Thankyou for your amazing description of Kitchener stitch...I always use it because it makes an exceptional finish, but learned it from another and always in terror and never get a rythm going...your description is soooo good and simple and non scary and I began to understand what was going on and get a good rythm (my pattern leaves me with 28 stitches over two needles) thankyou
Thank you. I come back to this video every time I have to Kitchener stitch. It's so clear (uh, even though it's, um, blurry. Unclear but clear, I guess. ;-) ) I just had to graft 120 stitches, and I could hear your voice with every one: "Knit off, purl on; purl off, knit on; knit off..."
The clearest Kitchener stitch demo I've seen (even if it was a little blurry!) ;-) I love your style, thanks so much. I've subscribed and look forward to more of your videos.
Thank you SO much for this step-by-step tutorial. I am just learning to make socks and trying different methods. So my current pair are very odd with different heal styles, soles and toes. But, they do both fit, so I will wear them, but will use my favourite parts from the different styles for my next, and hopefully matching, pair. Thanks Jana! 🥂💐💖
Wowzers, I've completed 1 sock & it looks & fits perfectly. When my partner gave me sock wool as a Christmas present I looked with horror & trepidation. But you came to my rescue, what an absolute dream your videos are Jana, I'm sure I wouldn't have made it to the end without your guidance & easy to follow instructions. I'm loving Kitchener for it's neat finish, here's to matching sock... Keep up the great tutorials & thanks again
I just wanted to say... thank you so much for this series! I actually followed the Hermione’s sock pattern that I saw you’ve previously done! You were so helpful for all of those bits in the pattern that were new to me as someone doing her first pair of socks! You are so clear with your explanations and were a total lifesaver with the heel turn and Kitchener stitch cast off. Thank you!!!
A friend just introduced me to knitting again after a 40 year break . I grew up in Switzerland and in high school we were allowed to knit in all our lessons! Now living in Scotland I followed your excellent instructions to remind myself of sock knitting - thanks for making it look so easy and for the detailed instructions!
The best sock tutorial I’ve found! I’ve only been knitting since July and I’ve been really scared of trying socks. But now I think I can do it with your vids guiding the way. THANK YOU.
Thank you thank you thank you, you are an amazing lady. I have followed you through this doing the same pattern ( and two at a time, because I must be mad) and have completed my first pair of socks. You made this soooo easy and painless. They look fantastic! Right i’m going to try your toe up socks next. Love you.
thank you so much for these informative videos. The sock pattern I had stopped making sense and that's where you videos helped make my first socks and they fit too 👍👍👍
I just want to say THANK YOU!!! so much! you have no idea! I was making my brother-in-law a christmas stocking (he's never had his own before), and the pattern i was using was so hard to read. This video series helped me not only to finish the stocking, but it helped me understand the process. Every question i thought of in my head, you addressed in these videos. You are a lifesaver! Thank you for making these! Happy Holidays!
I’m from Michigan but have been in SoCal for many years.. Knitting skinny scarves in cotton circular: For cal weather I’ve never really mastered the sock but I keep watching your videos over and over and it’s very helpful I’m sure I can do some soon! Prefer to join the local knitting club in addition to your tips to really physically see how to do it👏🏻👏🏻🧶 Any ideas that you have to start a knitting group locally that would be great!
Hi Jana. Just wanted to thank you for this great tutorial. The socks tuned out amazing. Tried to post pic on FB. Got denied. Maybe moderator did not recognize Woollike as a brand of yarn. But really wanted to show you my appreciation.
Most of the time when posts are declined in the group it's simply because the required information isn't there. We ask that you include the pattern (if there is one, if not just say you're using my tutorial) and also the yarn that you used. I'm glad you're enjoying the tutorial! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this knit along. Love doing socks with you. When the second sock is done this will be my third pair of socks since February using your tutorials. My socks for January were so big they would have fit the jolly green giant. Lol lol I didn't check gauge and used wrong size needles. Oops. I frogged them.
The only thing left out was weaving in the tail at the beginning, so that the edge looks flawless. Other than that, and the glitch in the focusing ... seemed to be focused on the woodgrain, rather than the work ... GREAT video~!!
I love, love, love your videos and I’ve been able to knit a sick fur the first time ever!!! I do have one question and that is do you subtract any from the measurement of your foot length to allow for the stretch of the sick? Or does that ease become less after you wash the socks the first time?
I personally don't subtract for length, but you could if you want them to fit tighter in length. 5-10% I don't trust the people in my house with laundry!
Love your videos! So helpful. I am a first time sock knitter and would just like to know if there is a written pattern which I can print to make it easier to follow the video at the same time? Thank you
If you click SHOW MORE in the video description, you'll see everything written out. You can copy/paste it into a document to print. Thanks for watching!
Good learning experience but I think I like the toe up way better...it was nice to try a different way...now I know for sure how I like to knit socks...as you say "I am the boss of MY knitting" Thanks for the lesson it was great
Well the short answer is no. It's not a pattern so much as it is a method by which you can knit a sock with any stitch pattern, using these components.
Purl Together Just did, only had to frog one row! Thankfully I knew when to just wait till morning 😂 PS: My sock turned out great! Thanks for these awesome videos.
Why are the "tutorials" with the tiniest needles and finest yarn?! Its a TUTORIAL - use GIANT, non ombre, strong contrast colors materials? Its for demonstration!
Many knitters like to see the demonstration with the actual materials that they're using. You might prefer this series instead, where I have indeed used worsted weight yarn to knit a pair of socks: ruclips.net/p/PLNWbWGGFfxXn5GJRYW6n_MZAdb84iOPVh
I keep checking so many videos on you tube and I ALWAYS come back to you become you make it so much easier

I have been knitting socks for a long time and I have always hated sewing the toe. You explained the kitchner stitch so well!!! thank you so much!!!
Glad it was helpful!
This video has carried me through so many sock endings. Thanks for sharing!! ❤
Wow this explanation of Kitchener stitch is better!!!
Thanks for your sock knitting very very clear.

You are so giving and knowledgeable. Always a joy to watch. Inspiring teacher! Many thanks and glad to know you!
Wow,,,,thank you so much, you just took the hair pulling step out of this kitchener stitch. It makes for a much nicer finish for the toe. Love it.

when you knit a shadow wrap heel, do you have to also knit a gusset
Nope, the shadow wrap heel is a short row heel. An entirely different technique
oh thankyou been getting top bit wrong much neater join
very helpful!

Hi Jana, I am in the process of knitting your step by step cuff down sock and cannot find the full pattern- is it available?
Well the short answer is no. It's not a pattern so much as it is a method by which you can knit a sock with any stitch pattern, using these components.
@@PurlTogether Ok thanks Jana- I have certainly learnt some handy new techniques from your steps🤗
My advice: do not attempt the Kitchener stitch at 1 am in excitement of finishing your sock.
Oh dear! I hope you got it sorted out in the end!
Purl Together Just did, only had to frog one row! Thankfully I knew when to just wait till morning 😂
PS: My sock turned out great! Thanks for these awesome videos.
