I'm surprised he still used that considering he sold his house because two people were dissolved and flushed down his toilet. You'd think he'd throw away a bike lock that was used to strangle someone.
even though this is one of the lowest-rated episodes in the whole show, it's one of my all-time favorites. it fleshes out so many characters in such a realistic way that, on first watch, it got me even more invested than i already was. this was the point at which i was truly blown away by how believably the arguments in this show are written (despite the insane circumstances that have led up to them), and just how grounded the show's tone can be. one of breaking bad's (and especially better call saul's) greatest strengths is how they can make you feel bad for basically any main character at any point, and totally admonish them at others, and this episode encapsulates that perfectly. it's fine that a lot of people find this one unremarkable or boring, but it honestly feels like a turning point of the series for me.
Weird that Jessie doesn't crash at skinny Pete's house like he does in El Camino. Maybe the implication is that it took the money Walt paid Pete and badger to be "hitmen" for Pete to be able to afford a house.
As it seriously seems like you intend to get through the whole show, I must ask, do you plan to go through all of Better Call Saul as well? Obviously thats just so much work over so much time, but I cannot say I would not be ecstatic lmao
I think so! Even though it’s a ton of work, it’s also still spread out over a long time! I guess the big question is whether I can maintain a pace of one video a week!
@betterwatchtv Props to you, because editing is a nightmare. I got like 1 hour into a video and I just haven't touched it in a while because it really takes the soul out of you lmao
Another interesting note! Paul's guitar in that music video is an Ernie Ball Music Man Eddie Van Halen signature model from the early 90s. It is distinctly notable that it is the EVH model and not an Axis model or Sterling model as the toggle switch is on the top of the body and not next to the volume. Very cool! Rare, sought after guitar.
Not really an important detail but when watching BB and BCS I noticed frequent Marx brothers references first with Todd's ringtone "lydia the tattooed lady". Walt makes another reference in this video when he tells junior "hilarious groucho", Howard Hamlin also references Groucho when arguing about the cease and desist order, and when Jimmy spills the coffee on the philly cops for Mike in BCS he calls it a "second-rate marx brothers routine". Kind of a lot if you ask me, also I find it interesting that each character only mentions them once and never again.
I came here: To learn about plot pieces that I had missed or underappreciated... I left here: A silent film critic who will never be able to fade into a show and enjoy it without constantly being snapped out of the cinematic daydream by small mistakes, oddities, and Easter eggs
I sometimes feel like the series should be called “I Ruin Breaking Bad!” 😬 Sometimes there are items in the first category… at least one I can think of in the upcoming “Fly” video!
I thought it was ridiculous of Jesse to act entitled to half of Walt's money. He would've been better off explaining his situation and asking nicely, although that probably wouldn't have helped either since Walt was going through it with Skyler at the time
If he had some unexpected reason to spend $60k then yeah I'd agree, but in this case he lost the money because of Tuco. I call that a business expense.
@@betterwatchtv i saw the other comments you answered all of them that's amazing as most channels don't even look back at their comments when they upload a video also thank you for your content i learned a lot with you i hope you have a nice day 😁
this is hands down one of the most underrated s2 episodes
Interesting! I’m attempting to rank the episodes as I do this video series, and I haven’t yet decided where to place this one…
I see what you did there
@@ewetwentythree good thing betterwatchtv didnt.
Oops!
Jesse uses the same bike lock that Crazy 8 had locked around his neck.
Good point!

@@zeebeeplayz he doesn't necessarily know it was used to kill him
@@miserywas8285 Fair point, I didn't think about that.
3:50 Jesse has $600 in 2008 Albuquerque. Why doesn't he go to a hotel/motel? At that time, sure he could find one for $50 a night.
I hadn’t thought about that! Maybe he was worried about making the money last.
7:41 that moment, when you play TF2 with your homie as a defenders, and he got hit with auto-balance
😂
"Where's breakfast?"
"Let's go do something."
[Cut to car]
That felt very Malcolm in the Middle for some reason
😆 Meanwhile, Junior is still hungry
This made me feel bad for Jesse like no other at this point of the show.
Walt was really harsh!
@@betterwatchtv He really was.
What about when he was a slave
Jesse's acting when interacting with his mom is so good. He plays "Grown man reduced to his sixteen year old self bc mom is mad" so well
Haha, yeah!

That’s awesome! Well said!

That's very possible!

Yeah, it’s a long, tedious process for sure!
you deserve so many more subs and views, keep up the great job
Thank you so much! I’ll try!
Jesse's breaking through the fence with the RV is reflected in doing the same in the very last episode
True!
Ahh yes "Jesse suffering: the episode."
Another interesting note!

Yeah, that is a lot. And the fact that each only mentions them once is a funny extra detail I've never thought about! Thanks!
1:12 Funny that Walter mentions Boz Scaggs, as "Lowdown Boogie" was used in an episode of _Better Call Saul_
Ha! Nice catch!
Haha, you definitely didn't let me down there!
I see what you did there!
Why do you think there’s so many shots in BB that have been randomly mirrored, is that normal? Awesome video as always
Great question! I have no idea! 😂 And thanks!
great video as always can’t wait for the next episode review
Thanks, MB!!
One interesting note is in the music video Paul is playing the guitar and Badger is playing the bass unlike in the clip in this episode.
Oh weird. I hadn’t thought about that. Thanks!

A very sad 😢 episode to watch as Jesse’s parents hate him and Walt is an asshole to him
Indeed. Poor Jesse goes through so much!
This is one of my favourite breaking bad episodes
Awesome! I don’t hear that very often!
Great content!
Thanks!!
Finally 🎉🎉 So hyped for this 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks, Domit!
So far this video has been up for 17 hours
Good time to comment!
This episode is the guy in the beanies DOWNfall
👏
BLACK IS THE COLOR BUT BUETY IS THE GAME🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Fun Fact: Junior's friend Louis/Lewis is played by the same actor that plays the racist combative son in Jordan Peele's film "Get Out". Totally crazy!
🤯 Wow!
Why are you blue?! 🤨
😂 Great delivery of that line!

Yeah, I think Walt had too much going on. Apparently only violence would get through to him!
If he had some unexpected reason to spend $60k then yeah I'd agree, but in this case he lost the money because of Tuco. I call that a business expense.
Stop using that sound for the love of God
Sorry! I think I tweaked it to be less annoying in more recent videos (although it is still ever present)!
