Your increase in armour weight squares, but your displacement cubes, that's how he can put a 25in belt on that thing. Although obviously, superlarge ships like these have the big shortcoming of being a single ship. The wideboi should actually have an excelent turning circle, as resistance to turning is your length to beam ratio. (IOW, it's not pushing water out of the way to turn itself, so it should rotate about center mass like a top) What the wideboi should have is absolutely zero SPEED.

The crazy russians actually built round warships. They were almost uncontrollable because of the lack of resistance to rotation. Think of a hot air ballon. It is susceptible to the wind direction and can do nothing against it. The lack of speed meant little force from the rudders, so they steered with different propeller speeds, which made the circle even slower. When I first saw this I thought you had made a fatal boo-boo with the Novgorod and she would get hooded in seconds - while the Repulsive is a wall and everything hitting it will almost certainly hit the belt and explode, hence massively armouring the belt, the Novgorod has barely any belt above the waterline so most shells hitting it would hit the DECK and explode - yet you armoured up the belt rather than the deck....
As it was, the game's mechanics saved you - Novgorod kept getting hit on the 'deck' and the shells exploding, but they counted as belt hits. Replusive also kept getting hit on the upper belt and the shells exploding and it was counting as deck hits.....

I don't know how projectile trajectories are calculated in this game, but IRL the immense difference in chance to hit would be of same order of difference: radar measures distance by looking at return signals from the *vertical* profile of something and calculating how long it took the signals to return.
The Novgorod is a rather low ship, so for radar it would be a small profile: not a lot of signal would be returned. At some point you need to start take the Earth's curvature into account. The ship would disappear behind the horizon and radar can't see it anymore. Though Repulsive is probably high enough for the radar horizon to be 100 miles or something.
The Repulsive is any radar operator's dream. It is so large that anything could pick it up from anywhere, resulting in very high accuracy measurements.

About a wall being more hitable than a small moon XD, it actually makes a lot of sense. At long range, shells come at shallowish angles (say around 30°).
Now take a piece of carboard, look at it at 30° from the vertical vs at 30° from the horizontal. The less angled one will obviously have a much greater cross section...
In a nutshell, draft is cringe and you want a lower profile. It's also great for saving on belt armor for long range or having it thicker for short range.

Also more elevation is much more expensive in cost and weight and hurts protection...
At any rate, those "higher" angles are only comparatively, as they're still fairly shallow at very long ranges and very shallow at anything less. And if you look at the game, you'd be hard pressed to find a roughly vertically falling shot ;P

Could you do an H-44 versus a 1940s version of a Tillman/Maximum Class BB? Obviously a 1916 or 1917 BB of any type would stand no chance against the H-44. I was thinking you could use the Tillman IV, and while there are no six-gun turrets you could try to do 6 four-gun turrets in an abc xyz layout, though if that wouldn’t fit on an American hull you could turn unlock all on and try to fit it on another nation’s hull (you will probably have to increase the displacement, but that will just put it more on par with the H-44). If that didn’t work you could use one of the other Tillman designs like the IV-1 or IV-2. You would have to take some liberties with the armor scheme and secondaries but I think it would still be a cool matchup, it’s not like you have a solid design to go off of for the H-44. Make sure it carries Super Heavy shells and an increased compliment of shells.

13:29 you know, the draft being more important than the beam could have something to do with the height of the ship, because a ship like the HMS Repulsive would be more visible over distance since she'd stand out like a skyscraper in the middle of a field, while the Novgorod is more like a large barn/stable. yes, she's large in circumference/diameter, but from a distance, she's not as visible as a half-mile tall battleship!

Video review: In this video, RUclipsr Stealth17 Gaming plays naval sim game "Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts", a game that lets the player design their own World Wars era warships. What makes this video stands out from other gameplay videos of UA:D is that its author made use of the game systems to create two quite humongous and hideous warships, one shaped like a gigantic pancake, the other like a very tall fence.
Like all videos of this kind, it starts with an introduction in the dockyard, where Stealth17 explains its creative process as well as the reasoning behind the designs of these ships. The intro is a bit long but will not deter fans of the channel. Newcomers may be tempted to skip to the chase, however, for viewers not already familiar with the game mechanics may not be interested in knowing that ship A couldn't be fitted with a torpedo belt or that ship B weights 30 thousand tons. That said, the intro is not so long as to bore anyone to death, and even has enough humor in it for everyone to crack one or two smiles, and so we will rank it as "acceptable".
The main dish of the video, as it were, begins after a few minutes. As always with videos about UA:D, the rythm is quite slow, but hopefully viewers know what they are in for. This is a naval game, after all, and not a fast and nervous FPS.
Commentary is sufficently concentrated in the first half, but becomes inevitably sparser near the middle, as there is only so much information you can give before running out of things to say. However it sparks back up in the second half. Indeed, such unconventional ship design apparently gives Stealth17 some insights about some of the game inner workings, that he is then able to share in the video.
There is no real conclusion, and the video ends rather abruptly, although its author does take a few seconds to give the proper good-byes as well as a hint as to what his next video will look like.
All in all, like all UA:D videos, this video may feel too long for people not already sold on the game's idea; but for players familiar with the game, it should definitely be worth a watch, for the quite unorthodox ship designs if nothing else, even if some parts of the videos can feel emptier than need be sometimes and can be skipped harmlessly, especially near the middle of the actual fight. A tighter editing may have made for a shorter but more exciting video. Then again, this kind of "experiment" videos could be considered a sub-category of "let's play", so editing out parts of the video may rub some viewers in the wrong way, and this is something that we are aware of.
All the same, our ranking for the video as whole is: 7/10. Good ideas, decent execution. We acknowledge that it is a severe score.
Thanks for reading and see you on some other RUclips video.

I'm thinking that the reason you had 0% chance to hit was because the front of your ship actually blocked the line of fire for your forward guns, the very front of your ship was higher than your guns themselves. while the rear ones couldn't even aim in that direction.
