I like the cdi setup. Have you ran the engine without the drive belt to see what rpm its running at full throttle? You can also mess with the torque converter for it to engage at different rpms. On a 30 series driver pulley, you need to drill holes in the weights to lighten them. This will make it engage at a higher rpm. Also you can tighten the spring in the driven pulley, sometimes you need to drill a small hole to set the spring in a different position. That will keep it from going into high gear as fast. For some applications they are fine as they are, but i usually end up adjusting mine to get them exactly how i want them. Looking forward to seeing how the clutch performs.
I cant get my TC to engage at lower rpms like I want it to. Tightening the chain helped a little. Ive got a good idle speed...Idk what I'm missing. Can anyone help? Coleman CT200U with Chikuni VM22 from Amazon

For those asking about that set up, this is what I did to get a steady 13.8 to 14 1/2-ish volts on an electric start Tillotson 212 with the factory flywheel: - Honda 31630-ZE2-861 Coil Charge (10A) - 1PZ FW1-R01 4-Pin 12V Full-wave Motorcycle Voltage Regulator Rectifier That coil is designed to put out something like 28 to 30V and 10A. it fits under the fly wheel. Snugly, but it does fit. The rectifier regulator is a full wave type, so it definitely doesn’t leave me undervoltage. I don’t know what it is rated for, amps-wise, but I guess I will see if it holds up. Hopefully whatever the amp output is is enough to charge a lithium battery and run some lights, and isn’t too much to burn out the rectifier regulator or battery.
So far, so good. I upgraded the headlight bulb to a 25w LED, the light’s on whenever I’m riding it, I use the electric start, and the battery’s stayed charged so far.

If you put a Max Torque clutch on get the 16T as far as I know it only comes with a 1” shaft hole so if your crankshaft is 3/4” you’ll need a sleeve and throw around a 50T rear sprocket then you will be able to run at around 60 mph.
Thanks for bringing back one of my favs....I bought a mini bike to work on after finding you and then others recently on youtube, and I thought I understood the clutch v torque converter, but now I'm not so sure. Video idea- can you brake down the considerations when deciding on clutch, racing clutch, versus converter and in the same conversation engine selection? For example, the decision tree someone would go through when they have a stated goal. If I want this mini bike to do at least XX mph, or have XX torque to climb hills, what are my options and then factor in price of those options. Doing a stage 3 build on a 212 does not seem nearly as economical as just buying a 301 off the bat, but with all the options out there its hard to decide what combo to go for. Thank for all you do!
You need a manual trans engine on that sucker like a 150 dirt bike motor or something. Maybe a ttr230 motor would be sick and youd absolutely fly on that thing if you wanted to but the manual transmission would allow you to stay at whatever speed you wanted and not worry.
