  • It wouldn't seem like it at first, but there's actually a bit of a "butterfly effect" to talk about in this episode.
Garry Moore mentions at the beginning that regular panelist Orson Bean is in Australia for the time being...Well, Orson ended up staying in Australia for a few years, and even with a steady roster of rotating guests who were available, Mark Goodson ended up being rather irked that Bean abruptly departed from the show. In 1973, Goodson-Todman staffers asked Bean, who had relocated to Los Angeles by that point, to be a regular panelist on their new series "Match Game '73," but when Goodson learned the offer had been made, he revoked it and told his staff that Orson was welcome to appear on the company's shows as a GUEST, but he could never be a regular on any show ever again. Orson's seat on the panel went to Richard Dawson, who renegotiated his contract to include the right to host a game show of his own, which led to "Family Feud" in 1976.
