    • @caminocouple
      @caminocouple 5 месяцев назад

      I used the ultralight puffy jacket from Uniqlo maybe 2 times and was sufficient for me. But it was an unusually warmer for this time of the year. After our Camino Portugués my wife stayed in Spain and did Camino Frances by herself for another 5 more weeks. Weather turned cold and rainy and she had to pick and extra layer at some point. She’s been working on her new kit for the next one based on her learning. We are hoping to do Frances in the fall again this year. I plan to add an ultra light fleece from Patagonia.

    • @caminocouple
      @caminocouple 6 месяцев назад

      Yes we did! Our bodies were conditioned for 25km so adding the extra bit here yes is hard and long but completely within reach. On these days we pretty much arrive get cleaned up and rest. Overall we were certainly tired but fine. 😉 - Lilia

    • @loreeraine7273
      @loreeraine7273 6 месяцев назад

      Can you explain "our bodies were conditioned for 25K"@@caminocouple I guess that means you did a good job of training beforehand. How many long walks did you go on to prepare? Last weekend I did three 20-22K walks in a row (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) with shorter 8-10 kms the other days, with one rest day. I'd like to continue that routine, inching the 22km up to match your 25km. Did you do something like that?

    • @caminocouple
      @caminocouple 6 месяцев назад

      Oh you are more than ready!!! That’s fantastic. Training typically means ramping up distance per week including at least one super long walk. Being “conditioned” for 25km to me means I can walk that and feel fine at the end and no soreness the next day. For Camino Portugués we did not train nearly as much as for Camino del Norte the year before and I did feel it in my ligaments a bit the first week. Once on Camino both times I found it much easier to keep walking the longer distances every day I think because of the novelty and excitement of being on Camino. Also everyone talks about how the first week is the final training in itself as we aclámate to all things Camino. When are you going? And which Camino? - Lilia

    Por favor, estás en Galicia y os atrevéis a poner música flamenca andaluza recorriendo los bosques y las verdes tierras gallegas. No tenéis ni idea del desprecio que nos hacéis a los gallegos. Si tuvierais un poco de respeto por la cultura de Galicia, Comunidad Autónoma del Estado español, deberíais informaros antes de nuestra realidad cultural, idiomática y de la tradición histórica del pueblo gallego. Somos un pequeño país (30.000 kilómetros cuadrados) de España, pero distinto al reflejado en los tópicos que se venden a los extranjeros sobre España: flamenco, corridas de toros, paella, feria de Sevilla, san Fermín de Pamplona, sangría, etc. Un saúdo dende Santiago de Compostela, capital de Galicia e cidade patrimonio da humanidade.

      Saludos Placido, perdón si los ofendí pues no fue mi intención. Cuando escogí la música no fue exactamente para representar la región si no para convocar un sentimiento. Si te fijas en otros videos he seleccionado música electrónica, rock, de New Orleans, clásica, jazz etc. Siempre ha sido más para convocar emociones no para indicar regiones. Pero si entiendo que no tomé en cuenta la sensibilidad cultural de la región. Lo tomaré en cuenta para la próxima. Gracias por tu corrección, saludos y buen camino.

      Saludos! Well, if you keep watching you soon notice that our reasons for Camino sometimes differ or sometimes are not even out right evident because we are not fully aware ourselves of all the Camino (and God) has in store for us. But, yes, for me in particular "religion" in its truest meaning "re-ligament" (re-connecting) to God is always foundational. Then from there it is about actively living out the practices of the Christian faith...sometimes in a learn as you go sort of way. :D - Lilia

      Wow, I’m always in awe of people doing it on bikes. Somehow that seems physically harder in my mind. You are a champ, may you have a buen camino.

      How exciting! Camino Portugués was so great. We went in late September started on the 25th and reached Santiago on October 7th. We didn’t get any rain even though it’s supposed to be the rainy season. It was also fairly warm in the beginning and it got cold it was just a mild chill. When are you planning to go?

      @@caminocouple We are actually planning to go in May, starting on the 8th and arriving in Santiago on the 21st. And walking the coastal route to start. We did the Frances twice in the fall and thought it would be nice to walk at a different time of year. We are really enjoying your videos. You’ve done a great job and it gets us even more excited. And we have 4 months to go!!

      Hi. I heard about the Camino while hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. I leave the states in April and will be doing both the Portuguese and Frances route back to back.@@caminocouple

    • @caminocouple
      @caminocouple 8 месяцев назад

      Wow fantastic! Sounds like the physical part will be no problem at all. The biggest heads up will be the sheer number of people you’ll probably encounter given these are the two most popular Caminos and you heading into peak season. Seeing you’ve done distance hiking you’ll love this… your adventure continues! There may be more road than expected on the Portugues but no worries because it’ll will be just a fraction of your entire journey. Also Portugal had practically no public water fountains.

    I did this last May also. I flew from western Canada so staying overnight in Pamplona was great. Woke up the next day refreshed and fully recovered from jet lag. Had breakfast before heading to catch the 12 PM bus. Arrived in Saint Jean Pied de Port around 2Pm which gave me time to explore the town and enjoy my dinner. Did not feel rushed at all and started my hike the next morning.

    Just started watching your videos and all this pilgrim vs. tourist safekeeping b.s. lost me. What happened to the whole everyone walks their own camino thing?

    • @caminocouple
      @caminocouple 9 месяцев назад

      Hey Jason, thanks for watching and for engaging in the comments. Yes everyone walks their own Camino for sure. We've seen people do several Caminos in a row, camping portions of it, we've seen people do a week here and there using luggage service for either medical or comfort reasons. We've seen people doing the Camino and mixing it into their vacation traveling across Europe. All are welcome in the Camino. The Pilgrim VS Tourist was just a common theme that stood out for us in this Camino for us in our journey as we faced certain choices. Hope we didn't lose you too far lol

    Best way of getting to st jean is fly to Biarritz and get a shared taxi to st jean , it's far cheaper than your rout and far quicker, if you fly in on an early flight you can save an extra day by walking to Orison instead of overnighting in st jean ( 8km) , it's only a couple of hours walking so even if you get to st jean at 3 or 4 pm there is plenty of time to get there .

      Thank you! I was coming from Santiago after Camino Portugués and I can see how my search did not have that option. I assumed coming from Madrid would be similar but I see there is an even better travel option as you stated. Thank you.
