Eye candy as always, but one big dose of sticker shock from cover to cover. Who can afford any of this anymore?
It's always been an expensive hobby - especially to buy new. Personally, I haven't purchased a "NEW" Lionel product since the Clinton years, but I LOVE the second-hand stuff!
@@ToyTrainTipsAndTricks You and me both! I've got all the prototypically correct models I want, from now on it's Post-Wars and MPC's as far as Lionels go. The prices on new Lionels are heart-stopping BUT if that's the market share they want and are comfortable with more power to 'em.
Certainly not me $1700 is a joke let alone $2000, $1300 for passenger cars another joke. All this for made in china plastic. You make it sound like these prices are reasonable. Forget 3 digit pricing the trend is taller 4 digit dollars.😢😂😢😂 these rolling stock are more than I’d pay for Locomotives. Sad😢

Good to see the New Brunswick Railways Kents/John Deere green SD70M-2s getting representation. Maine Northern is a subsidiary of the New Brunswick Southern/NBM railway company. I kinda wish they had used "New Brunswick Southern," instead. None the less happy to see this!

Amazingly there's nothing I really want in this catalog! My wallet will finally get a break, and I can focus on paying off my credit card this winter. 😊
I can see that. So much of this catalog was focused on PRR and N&W that I can see hobbyists from the rest of the country passing on these items.
I would expect those prices for a Post War legacy set....jeez. l like the reefers with the simulated hot boxes But you cant turn it off?
I was very disappointed with this catalog just like last year’s. They have really cut back on the volume two catalogs in the last few years. I’m worried that they should just do one catalog a year maybe and make it like big like a couple hundred pages.
I really like the new traditional O gauge offerings, especially the 031 GP-38's. I may have to get one or two of those. I wish Lionel would get away from those kinematic pilots. Those thing limit the radius of the track they can run on too much.

Be careful what you wish for. I've wanted Soo Line engines offered, so now, I may have to buy all 3. My wallet hates me, but my layout loves me.....

The Lionel Lines hudson is calling out to my wallet, the one where not even a moth flies out of when I open it.
Awesome sets. I worked for someone who had worked for the Milwaukee Road. He said the biggest mistake they made was to paint their cars and locomotives in Union Pacific colors when they ran the combined train. They basically lost their identity by doing that. You would never know they were Milwaukee Road cars.

I am a long time Lionel train operator. However at the prices that Lionel is charging for their new engines and cars I have not bought anything from them. All my newest items on my layout have come from other manufactures and at much lower prices. I don’t need every added features they seem to keep adding to their engines which only adds more to the cost. I have also been hearing bad things about their quality control on these overpriced items. If you pay these high prices I at least expect the highest quality products with no defects. If there are problems I would also expect excellent service to repair anything but again I have heard many people have had poor customer service from Lionel.
Who can afford any of these cars?
