You can replace workers with machines But machines cannot replace consumers. So it's like Japan's GDP is stagnant. And slowly it goes down. And that's the future of the world economy
Spot on. However, there will still be winners. Just like Japan where there's still many well to do, with most people being in a precarious state however.
Japan has, I think, been reasonably okay so far because the rest of the world has grown economically. Especially China. Japan has benefitted from that. When South Korea, China and Europe starts to go down then Japan is fkd as well. Forget that Africa will save the world. Africans will be roughly half the world's population in the year 2100, but to think that they can replace East Asians and Europeans and all will be good is a fantasy.
He shows solid knowledge on demographics overall. But I have few issues with his predictions and he also didn't point issues leading to way off population counting in many countries. Btw there is no way the world will surpass 9 billion. Even the actual count of 8 billion is not a factual number it is just one more projection based on poor made local projections that have plenty of reasons to over state their actual populations.
Yes. You're correct I think. We'll never reach 9 billion and more importantly, mankind will be much older than now when it peaks...not to speak of how old it will get as we shrink in numbers. There will eventually be a mass starvation event, certainly among the elderly when young people give up supporting them.
So for the guest to say that" you don't pay for healthcare for illegals", he must not know that they receive free healthcare and they walk into clinics or an ER. We are required to treat them although they may not have a Social Security number or any way to tie their debt to them. The cost of food programs that illegals can use, the cost of public schools that are used by families of illegals are all visible costs of illegal immigration.
I remember well the wonderful era when we were about 100 Million Humans and thought this is far too much! We need Wars of Extinction to get back to a healthy population... we finally may achieve that now...
Oh Gawd! He predicts that we will peak at 20% more people than we have now, 60 years in the future, and he isn’t concerned about carrying capacity. We are over carrying capacity already, and we are surviving by burning fossil fuels, which may well run out before peak population.
He's wrong about the 10 billion. We won't reach 9 billion and then we'll probably shrink quickly for various reasons. And the peak will happen much sooner than the 2080s. Most of us will probably still be around when it happens.
I just listened for another 30 seconds. Even says that the War on Drugs makes legal immigration problem. Again, must not know that California legalized marijuana, legal marijuana manufacturers are losing the battle against illegal marijuana manufacturers. The supply in California is way up while the tax revenue from the legitimate selling of the marijuana. There is a problem the illegal Chinese pot farms in Oklahoma after it was legalized.

As long as the economy goes down slower than the population, then quality of life may increase for the remaining people.

AI can help with production but not consumption.
If the planet had only 1 billion people, I think I'd figure a way to manage, somehow,.
I think modern economics is the problem, not population demographics.
Please get to the topic. I stopped watching after 2 minutes innto video and nothing of substance was said.

Yay! The same Jon Krohn from the Pearson Courses (Maths for Ai: calculus and statistics) Didn't know he had a YT channel.
I remember well the wonderful era
when we were about 100 Million Humans
and thought
this is far too much!
We need Wars of Extinction
to get back to a healthy population...
we finally may achieve that now...
It's happening naturally now by choice. We will get back to equilibrium. There's no need for alarm and doom and gloom. We will adjust.
How old are you, sir?
