- When “Bridgerton” actor Phoebe Dynevor first read the script for Simon and Daphne’s wedding night, she didn’t realize that fans would immediately lock onto four little words - “I burn for you.”
In Variety’s Making a Scene presented by HBO, actors Regé-Jean Page (who played Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings) and Dynevor, along with director Sheree Folkson and composer Kris Bowers, break down the memorable scene from the series’ fifth episode, “The Duke and I.”

I am so happy that they managed to make Phoebe talk a lot this time. She is so brilliant and talented. Bridgeton is also her moment. As much it is Rege's. Congratulations to all of the team.

Rege nailed it- the look in his eyes is pure vulnerability as though he knows the next kiss is going to take him into his deepest pain and fear but he knows taking that step may also liberate him. Beautiful acting. As for Phoebe well she’s perfection in this role.
I love how consensual and caring he was. You could see that he truly cared about her and made sure to prioritize her comfort and pleasure

Same, and I think it’s because they were actually crucial to the story itself, in multiple ways, they told so much about the characters themselves, and yes they were a work of art, unlike most movies where it’s just for the sake of having a sex scene.
Phoebe is such an amazing actress! I really hope to see more of her! She says so much with just her eyes and mannerism 👏

Absolutely a perfect romantic scene that I watch over and over. Kudos to Kris Bowers for the brilliant soundtrack, I listen to it repeatedly. And Phoebe and Rege, outstanding performances. The chemistry! The way Phoebe can convey so much emotions with her eyes and body language throughout the show was enthralling. Brilliant production overall. Kudos to the whole Bridgerton team.

Phoebe dynevor and regé-jean ✨✨✨✨ superb actors 🌟phoebe really knew how to reel me in. Her ability to use what she's got(emotive devices) effectively is on its own a great quality for such a fairly unknown and new actor 💫

Great conversation! The music is such a beautiful element to this scene as well. Phoebe and Regé are brilliant actors. Such genuine energy, intensity, vulnerability, passion and tenderness throughout. They created such a genuine and moving vignette.
They should do more of this breakdown scenes. I love watching how a everything came together. I especially want to see the Hastings ball when Daphne was giving her monologue to Simon. I want to see how they made it work with all that rain machine and still look so beautiful! Also, I just want to see more Phoebe and Regé 😅
Bridgerton did a series of video with breakdowns of differente scenes and episodes. It's like a behind the scenes. Very very interesting. Have a look at it, they talk a lot about the Hastings ball too

Both actors come across as genuine and humble. Both are very talented. The director is great, too. The music and choreography are superb. Romantic fiction can be a bit cheesey. This show manages to avoid that happening. The viewers become really invested in this couple.
I think everyone thought Simon said I burn for you is because he first said "when one burns for someone who does not feel the same." and then it progresses to Daffney saying I burn for you.😃

I loved how this story was told, and their first sexual experience reminded me of my own where everything went so well and everything you want to happen, happens. The music was perfect, the scene was set up so perfectly. Everything was wonderfully done! And that’s only one freaking scene!!! Whomever chose that music for that part, is a genius!
I did not look at this until April. I saw Rege win the NAACP Image Award and thought what is Bridgerton? So I saw a commercial about xfinity wifi and the female showed the above clip and said "that's some good stuff" annnnnnd the rest is history I binged it that day and have been in love since!! That was one hot scene!!!!
The music was perfect for this scene. Huge fan. Can't wait for the next season.
Congratulations 🎉 to the composer as well, the music was out of this world 🌎 and he is handsome as well. Overall, good acting, good music, a sense of humor and all in all enjoyable indeed. I watched it every day and night since 12/25/20, what a lovely story, must say though I cannot get enough of Simon, very sad 😞 he will not be back in season two, he would be a great father and we needed to see the change in his relationship with Daphne and his son. 🙏🏿❤️❤️

How come Simon thought she didn’t love him back? She ltrly kissed him back after his “sincere apologies” in the garden😂😅
Well men can kiss women without actually loving them, and Simon being the Rake he was, knew that pretty well. So he could have thought the same applies to women too. But we know that we women usually will not kiss or get intimate unless we are in love.
And also I think he was so traumatized from living a lifetime of abandonment and lack of love that he didn't believe someone could truly love him. Also, I can see that from his point of view he may have believed Daphne was more worried about her reputation being ruined than loving him.

This was the pinnacle of the season. The whole story really falls apart and gets so depressing. Love this scene. As the director said, the anticipation and build up of the tension is the best, not the actual act.
Everytime I see this and hear this line "I Burn for You", my body gets chills! then Simon speaking with so much emotion they are lovely.
She is a great actor and very Beautiful.

All i am saying if the show is depending on the Jonathan character to sell season two to people who watched the first season who have no intention of reading the books which is all the men and many women i am sure, remember all the siblings was in season one and the census showed most people especially women worldwide watched the netflix version and kept on watching it because of Rege Jean Page, men also watched it past episode one because they also liked the suave bond type Simon character that he played so well also, so they better have fresh actors or actresses that can peak the same interest because the nexflix version had a very large male audience more than any other regency movie or series because most men don't watch that type of movie or series, like it or not the main reason there are new series coming is because the impact Rege and Phoebe had on people in season one especially Rege, just saying lol.
