70/80+ but by that time , these parents would be long gone. Again going abroad is a personal choice . But When there is contentment , we wouldn't even think of taking that choice is wat I feel. Money cannot buy happiness .
Sending parents to old age homes OR leaving them at home & "settling" abroad are no different from each other. Its unfair to overlook the 2nd case and consider only the 1st case as a sin.
I really think “sin” is a very harsh words to use. When the children leave to find better education or better prospects away from their parents, I don’t think they realize that repercussions of this 25 or 30 years down the road when parents age. There are tons of opportunities present but 30 or 35 years ago a lot of us had to seek better opportunities outside the comforts of our home. Now that we are settled in our new homes for almost 35 or 40 years, it is very difficult to come back leaving our children and our homes. A lot of people do try and come back to settle in their homes after retirement. But I think we should not be judged on the fact that we chose to leave home for better prospects . Most of the parents also do not want to come live with the children in a different country away from their comfort zone. We do the best we can to take care of our parents and make sure they’re comfortable wherever they are. So please do not generalize and label people did leave home as “sinners”🙏🏽

Brahmins lived in the first ring around temple .So it was called first garland(rinng).They had to maintain the temple.My agraharam is Krishnapuram near Kadayanallur in the Tenkasi dt(ex Tirunelveli dt).We have a perumal temple at one end and sivan temple at the other end.

Hv mixed feelings abt this episode After observing two old people at home, its a challenge to take care of them With their whims and fancies When the carer is middle Gen... 60+, the next Gen having gone abroad or away, the older Gen not becoming any wiser or graceful with age, its a struggle... Its to be seen, if the Character Gowri will be this passionate with her husband 's parents.. The first Gen has seen Avayam living with her dad, this fifth Sivaraman living with his daughter...... Any lessons to be learnt????
Ppl living abroad, no doubt want to be away from the responsibilities of a joint family and want to have an independent life, without any restrictions . How many Ppl keep their parents with them even if they can afford to? This is from my personal experience in my own family.
