I wish I had never given my dog this food this food but the marketing got me. I tried Sundays for a couple weeks and despite following their transition instructions my 10 year old Chihuahua mix developed pancreas issues. He never had these issues before trying Sundays and of course is no longer eating it. From my personal experience, I do not recommend anyone trying this food. My boy is now 11 and on Royal Canin low fat due to a couple flareups since trying Sundays. I would also point out the pieces that this food comes in is a choking hazard, and I was very nervous, giving my dog this food. Lastly I would like to add the customer service at this company is phenomenal. After explaining my issues the company agreed to a full refund and sent a lengthy apology. Thank you for another great video!
You’re welcome and I’m sorry it has been a stressful journey for you.
Wow you got great customer service because i definitely did not. $269 for 13.5lbs of dog food and told by customer service that i had 48 hours from the original email to cancel and they shipped it within 24 hours of that original email…🙄😠
Yeah, I dislike these subscription foods. It’s a horrible new fad.
Hey it would be great to have a playlist of videos of foods that pass your 7 point system! Love your vids keep it up!
I have lots of playlists for you to check out: Adult Dog foods scoring 7-10

@ OMGGG THANKS A TON!!!
@@AnimalDocRea Quick question is it okay to mix food? Like Kibble and fresh food for example
@Ikea9292101 yes , as long as you manage the calories
Thank you for taking the time to review this food. Greatly appreciated. ❤
Your welcome
Excellent Review❤️💯👍
I’ve never heard of this pet food before. It’s interesting to see how marketing impacts us as consumers. I have to say I have fallen for the marketing trap in the past. But I’ve learned that nutrients are the most important when comparing one pet food to another.
That’s awesome. Makes me feel like all the time is worth it!
@@AnimalDocRea I am very thankful for what you do. It is very helpful as a consumer to be able to look at pet foods objectively and not fall for marketing. Because I’ll be honest with you. I am a sucker for some good marketing and pretty packaging. I am grateful that I have learned that actually none of that matters and it’s what nutrients are in the food that’s most important but marketing is very powerful and it takes time to desensitize ourselves.
They recommended the beef or turkey recipe for our 8 week old golden retriever puppy. What do you think about that?
I’m not a fan of necessarily feeding a diet to a puppy whose adult formula is not very good. When it comes time to transition you have to find a whole new diet so personally I wouldn’t probably even go down that road. With that said, I didn’t evaluate for puppy specifically. You would have to decide if your golden is going to be over 70lbs at maturity, so you know if you need large breed or regular , then take those converted numbers and compare it to the corresponding standards.
I have fed this to my puppy but am weaning him off it because it's so expensive and dense. At 36 lbs at ~6mos, my golden retriever was recommended "Based on a 872 daily calorie diet, we recommend feeding Puppy 2/3 baking cup (about 2.8 oz) of Sundays, twice per day, but real world feeding can vary.
A 144 oz box of beef should last about 25 days
A 72 oz box of beef should last about 13 days
A 40 oz box of beef should last about 7 days
Sundays is measured by weight, so 'a cup' is not the traditional baking cup! A cup of Sundays is roughly 4.6oz or 130 grams which equals approximately 650 calories per 'cup' of Sundays."
Maybe this informs your analysis/decision!
Thanks for sharing. All these fresh food companies, I have found, really under feed the patients. Most likely due to trying to save cost as it becomes so cost prohibitive to feed as you mentioned.
Have you reviewed Spot and Tango ? Thank you.

@@wassabilove1111 yes, tried it an my yorkie rejects it, too bad because I think human grade way better than the garbage in most foods.
The term human grade probably doesn’t mean what you think it does as it pertains to pet food. Human grade does not equal human edible. Just another gimic…
I think it means the beef and chicken is sourced from same places human meat is, not that we should eat the food :-) I also do not like loads of synthetic vitamins and "meal" in the food. My dog actually likes my cooking the best so I will mix that with wellness.
I would love a review of Royal Canin Rottweiler Adult… maybe even a Royal Canin portfolio evaluation
I don’t think I can do the full portfolio… it’s huge!!!
Very true! Maybe an episode worth lol
@@AnimalDocRea RC makes about 260 different types of dog and cat food. Most of the wet food in the US contains carrageenan, which is banned in Europe. So cuts it down. I wonder how many of those dry foods actually make a difference, one from another. 🎶"There'll be bluebirds over, the white cliffs of Dover. Tomorrow, just you wait and see." 🎶
@@edschulhof6303 I feed my Rottie the Rottweiler formula only because it has a large kibble for his huge mouth lol. Also lots of benefits for joint health, which they are prone too. Otherwise prob all the same lol. I didn’t know about the C* thing you mentioned. I will look into this
@@edschulhof6303 thanks for this info . Says if it’s naturally derived it’s ok but it’s if it’s manufactured that it’s dangerous. And unfortunately we do not know if it’s naturally derived. I won’t be giving my dog the wet foods anymore. Interesting they would have this in any formulas but especially a GI diet when it’s known to cause digestive issues, colitis, etc. I wish the US would follow suit with Europe in regard to food regulations. It’s also sad to me that a European company will change the ingredients based on where the food is being manufactured to save a buck. It should be the same integrity regardless of where they make the products, If they truly care about health of the consumer and know an ingredient is not safe or the healthiest. I have looked up the European site and ingredients are so much cleaner then US versions being sold.
Hello Dr!
Could you please review the FORZA10 dog food?
they have behavioural tailored food, which this is not something Ive seen before!
I considered this food for a minute, but I wanted to know what temperature the food is heated to while drying and they refuse to answer. All they’d say is ‘we follow FDA guidelines.’ Like, why can’t they just answer a simple question? To me, it seems like they’re being dodgy.
I got a similar feeling
Can you please do a review on Ballards Ranch?
Do you mean badlands ranch? If so, I cannot because I’ve emailed them about a million times for their nutrition information and have never gotten a response. I’ve had subscribers try and have never gotten a response. If you can get me the numbers I need on a dry matter basis, email them to me and I’ll happily do a review.
Last year I tried all kinds of these foods but ultimately gave up because my shih tzus prefer moist and mesty
What you recommend for a Boston terrier currently on Orijen free grain

Please please PLEASE do a review on Abound Dry Puppy Food!
Even though it's an exclusive brand to all Kroger stores, they own Inter-American Products Co which has their own pet manufacturing plant.
In other words, they manufacture their own pet foods!
But I just purchased a new full bred Golden Retriever puppy and I wanted to know what your opinion is on this puppy food and its ingredients.
Do you think it's better or worse than Royal Canin Golden Retriever puppy food?
Thank you so much and I appreciate all you do 🤗
At one point I was almost considering this food. Praise the Lord I didn’t. Thank you
can you please point me to your videos about calculating the nutritional values based on caloric density?
I believe it’s in this one, you can also read how to do it in the textbook linked in the description box.
Wow! Ollie may be the winner of the fresh dog food

Also check out a more detailed explanation in the text linked in the description box.
I know it's a red flag when a company compares its products to those of other companies.
could you please do a review on Birdie and Louie dog food , its decently priced and they say they use good quality ingredients , they sell it at whole foods , it says on the site they follow aafco nutritional guidelines.
Ah…well all foods meet AAFCO… it’s a requirement to sell pet food. We want them to follow standards on SACN!
@@AnimalDocRea that’s good to know , put them to the test Rea!
I wanted to try this dog food for the hype but here’s the thing my 2 dachshunds drink a lot of water with this food. So I’m done buying it. I want my dogs on Yum Woof I think it’s much better they were eating chicken but I tried low fat turkey recipe they love it it’s small kibbles. Dr. Rea can you do Yum Woof review please. 🙏🏻 thanks I was gonna buy Raised Right glad I didn’t. Great video ❤😊. ruclips.net/video/FIPZYiE_qd0/видео.htmlsi=mjWPTC-emzoG52AQ
I’ve been waiting for this review … vs Fresh Food ?
You can compare to fresh food with the PSS because we are converting to dry matter basis. It would be equivalent to any fresh food scoring 4-5z
Can you please do “We Are Raw” review…?
And is ok to feed my puppy a raw food diet?
Raw is not recommended by the veterinary community as a whole and is a public health concern therefore I do not review raw on my channel.
@kieranmaguire182 see above
@@AnimalDocReaThat's because the veterinary community is quite like big pharma and is bought and paid for by dog food companies. Perhaps you should put a little effort into researching well known and respected hostilic veterinarians such as Dr Karen Becker
OMG, I don't really want to hear someone speaking like a super sonic lawyer or medical resident. Gave me the worst headache. Couldn't make sense of anything I was hearing. Just wanted some simple, helpful, reasonable info I couldn't otherwise get on sundays own site. That was not this video.
Sorry you felt that way, my 10 point scoring system is about as simple as I can make it without over simplifying into useless misrepresentation like “looking at the first 5 ingredients”. Feel free to bypass the videos and just read the text SACN linked in the description box.
👍
Kathryn Heigl’s Badlands ranch dog food ads are blowing up my you tube. Could you review this food. She makes all kinds of claims for longevity of dogs eating this food and spreads a lot of misinformation when she does her commercial showing her in a pet store looking at foods. My opinion: I love her as an actress but she needs to stay in her lane
I have actually had many requests, but I can’t get them to send me the information I need. If you can get the dry matter basis values then I’ll do it but I’m not going to hound them anymore
Have a hard time trusting anyone who doesn't recommend raw feeding.
This is not the channel for you then.
