    Well done video review. I recently had an X4S installed on my Ram 2500. The X4S does not have a generous waterfall front weather seal, the ends of the side rails are unfinished, basically cut metal. The side rail ends leave a sizable opening for water, insects, etc. to migrate into the bed. In addition to the tie-down options, yours is a much better and functional looking product.

  • @MyGuyKirby
    @MyGuyKirby 5 месяцев назад +4

    Tip for protection application. Roll the cover back so you can treat it in sections while standing inside the bed. Lightly mist that section and wear a nitrile glove one hand, use that gloved hand to spread the product out as evenly as possible. You can just let it air dry or use MF towel to mop up any excess. FYI, 303 Protectant (blue bottle) or 303 Aerospace Protectant (white bottle) are same . We use this application method to treat convertible tops.

    Very good vid, thanks. And a beaut of a cover. The one thing that isn't clear, is how well this seals water out of the bed at the back end when the tailgate is closed, from the back corners across the center, and how that is accomplished. How well does this keep water out in various types of weather and power washing and such? Thanks.

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  Месяц назад +1

      Yup its for the front bulk head, there are two different seal options one for it you have a spray in liner (or no liner) and the other if you have a plastic drop in liner. The thinner seal is for when you have a drop in liner as the drop in is much thicker.

    How does that rubber seal laying flat all along both sides hold its seal in the snowy cold of winter? Rubber softens in warmth but hardens in cold, at least rubber I am familiar with.

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  18 дней назад

      Haven't been through a winter with the truck yet but I don't foresee any issues with the rubber seal keeping the elements out of the truck bed. Any moisture that gets passed the seals ends up in the rails and will ultimately flow through the drain tubes.

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  7 месяцев назад

      Assuming you are asking how much weight you can put on the rails since this isn't exactly a tonneau cover built for hauling loads like a Diamond back is, they don't list the specs for this cover but I would assume they are close if not equal to the specs of the Elevate t-slot rails which is 500 lbs when driving on road and 750 lbs when parked (rtt with people in it).

  • @mscisco1977
    @mscisco1977 6 месяцев назад

    Why isn't anyone being honest with the quality of this cover? The title should be, Superglue Not Included. If you had an older BAKFlip from 10-yrs ago, you will be very disappointed with the amount of plastic. The locking mechanism used to be housed in aluminum - now it's thin, brittle plastic. The end caps are as well - they fall off way too easily. Upon receipt, all plastic parts were cracked and/or had fallen off. Even worse, of the four screw holes for the locking mechanism, only two were used per side - so the entire locking mechanism falls out when you try to use the cable. This would be fine if sold for $100 - that's about all it's worth. This isn't a cover for the working truck - it's there to get into place, be left alone and look good (assuming the endcaps don't fall off as you drive).

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  6 месяцев назад

      Sounds like you got a dud or are beating the heck out of the cover beyond its intended purpose. I’ve been extremely happy with the cover as have most across the forums.
      Regarding the 4 holes for 2 bolts per side, that’s not uncommon as many of these rails are used across different applications, cutting one type of bracket is a lot more efficient than cutting multiples when you look from a manufacturing lens. Also, 4 bolts aren’t going to provide any noticeable benefit over the two the cover requires.

    • @mscisco1977
      @mscisco1977 6 месяцев назад

      Cover is brand new, unused, out of the box. And yes, partial assembly is a huge problem. The cable housing lifts off of the rail when trying to use the cable. They drilled four holes for mounting, but only used two. As for the old one with aluminum parts - yes I did beat on it for 10-years and, yes, it held up perfectly. Should have pulled it off before I sold the old truck!
