- Follow me on my journey renovating my old semi detached house in the North of England UK. I love DIY and will try my hand at anything. You'll see me getting stuck in doing most of the work myself including joinery, plumbing (occasionally some plastering) and a lot of decorating! In the summer you'll see me out in the garden keeping on top of my outside space. I'm not a professional but hope that my videos can inspire you to take on projects yourself that you thought weren't possible. So if you want to see before and after of the renovation make sure you subscribe and watch the house take shape.
I MESSED UP THE SKIRTING | NEW SOFA DELIVERY | HOUSE RENOVATION VLOG
Today I'm continuing to work on the second lounge before the new sofa gets delivered and I made a mess of the skirting boards!
I'd love some colour suggestions and inspiration for this room so drop me some ideas in the comments!
THANKS FOR WATCHING!

Hi all! Would love some input on decor ideas for this room as I’m really struggling! Do you like any of the wallpaper samples? Let me know! Thanks for watching 😊 x
Deffo go for the first wallpaper (blue & white) - it is really pretty & will soften up the sofa. It is easy then to thrift shop accessories to complement.
Thanks Lois, it’s definitely the nicest one x
I'd come back to that room and move onto something else that was sparking inspiration.
Absolutely! Think this is the best idea for now 😊 x
Yes, I agree on the first wallpaper. I think it would look really good and give the room a focus. Maybe a light wood table .
Thanks Jenny, think I’m going to have to Upcycle furniture - not seeing anything in any stores that I like so I’m on a Facebook marketplace hunt! X
Love the blue wallpaper ❤ 8:26
Me too! X
Hi Laura, you've always done a great job of decorating the rooms you've done previously so they always end up looking fab. Don't doubt yourself because you're making it so difficult to choose the right wallpaper. Personally I think the first dark blue wallpaper or the last one in your video would go really well with your lovely sofa. A lovely extra large clock would look great behind the sofa too x
Thank you Shirley! I was thinking a large clock too 😊 x
Hi Laura i think your first favourite blue wallpaper is the nicest.. plus theres a lot of white in it so doesnt look as dark as you think. I'd definitely go lighter with the wood too. Youre doing a great job!
Thank you Vicky ☺️ yes I do really like that one x
The first blue wallpaper looked great, put it on the wall with the TV. You could paint the dining room set and move it over to near the window/doors
Unfortunately the dining table is too big and needs to go…the doors open inwards so there’s only a small amount of space in front of them 😕 x
I think a big rug that sits under the settee, cushions and artwork, big clockand you could do the damask paper you really like. It’s def hard putting a room together from scratch 😬
Hi Laura,
I like the first damask paper, but I think you need a day or weekend off and away from it all to have a reset & recharge and come back with some fresh inspiration, still keen to see what you end up doing around the door . Xx
Yes I’m taking a break from decor in that room for now and waiting for the inspiration to come! I’m thinking I’m going to have to cut some mdf to fill in. If there wasn’t such a huge gap between the plaster and the frame I would have just cut out into the plaster and had the architrave flush with the wall but even that won’t work! X
I think navy on wall, I have a navy feature wall in my living room with pebble shore on the other walls and I love it, it doesn't darken the room either x
I’m struggling with the pebble shore. It’s almost like it changes colour! It’s a funny room for lighting though, it can be really dark but when the suns out it’s super bright! X
@@LauraDoesLife once you get a bolder colour in there you may change your mind x
Grazie ☺️ x
I noticed the blue (first) wallpaper straight away, the one under the sofa. Before you mentipned wallpaper i thought blue, id say do half and half, top paper, it will make the room feel less modern xx
I’d thought maybe half and half too x
Love the blue wallpaper 8:27 (the first one) it’s beautiful. Can I ask where it’s from ?
That’s definitely my favourite! I’ll have a look for a link, it may have been from the range I will try to find it for you x
This is the one - it says charcoal but it definitely looks like more of a navy blue! www.therange.co.uk/decorating/wallpaper-and-accessories/wallpaper-design-trends/floral-wallpaper/grandeco-mae-painted-jungle-leaves-linen-textured-wallpaper/?position=23&s=3721921#3721921.
Thanks Laura 😊
The external mitres are the real problem because the Mitre saw will only cut up to 45 degrees . If you had one that cut to about 48 you can get away with it.
