He died because he couldnt take the pain of his illness anymore.
In January 2012, Bergling was hospitalised for 11 days in New York City with acute pancreatitis caused by excessive alcohol use. Between 2012 and 2014, Bergling was prescribed opioids for the pain caused by his pancreatitis, including OxyContin and Vicodin, to which he developed an addiction along along side lifelong struggles with anxiety and addiction led to his death by suicide in 2018.

Not many knows this, but avicii didn’t actually write this particular song. The singer, nicholas furlong wrote it and it was sent to avicii who finished the production by adding a drop and some extra edm elements to the track. So, it kind of sucks to see him getting all the credit while it really should be nicholas who gets it. The music industry is depressing sometimes
