    I shouted out this SSD on your live stream during prime day and you were confused because it was listed more expensive than the sn850x. Glad you got around to reviewing it!

    It's a QLC drive, so I'm not surprised the endurance is so low. I get that it makes it an affordable drive, but people are going to buy these and potentially use them in high write scenarios. That's not going to go well for those people.

      I would not buy QLC drive.

    Should have tested the 2TB drive so that it can be properly compared with the older SN770.

    I've found out that the sequential read and write speeds measured by Crystal Diskmark are never really seen in real life use. I frequently back up my entire system drive to another internal SSD, so I'm transferring a file size of around 400 GB. The file transfer usually starts out really fast, maybe 1.5 GB/sec but rapidly slows down to under 1 GB/s. So the difference between this SSD and a higher-end SSD like the Samsung 990 Pro is actually a lot less than you might think. So I agree that this is an excellent value.

      @theTechNotice  2 месяца назад +1

      Here's a tip, start multiple transfers in you pc between the nvme, so split the 400gb into 4x100gb and you'll see its gonna go faster than what you said ;)

    At Amazon Canada the Blue 5000 is only $10 less than the Black 850X, so it is over priced. The 850X has 2x the TBW 2400 vs 1200 and DRAM plus 50% higher rated speed 7300 vs 5500.

    I use the Crucial T500 SSDs in my systems and they do great. I just never see them in the comparisons which is disappointing but I already have them.
    I would just like to know how they stack up against these other drives. Thanks for another great vid Lauri.

      It would be great if he would test the T500. It's really one of the best Gen4 drives out there. Tech Testers has tested the T500 and have a pretty decent review of it.

    Very informative - thanks. What would be a good SSD for processing photos 50mB size each and about 50Gb per match - storing and culling on the drive in PhotoMechanic software, then editing in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop? Would this SSD work on an Intel iMac 27"?

    How do you think it will be OK to use such SSD in older server motherboards like Supermicro H11SSL-i in PCIe expansion cards (bifurcation), it has only PCIe gen3. Or are there better options? Gen3 nvme is harder to find these days than Gen4.

    Its just a way for them to sell the cheaper TLC versus QLC. In most drives this fast the average user will probably notice no difference in tested speeds. I have one that runs over 5000 read speeds and another just under 3000. I cant tell a difference.
