- Camino Portugués VLOG Day 01: We travel from the US to Portugal and spend a day exploring the city of Porto before starting our Camino the next day. We start off along the beautiful coast of Portugal only to reach our destination and find out there are no beds available. We end up walking back 3 km to Labruge to take the humble accommodations of a mattress in the floor. We battle with the question of pilgrim or tourist as we make choices but at the end we remained grateful pilgrims. This was on Sept 15 of 2023 and we walked a total of 38 km / 24 miles on our first day.

Aw, thank you so much. We love putting these together and love even more hearing from people who appreciate them. We've published 5 videos already about Camino Portugués, took a little break during Christmas but plan to continue this week.

Hi. I heard about the Camino while hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. I leave the states in April and will be doing both the Portuguese and Frances route back to back.@@caminocouple
Wow fantastic! Sounds like the physical part will be no problem at all. The biggest heads up will be the sheer number of people you’ll probably encounter given these are the two most popular Caminos and you heading into peak season. Seeing you’ve done distance hiking you’ll love this… your adventure continues! There may be more road than expected on the Portugues but no worries because it’ll will be just a fraction of your entire journey. Also Portugal had practically no public water fountains.
Bom Caminho! :) Walked Porto-Santiago via the coastal + senda litoral + spiritual ida y vuelta (round-trip) last year, and starting in Coimbra next year. Enjoy it!

I don't know what way do u take but Porto - Labruge it's 24,5k.
Yeah. We passed Labruge and after no finding any beds had to walk back.
We are walking the Camino P next May. What time of year did you walk?
How exciting! Camino Portugués was so great. We went in late September started on the 25th and reached Santiago on October 7th. We didn’t get any rain even though it’s supposed to be the rainy season. It was also fairly warm in the beginning and it got cold it was just a mild chill. When are you planning to go?
@@caminocouple We are actually planning to go in May, starting on the 8th and arriving in Santiago on the 21st. And walking the coastal route to start. We did the Frances twice in the fall and thought it would be nice to walk at a different time of year.
