the idea of multiple, assassin-like creatures that can only be tracked by a proximity sensor is a very cool concept, and I was not expecting procedurally animated legs for the monsters, amazing work!!!
Acats is one of the few Minecraft modders who uses procedural animation, the From another world mod also uses it for the sculk spine thing

A little bit of context on what this mod is and why it hasn't been released
As you may know if you're on my discord server or visited From Another World's curseforge or modrinth pages, I'm tired of modding Minecraft. Before that but after the last From Another World update, I started working on this mod. It was going well but my loss of motivation and a failed attempt to add Spiders 2.0-like climbing left the mod in an unplayable state.
Seeing Rotch's newer videos on "dweller" mods, specifically "The Silence", strangely motivated me to fix it up and try to make it at least playable even if it doesn't have all the features I originally planned. I guess it was how my mod had the complete opposite approach to sounds and buildup, I figured it'd be interesting even if the mod turned out terrible.
I still don't know whether I'll release this mod on curseforge since it's so unfinished (and it requires an unreleased version of FromAnotherLibrary that's untested with the released version of FromAnotherWorld) but I will almost certainly put it on my discord server once a few improvements have been made!

I honesty think you've struck gold with this one as a concept. Don't think I can say anything that will help with motivation, but I think a polished version of this would be one of the few truly great horror mods out there.
ngl, this is one of the better horror mods ive seen
start off with something that is clearly meant to be a lifeline, instead of just some loredump or literally nothing
no crazy ambient sounds that signal its arrival (that i could hear at least, the music that i assume was overlayed in post was a bit distracting)
no obnoxiously loud screaming/roaring as it chases, not impossible to avoid/outrun, and isnt just a generic lanky humanoid
also quite like how it messes with your vision gradually as its chasing as a sort of build-up to the kill
im impressed tbh, and hope to see more of this mod in the future

Hearing Darkwood music in the first couple seconds already told me this one's going to be a banger
I hope the creator of "The Silence" mod takes note of this mod's creepiness, rather than spamming seizure flashes and earrapes to the monster, like this mod is more silence, than the Silence mod, which is awfully loud despite the name
A creature that isn't a dweller? Mmh...
The word dweller has lost its meaning since the trend. Not sure if everyone know what means now that it's over-used for every single scary mobs.
@@rotchgames I think "stalker mob" is a better phrase to use.

my god, man, you could've done with more bottom noises at the end than "mmh", maybe a "aahahmmfh" would've been more appropriate for such a great mod /j
FINALLY
The dwellers are fast and loud. They sneak up on you. This? No sound. A nice steady pace. Imho that's even more terrifying
Ok I LOVE the design of this monster ! Slow creepy movements, kinda spider-like body but not quite
aaand your reaction when you realize it's hella close is priceless X3
The beehive at the start is the most realistic part of any horror mod even if that was vanillia
It remaindered me about unfinished analog horror series called Barksaut Forest. The spiders and the clocks. But man, the way they build the environment is so intense and chill into your bone.
Having a giant black cockroach that can corrupt my vision is pretty normal.
This is normal and unalarming. If this happens to you, you should not be worried. :)
When you were in the mineshaft at beginning it increased to a ding per 5 seconds from the initial 4 seconds when you were in overworld meaning you were a bit a distance away.

This is what Minecraft horror should be. It’s not overly intrusive, yet it’s still unsettling and even terrifying while still remaining pretty minimalistic, honestly a top tier Minecraft horror mod imo just from what I’m seeing.

OH yes, and you will love it.
So far I loved what you showed off of Vital Deprivation. I can't imagine how horrifying that was having to deal with an entity phasing in and out of reality. And having that sensor really amplified the paranoia.
And to Acats, I really hope you take time to make sure this mod is perfectly 110% scary, even if it takes a while. Most of the single scary monster mods have been copies or even straight up stolen from the Cave Dweller mod. But Vital Deprivation, along with the Man Bear and The Silence mod has a chance to really shake up Minecraft horror, it just needs time and fine tuning until it is perfect (but it is still really good as it is right now).

okay when you had to go to the mineshaft that was an ambush those were 3 of those creatures so that was just rng fucking you over or the mod creator managed to made them do coordinate strikers and terror tactics
i think its do to how minecraft handles mob spawning. it spawns mobs in groups most of the time.
